“All right,” Jonathan agreed. He then gestured at the server for the bill.
Lance did not try to fight for the bill. To him, these were trivial matters not worth fighting over.
After footing the bill, Jonathan went out of the bar with Lance.
The two had quite a few drinks, and they would be in trouble if they bumped into the cops while driving.
Atter all, Lostaria was quite strict with its laws about driving under the influence.
“Why don't we walk back?” Lance suggested to Jonathan.
Jonathan paused in his tracks. Honestly, he was a little lazy and wanted to take the cab back, for it was a distance from their location to Mount Frallein.
Still, Lance was the one who made the suggestion, and as Lance's junior, he had to agree with it. “Okay.” Lance smiled at his agreement. “Let's go.” The two began walking down the path home. Jonathan did
not want to embarrass himself in front of his senior, so he kept a certain pace.
However, he soon realized that Lance was as quick as he was. In fact, Lance made his swift pace look casual.
There were only a few cars on the main road in the wee hours of the morning.
The street lights were bright, and the morning wind was freezing.
The chilly breeze of January was the most tormenting wind.
Jonathan refused to admit defeat, so he quickened his footsteps.
Nevertheless, Lance was still as quick as Jonathan and as nonchalant as ever.
That tickled Jonathan's urge to compete. He channeled his vitality and discreetly used Shadow Step to speed up.
In the next second, Jonathan became as quick as a car.
However, Lance was still by Jonathan's side, completely
unfazed.
Jonathan stubbornly persisted in channeling his vitality.
Lance remained by his side the entire time.
At one point, Jonathan used his cultivation technique to its maximum potential and even activated the power of Haemocore.
By then, he was much faster than any race car—so fast that he even left an afterimage.
In the blink of an eye, he was twenty miles ahead.
“Young man, are you trying to race with me?” Lance asked with a bitter chuckle.
He was still leisurely walking beside Jonathan.
Furthermore, Jonathan could see that Lance had not channeled nor used any techniques at all.
By then, Jonathan could only surrender. He slowed down and returned the bitter chuckle at Lance. “Mr. Cadman, you're brilliant. I'm impressed.” “Just a simple trick,” Lance commented as he slowed
down.
Jonathan was confused by what just happened, however.
“You seem nonchalant the entire time. It doesn't look like you've channeled your vitality. How did you move so quickly?” Lance explained, “There is a magnetic field and molecules in the air where many identical molecules are strung together. If you step through them quickly, you'll connect those identical molecules in series. It's akin to traveling in the void. To be honest, this effect is sometimes triggered when people walk. Sometimes, we reach our destination much quicker than expected even though we're using the same route. That's molecular tandem.” Jonathan stiffened at that, having felt that before.
“The time spent is the same, however,” he then said.
“There isn't much difference in the duration of the route.” “The likelihood of an unintentional molecular tandem is low.
However, when you cross over, the time molecules cross with you. That's why time passes by. Sometimes, you feel
like much time has passed, but when you check the time, it's only been a few minutes. Sometimes, you feel like little time has gone by, but in fact, a month has passed. That's the theory.” At that moment, a realization hit Jonathan. “I never thought they'd be related. What you've said are the things we encounter in our daily lives, but no one will ever think of that connection!” Lance went on, “There's a consequence to everything.
There is a scientific explanation for every magical or mythical phenomenon. Science isn't against fairy tales.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtScience is about seeing things from an objective angle and explaining the happenings with science. No one can fly without reason. We need to explain how he flies with the theory of gravity. Why can he be exempted from that theory? There must a reason behind this. The core of science is to not engage in blind worship. Always have questions and question everything that happens. The truth will never be known unless studied. Fairy tales have no scientific basis, so most people are made to believe that
things come out of nowhere. They serve to trick and make others fear to even doubt it.” Jonathan was all ears as he was utterly impressed by Lance's speech.
It was because everything Lance said was not baseless.
Lance was not forcing Jonathan to believe in him just because he was older.
By then, the two men were already on the way to Mount Frallein.
There were even fewer cars around, but the path they walked was still brightly illuminated.
It was a dark night with no moon, and they were surrounded by dense trees.
The inside of the forest was even darker than the road.
Just then, Lance paused in his tracks.
Jonathan stopped in surprise and turned to Lance. “What's the matter, Mr. Cadman?” Lance snapped his brows together. “It's been a long while
since my last visit here, but the moment I'm here, they're here too.” Jonathan could guess that Lance's enemies must have come.
His heart lurched. Those who could be Lance's enemies and had the guts to take revenge on Lance were definitely not any average Joe.
Just as Lance said that, rustling sounds came from the forest.
