Judy had no interest in deciphering these incomprehensible things. She waved her hands frantically and said, “No

need, I don’t want to learn. You should teach Lumma instead. Lumma wants to learn, and you want to teach. Don’t

drag me into this. I hate studying.”

“You have to learn.” Adam finally shifted his gaze towards Lumma. As his eyes landed on her, they softened

considerably. “If you want to learn, you can join us.”

Lumma was more than willing to do that. She excitedly jumped up and down, saying, “Really? I can join you? Mr.

Hills, can you wait for me for two minutes? I’ll go get my pen and notebook.”

“Go ahead.” Watching her cheerful figure disappear, Adam’s mood also improved significantly.

It seemed that Lumma was easily satisfied and delighted just by being included in the learning process, a simple-

minded girl indeed.

Judy was forced into study mode. Each time she heard an ancient phrase, she became so drowsy that she felt like

dozing off. However, Lumma, reveling in Adam’s attention, studied diligently. She not. only listened attentively but

also took meticulous notes, resembling a dedicated student.

Judy observed the two of them. One earnestly explained, while the other earnestly listened, both fully immersed in

that ancient text, focused and diligent, no one noticed Judy slacking off.

Quietly, she took out her comic book and continued shipping her favorite couple, occasionally stealing glances at

Adam, afraid he might catch her inattentiveness.

Little did she know that she was merely a pretext for Adam to get closer to Lumma. Lumma was the only person he

truly desired to teach.

“Mr. Hills, I don’t recognize this ancient word,” Lumma pointed to an unfamiliar word, her eyes filled with eager

anticipation. “Could you please teach me how to recognize it?”

Adam slightly lowered his head, naturally leaning closer to her. Among their breaths, he caught a hint of her unique

fragrance. She didn’t wear perfume, yet why did she always smell so delightful?

“Mr. Hills…” As he drew nearer, Lumma also caught the faint scent of minty tobacco emanating from him.

Subconsciously, she moved back a little. “Do you recognize this word?”

Adam composed himself. “This word means ‘husband.””

“Husband?” Lumma stared at the word for a few moments. The more she looked at it, the more it resembled the

ancient term for husband. “Mr. Hills, does this passage talk about a couple who get married, separate, and then

meet again without recognizing each other?”

If Lumma hadn’t been known for her earnest desire to learn, Adam would have thought she had discovered

something. “Yes, it’s a story about a couple who separate after getting married and then fall in love again when

they meet later.”

“What an unreliable man!” Perhaps reminiscing about her own experiences, Lumma couldn’t help but comment,

“Leaving his newlywed wife alone at home. In our era, it might be tolerable, but back then, when a man left a

woman at home, he probably had no idea how difficult her life would be.”

“That man is indeed unreliable!” Adam felt compelled to speak a few words in defense of the male protagonist in

the story. “He was forced to leave his hometown and his newlywed wife. But after recognizing her later, he

wholeheartedly treated her well. He could be considered a good husband.”

This book primarily focused on a collection of diverse folk stories, igniting Lumma’s curiosity. However, she didn’t

want to dwell on this matter indefinitely, nor did she possess the authority to pass judgment on the actions of those

involved.

After all, Lumma wasn’t a direct participant and remained oblivious to the circumstances at that time. A few

fleeting sentences were insufficient to comprehend the complete picture.

“Lumma…” Suddenly, Adam called her name in his low, seductive voice.

“Yes?” Lumma looked up at him, sensing that there was something hidden within his eyes behind the rim of his

silver glasses. Yet, that emotion dissipated so swiftly that Lumma began to question whether she had imagined it.

“Tomorrow, accompany me to Coastal City for the Elite Auction.” Adam hadn’t forgotten that tomorrow marked

Lucas’ return to Red Pine City. Due to Lucas’ temporary identity restrictions, he could only take Lumma away when

Lucas returned, preventing them from meeting.

“Of course. I’ll make the necessary preparations.” Lumma was aware that TOP was a renowned charity auction

organized by the influential figures of Coastal City. However, she was unaware of the items being auctioned this

time. Hence, she needed to prepare in advance, enabling Adam to both make a contribution and acquire items he

fancied through bidding.
