Chapter 257:

Among Adrian's toys, there was a gconsole that RK had picked up and was now playing. Adrian could only

watch in frustration, glaring at him but unable to retrieve it.

“Bad Uncle, put down the game!” Adrian shouted, but it had no effect. “Bad Uncle, put it down, or I'll teach you a

lesson!”

RK continued playing without a care in the world, ignoring Adrian’s protests. In the end, Adrian was too

exhausted to keep yelling, so he lay on the bed, pouting, waiting for someone to cto his rescue.

That was the scene Stella walked into when she returned. RK, a grown man, was seated at the table engrossed in

the game, while Adrian lay on the bed looking utterly wronged. Stella couldn't believe how childish and

shameless RK could be.

“Boohoo, Darling! That bad uncle stole my game...” Adrian immediately complained, sending out a distress

signal the moment he saw her.

Stella smiled slightly and said, “It's okay, Adrian. This uncle is very lonely in his old age. He's particularly pitiful.

You should feel sympathy for him and let this bad uncle enjoy being a child for a bit.”

RK couldn't help but feel a bit awkward at her words.

“Oh, okay then. | want to eat lemon rice,” Adrian said, forgetting about the gas his attention shifted to food.

Sitting by the edge of the bed, Stella focused on watching Adrian eat. After a while, a smile spread across her

face, her worries momentarily fading. She didn’t notice that RK had stopped playing and was now watching her

instead.

He couldn't help but notice how much weight she had lost. In just a few days, she had beceven thinner. He

remembered her being more robust before, but now she seemed fragile, like a feather that could be blown away

by the wind.

RK couldn't imagine what would happen if she lost Adrian.

“Adrian, eat your food. I'll be right back,” Stella said, standing up to leave the room.

After she exited the ward, RK also stepped out.

When Stella cout of the bathroom, she was startled to find RK leaning against the wall, his expression calm

as he looked at her.

She felt uneasy and tried to walk past him, but he blocked her path. She had just bathed and didn’t have much

strength. Even if she did, she couldn’t overpower him. Reluctantly, she let him pull her back.

“What are you doing?” Stella asked, annoyed.

“I'm not doing anything. I'm just reminding you to take care of yourself, so Adrian doesn’t becthe child of a

single-parent family,” RK said calmly.

“Adrian is already a child of a single-parent family. He doesn’t have a father—he only has a mother,” Stella

retorted.

“Is that so? What if | fight for custody?” RK sneered.

“You won't get custody,” Stella shot back.

“It’s not up to you to decide that,” RK said, his tone growing colder. He hadn't intended to argue with her, but for

sreason, every tthey talked, his emotions got the better of him.

“He has no feelings for you. The court won't give him to you!” Stella was losing patience, feeling as though every

conversation with him was a battle of wills.

“Feelings can be cultivated over time,” RK replied, his voice still calm. “Adrian is my son, my flesh and blood.

Blood is thicker than water. | don’t believe he has no feelings for me.”

“Ha! Blood is thicker than water?” Stella scoffed. “Did you think about that when you abandoned him? Now you

want to fight for custody, and you're saying he has feelings for you? You're unbelievable, RK.”

Just as expected, their conversation turned into an argument within three sentences.

“I made that decision for the good of everyone,” RK said, a hint of regret in his voice. “But now that Adrian is

here, he’s my responsibility too. Don’t you want to give him a better life?”

“As long as I'm here, that’s the best life for Adrian. I'm his mother. I've been with him since the day he was

born,” Stella said, her patience wearing thin. “RK, you need to think carefully about this. If you truly care about

Adrian, you should understand what's best for him.”

“Of course | do. Having a father in his life is what's best for him.”

“I don’t want to argue with you,” Stella sighed wearily. “You know deep down if what you're saying is true or not.

I'm exhausted, and I'd appreciate it if you'd leave us alone until Adrian is discharged from the hospital.”

With that, Stella turned and walked away, leaving RK standing there, looking lost and unsure of what to do next.