Not long after, four shadows surrounded Lance and Jonathan.
“Chanaean Dragon, it's been a while!” said one of the two, who was an old man with a creepy voice.
Jonathan turned to the old man and realized that the old man was Chanaean. He was in a black robe, and he looked like he was in his sixties. The wrinkles on his face were almost like carvings, but his eyes were still as bright as a young man's. Jonathan could somewhat sense the
powerful aura emanating from the old man.
Perhaps that sensation was a warning from his instincts. If Jonathan had been alone there, it was likely he would have had trouble breathing.
This old man's no weaker than Catherine's grandpa in terms of cultivation. That was the conclusion Jonathan came to in a flash.
However, standing beside the black-robed old man was an Anglandurn man with extremely pale skin and blonde hair.
He looked like he was in his forties, but that was merely his appearance.
Jonathan could not decipher the actual age of the Anglandurn man. Furthermore, he noticed that the man's eyes were the color of blood red, which made him look even creepier in the dark night. His lips were bright red too as if he was a vampire from the legends.
Then, Jonathan glanced at the two men in the back and noted that they were both in their fifties. Like the old man, they were Chanaean too.
So they're powerful based on their cultivation. People | should be looking up to. I'd be instantly killed if | bumped into them alone. Lucio is strong, but if | were to compare him to these people, he would be akin to a three-year-old.
Right then, the Anglandurn man said, “Mr. Chanaean Dragon, it's been twenty years, but you haven't changed much.” Lance smiled. “The vampires were all annihilated back then at Divine Emperor's wrath. | thought there were no more vampires left, but surprisingly, Paradicea still had the vampires of Gulden Vampir left. You tried to take over Chanaea twenty years ago, but we defeated you. | thought you would have been humbled by the episode, but with the few of you coming together... It looks like you have yet to purge those ill thoughts from your head. You talk about seeing me after twenty years; however, please take my apologies for | only realized you're a vampire, but | can't recall who you are.” In other words, he was telling the Anglandurn man he was
too trivial a character for Lance to remember.
Jonathan was quite nervous at the start, but when he heard the boldness in Lance's words, his courage amplified.
Fury flashed past the Anglandurn man's eyes. He said, “Remember this. My name is Kirsten Adler, and I'm the prince of the Gulden Vampir, as well as the leader of the vampires in Lostaria. Keep this in your memory because I'm going to leave a deep impression on you today.” Lance chuckled. “All right, all right. I'l remember your name. He then turned to the old man and said, “You must be the new chief of your esoteric sect, Nameless Ancestor.” The old man replied, “That is correct. Our Xenhall esoteric sect was in chaos when Chief Dache was killed by you back then. Now, I'll be able to restore the pride of the sect if 1 were to kill you.” “Torma Dache's rationality had been overtaken by greed back then, and he had killed countless people. Killing him was doing justice for the people.” Jonathan could not help but feel thrilled as he listened to
their conversation. If he could live a life like Lance's, he would be able to die without regrets.
Nameless Ancestor then said, “We do not need to speak too much about what happened in the past. Since we were fated to meet today, we shall bring an end to the past event.” Lance sighed. “You shouldn't have come.” Despite his words, he thought nothing of the two people in the front.
Then, he shifted to look at the two in the back.
In a quiet voice, he asked, “Do you have a grudge against me too?” The Chanaean man on the left coldly said, “Mr. Cadman, I'm Warren Simpson. You must not have heard of my name, but my son died in your hands.” Lance let out a bitter chuckle. “I've killed too many people, so | can't think of who he is right now. Your son is...” Warren hissed, “Ezra Simpson!”
Lance shook his head. “I don't remember him. Have you come to the wrong person?” His words made wrath flash past Warren's eyes. “Mr.
Cadman, you're unbelievable! My son was in the Holy Light and was serving Demon Emperor when he went on a mission to kill you. You killed him with one hit!” “That's possible, but it's nothing unusual for me to kill your son if he wanted to kill me,” Lance told him.
“Hence, it's also nothing strange for me to come and kill you today!” Warren growled.
Lance sighed. “You really shouldn't have come. Not only will you fail to take your revenge, but you'll even join your son in the afterlife. What about this? You have my pity. Leave now, and | won't Kill you.” At the peak of his fury, Warren barked out a laugh. “Mr.
Lance shook his head. “I don't remember him. Have you come to the wrong person?” His words made wrath flash past Warren's eyes. “Mr.

Lance sighed. “You really shouldn't have come. Not only will you fail to take your revenge, but you'll even join your son in the afterlife. What about this? You have my pity. Leave now, and | won't Kill you.” At the peak of his fury, Warren barked out a laugh. “Mr.
