Chapter 311

Cynthia could not get angry with Jashna when he was in this state, nor would she confront

him head-on. Instead, she withdrew her hand, sat beside him, and said, “Go ahead.”

Joshua pursed his thin lips, focusing solely on Cynthia as he carefully considered how to

phrase his words to make her dislike him less.

“Aren’t you going to say something?” Cynthia asked when he remained silent.

“It’s nothing, Joshua hesitated for a while, unable to find the words he wanted to say. He

stood up and told her, “Take care of him. I’ll handle the cleaning.”

Let me do it. After all, it’s my cousin who made the mess.” Cynthia found him a bit strange

but did not say much more.

This time, Joshua did not stop her.

Soon, two busy figures began to put everything back in place.

Knowing Joshua’s cleanliness preferences, Cynthia asked him where the new sheets and

duvet covers were and took them out to help him change the ones Kendrick had tainted in

the master bedroom.

After Joshua finished tidying up the other areas, all he saw was Cynthia’s busy figure.

He walked over, took the duvet covers from her hands, and said slowly, “The guest

bedroom is clean now. You should freshen up and get some sleep.”

He remembered that Cynthia had a relatively regular sleep schedule every night.

“It’s…”

Fine.

Cynthia did not finish her sentence.

Joshua approached her, and his warm body touched her shoulder. They were so close that

she could clearly smell the fresh, faint fragrance on him.

Just as Cynthia was about to move away from him, Joshua took the duvet covers from her

hands and started making the bed.

Sensing that something was off, Cynthia shifted slightly while he arranged the bedding

She was not the kind of person who made love the center of her life, but at this moment,

Joshua’s actions reminded her of that loving time in the past.

Joshua was difficult to approach when he wanted to, but when he turned gentle, no one

could resist him. With his striking appearance, privileged background, well-maintained

physique, and, most importantly, his demeanor and fresh, faint fragrance, anyone would

unconsciously be charmed by him.

Being at a distance was manageable, but one could not control their racing heart once in

close proximity.

Just as she was about to go out and shatter this atmosphere completely, Joshua called her

name. “Cynthia.”

“What’s the matter?” She maintained her usual calm demeanor, unaffected by his

presence.

“Are you really in a relationship with Moe? Joshua suddenly spoke, calmly walking up to

her, his voice lower than usual, sounding even inure seductive.

Cynthia did not know what was happening to her, but every time Joshua spoke to her

kindly, she could not help but stare at his face and lower her guard.

It was happening right now.

Without much thought, she answered, “No.”

“That’s good to hear.” Joshua smiled and raised his hand, intending to ruffle her hair.

Then, he remembered that their current relationship was unsuitable for such gestures and

pulled his hand back after a brief moment of hesitation.

Cynthia had intended to swat his hand away earlier. After all, she did not like intimate

actions when there was no intimate relationship.

However, she was left puzzled when Joshua retracted his hand.

Of course

Emotions became more intense than usual when things developed in the opposite

direction of what was expected.

Originally, it was a very normal matter. Still, because Cynthia had initial reservations

about Joshua, she had concluded her mind before he had even done what she had

imagined.

“Go freshen up and rest. Joshua knew what to do and what not to do. “I’ll move Kendrick

to the bed.”

Cynthia would not stay overnight here. “No need for that. I’ll just take him home directly.”
