Noticing his lack of response, Belinda chose not to press the matter further. Instead, she shifted gears, drawing
him into slight-hearted, casual chatter.
The next day
At just past ten in the morning, the entire Happer family arrived at Belinda’s place.
Belinda greeted Carola first.
She cast a quick glance over the rest of them, offering a polite but distant nod.
Her demeanor was frosty.
Yet, not one of them dared to take offense.
They all understood perfectly well why Belinda was treating them like this. After the rift with Kylee, her
willingness to see them at all was a gesture made purely out of regard for Carola.
“Mr. Happer,” Lucas greeted only Galen. “Cinside.”

With that, the Happer family stepped inside Belinda’s home.
Their arms were laden with gifts—so many, in fact, that the coffee table groaned under their weight.
Once everyone was settled on the sofa, Galen began to speak.
“Ms. Wright,” he said solemnly, “we owe you a great deal. What you did during the Mingo Jewelry robbery—
saving my daughter—was courageous. | can’t thank you enough for that.”
His tone was heartfelt, bearing no resemblance to the prideful, imposing air he carried the last tthey met.
Looking at Belinda, he continued, “I understand why you might not think highly of the Happer family. | don’t
blyou. What happened between you and Kylee was unpleasant, to say the least. I, too, spoke to you without
the courtesy you deserved before. From where you stand, | imagine we gave you every reason to dislike our
family.
“To be frank, | didn’t care much for you at the time. | thought you were the root of Kylee’s misfortune. But...”

He paused, the weight of his words evident in his tone. “In truth, I've always known—my granddaughter brought
that on herself. She tried to harm you first. You only wanted revenge. By all logic, | shouldn't have held it against
you. But the heart often lags behind reason, and | let resentment take control ofthen.”
Belinda pressed her lips together slightly, choosing silence over an immediate reply.
She was caught off guard, not expecting Galen to speak with such raw honesty.
Galen continued, “Let's set aside what happened with Kylee for now. The fact remains—you saved my daughter's
life. For that, Ms. Wright, my family owes you. | sincerely thank you for risking your safety to save her.”
At those words, Galen rose to his feet. The rest of the Happer family followed suit. Together, they bowed deeply
before Belinda, a gesture filled with genuine humility.
“Ms. Wright, thank you.”
Belinda was completely taken aback by this.