Cadman, you're drunk on arrogance! Today will be the day you die!” Lance hummed. “Well, there's nothing | can do about that
then.” He then turned to the last person he had not spoken to and asked, “Do you bear a grudge against me too?”
Jonathan was on the verge of laughing out loud. Mr.
Cadman is so funny! Exactly how many enemies does he have? I'm known for causing lots of trouble, but it seems that Mr. Cadman can't even remember how many enemies he has! Right then, the Chanaean man answered coldly, “Yes!” “What is it?” Lance asked.
The Chanaean man said, “Even if | were to tell you, you wouldn't remember it. All you need to know is that I'm Tammy Gibson!” “All right, then. In that case, is it okay if my friend leaves? I've only known him not long ago. It's not like he has ever wronged any of you,” Lance uttered.
Nameless Ancestor chuckled coldly and said, “Everyone knows that Chanaean Dragon is a hypocrite. | bet you're going to be embarrassed to have him die alongside you.
Let's just let him stay and become your burden.” “That's not true. As you've said, I'm a hypocrite. Since there's no one else here, what's wrong with me trying to
keep my life?” Lance answered.
Nameless Ancestor was rendered speechless.
Again, Jonathan wanted to laugh out loud.
Lance turned toward Jonathan and said, “My friend, it seems that | might have to drag you down with me. These people are not going to let you go.” Jonathan wasn't afraid. His heart beat with excitement as he said, “Mr. Cadman, it would be my honor to fight alongside you. It doesn't even matter even if | die.” Lance chortled. “Good! What a man!” After that, he looked at Nameless Ancestor, Kirsten, and the rest. “Come at me atonce!” “Sure!” Nameless Ancestor roared at the top of his lungs. At that moment, he exuded a terrifying aura, and his black robe flapped noisily in the air.
His eyes were filled with murderous intent as he swung his hand at Lance.
It was a rather peculiar move.
Based on their religious beliefs, males and females were made up of their respective gender elements. Once both elements were combined, a new life could then be born.
Nameless Ancestor cultivated the Gender Crossing Technique. His body was packed with female energy. He would then combine his male energy with the female energy in his body as he attacked.
All of a sudden, the magnetic field in the area was distorted.
Jonathan could sense the surrounding air being drained away like water. Nameless Ancestor's move is as fast as lightning and as eerie as ghosts! Besides, it's packed with the essence of the Gender Crossing Technique. The receiver of such an attack is surely going to die.
Kirsten's eyes turned red, and he shouted into the sky. He was ready to launch his attack as well. Instead of dashing toward his opponent, he pressed his palms against each other and triggered the magnetic field in the air.
Out of thin air, a lightning bolt suddenly appeared, wanting to strike Lance.
At the same time, Warren and Tammy launched their attacks.
Just like that, Lance was facing attacks from four elite fighters at once.
Jonathan was stuck in between with no way of defending himself. No matter how hard he tried to stay calm and how much he wanted to fight back, he couldn't move a muscle while facing the intense energy of those four men. This is not a fight a person with my capability could afford to interfere in.
Despite being the target, Lance was extremely calm and collected.
As Nameless Ancestor struck out his palm, Lance quickly countered with his palm packed with energy as well.
Lance's attack might seem ordinary, but Jonathan could sense the enormous power it held.
Nameless Ancestor was sent flying and died on the spot.
Lance let out a sigh. “Told you you shouldn't have come.” Jonathan was utterly baffled. Mr. Cadman is facing attacks from four elite fighters at the same time, but it's as if he has summoned a few clones to fight them off.
Besides, he's still in the mood to talk! As he was attacking Nameless Ancestor, Lance extended one of his fingers. The moment he did that, his fingertip shone brightly and caught Kirsten's lightning bolt.
Then he redirected it back toward Kirsten.
The lightning bolt became thicker as it aimed for its target.
Kirsten was so horrified that he gave up on fighting and fled. In just the blink of an eye, he ended up a hundred meters away.
“Fortunately for you, you're fast. I'll let you off.” Lance smiled.
Seeing that Tammy's and Warren's attacks were
approaching, Lance suddenly grabbed hold of Jonathan and flew backward to avoid their attacks.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmMoments prior, Jonathan was still feeling confused.
However, he suddenly felt the pressure being lifted off of him.
Lance flashed a faint smile and asked, “Do both of you still want revenge?” Warren and Tammy blanched. We're not as strong as Nameless Ancestor and Kirsten. Now one of them is dead, and the other is injured. How are we supposed to carry on? They both exchanged glances and fled right away.
Just like that, they both left as quickly as they came.
Jonathan returned to his senses and gazed at Lance in admiration. “Mr. Cadman, you're so strong...” He was so impressed that he was having trouble forming his sentence.
“Let's go,” Lance said.
The two of them continued walking forward.
Jonathan couldn't help but ask, “Why didn't you kill them,
Mr. Cadman?” “Back then, I'd always killed my enemies because | wasn't strong enough. | was afraid that they might come looking for my family. Now, | don't need to worry about that anymore. I'm strong enough to protect my family. Besides, out of those four, Kirsten was the only foreigner. How could 1 Kill all three Chanaeans while letting a foreigner escape?” Jonathan hummed in revelation.
Twenty minutes later, Jonathan and Lance were back at the Divine Realm.
Before entering, Jonathan did the usual by scanning his pupils.
Only then did the security guards let him in.
Jonathan was puzzled when he noticed how the security guards had blatantly ignored Lance when they entered the Divine Realm at the same time.
Upon entering, Jonathan asked, “Mr. Cadman, don't you need to get checked?”
“Of course not!” Jonathan nodded, and he seemed to have realized something. Perhaps Mr. Cadman doesn't need to do that because he's a reputable man. However, it's still so weird. If he's so reputable, why did the security guards ignore him? How strange! Despite his thoughts, Jonathan didn't think too much about it.
Meanwhile, the security guards mumbled among themselves after Jonathan and Lance left.
“What's that kid's name?” a tall security guard asked a chubby security guard next to him.
“Jonathan Lawson!” the chubby security guard answered.
These security guards were all external employees.
Although they knew how to fight, they weren't good fighters.
After all, no one would dare to cause trouble at the Divine Realm entrance.
The tall security guard asked in puzzlement, “Before
entering, Jonathan was talking. He was talking to himself.
Is he crazy or something?” The chubby security guard answered, “Exactly! | think | heard him asking someone if they needed to get checked when he entered. But he was alone!” The change on the tall security guard's face was palpable.
“What the f*ck? Was he talking to a ghost?” On the boulevard nearby his condominium, Jonathan asked, “Where do you stay, Mr. Cadman?” “It has been a while since | had a place of my own here. Do you mind if | crash at your place tonight?” Elated, Jonathan answered, “Why would 1? Come!” Lance chuckled. “Silly kid.” Jonathan had the whole condominium to himself.
After getting inside, Jonathan said, “Mr. Cadman, you're free to use any room you like. If you want to shower, | can even fetch you a towel and a set of my pajamas.” Lance smiled. “You don't have to go through so much
trouble. It's quite cold today. | can skip taking a shower.” Hearing that, Jonathan didn't insist any further. “Let's just drink and talk, then. I'm really interested in hearing about your past.” “I can drink and talk with you. But | don't think there's much to tell about my past.” “Don't they say that the ones who like to talk about their past are the ones who are weak now? Since you don't like to talk about your past, that means you're even stronger than before!” Lance laughed. “That's a good one!” “Should | tell you about me, then?” Jonathan chuckled.
Lance froze for a while before saying, “That sounds good.
After all, we have a long night ahead of us.” Upon hearing that, Jonathan went to get beer and some snacks.
The two of them sat on the couch and chatted over beer.
“Mr. Cadman, you must have had many lovers back then, right?” Jonathan asked curiously.
“Didn't we say we were going to talk about you? Why are you asking me that?” “Just answer one question of mine, please? Since you're a handsome gentleman with a high level of cultivation, | bet you're famous among the ladies!” Lance glanced at Jonathan and smiled. “You got that right, but why do you ask?” “How did you manage it? To be honest, | think I'm facing a problem in that area. As you know, although my cultivation level is not as high as yours, I'm still a handsome man!” Jonathan exclaimed shamelessly.
Lance laughed in response.
“Why are you laughing? It's the truth! | wouldn't dare to compete with you when it comes to cultivation, but | think | can compete with you when it comes to looks,” Jonathan grumbled.
“Don't mind me. | just envy you.”
Puzzled, Jonathan replied, “What's there to be envious of? In fact, | envy you even more.” “I'm envious of your troubles.” “My troubles?” Lance sighed. “You wouldn't understand it if you hadn't gone through certain things. As a young man, you can still afford to worry about money and love life, and that's a privilege.” Jonathan couldn't understand what Lance was talking about.
Lance quickly added, “You asked me how | managed it, didn't you?” “Yes!” “The ones | care about and the ones who care about me all ended up as my women.” “Does that mean you have a lot of wives?” Jonathan was surprised.
“You can say that.” “Don't you think that's a little inappropriate? Since all the women want their men to themselves, don't you think you're being unfair to them?”
