"He's a friend." After a pause, Alexander continued, "I'll hang up first and call you again when | need your help."
"About the doctor..."
"It's okay for now," Alexander said after sthought. Then he put away his phone, walked toward Austin, and asked, “Why not?”
"The doctors out there are useless. This isn't a common disease. You know that!" Austin replied in a deep voice.
Alexander nodded. "I know, but right now, there's no better option. The old man is down with a high fever, and none of the
servants’ conditions are improving. We can't keep going like this. Maybe a doctor outside can help relieve..."
"I'm a doctor!" Austin exclaimed.
Alexander immediately fell silent.

“| started as a doctor. As you know, | studied under many famous doctors,” Austin emphasized again. The tone he spoke in was
very different from usual.
He used to be proud, confident, and even slightly arrogant when he spoke about this. However, his voice was gentle yet heavy this
time. His gaze was firm, and each word he said was meant to affirm Alexander.
"I've been too decadent these days. After coming out of the devil's lair, I've been running away like a coward. I've just been
indulging in the care Uncle Dom had been giving me, alongside everyone's concern for me. When Uncle Dom and everyone else
fell ill, I felt like I'd lost myself and completely forgot | was a doctor.
“I've been drowning myself in self-doubt and self-denial. | don't believe | can do it. | don't believe | can cure them, either. | don't
know anything, nor do | understand anything. Because of all this, | forgot what Uncle Dom told me.
“No one is born with the knowledge to cure, not even a doctor. Everyone learns as they go." Austin looked into the distance as he
spoke, seeming to recall what Dominic had told him.
He did not take it seriously back then, thinking the older man was superficial and mocking him. Now that Austin thought about it,
every word was like gold.
"Yes, it's true that | don't know anything about symbiotes. | haven't learned about it or even seen it before. But with so many books
at hand how easy it is to access the Internet, | don't believe | can't find a way," he continued, "An average doctor won't know
how to deal with the current situation. So, I'll do it!" He ended firmly.
There was determination and confidence in his eyes.
The current Austin completely differed from before. He was no longer the conceited and arrogant Dr. Fike who pursued fame. He
was no longer that young man who chased the praises of everyone under the pretense of being a miracle doctor's last apprentice.

Alexander looked at him and nodded slowly. It was not that he trusted Austin, but Austin was right. There was indeed no better
option. No ordinary doctors could handle this unless they could find someone who knew about symbiotes.
Austin made another phone call to his family. His parents’ condition did not deteriorate. Besides the constant slight fever and
itchiness, they were basking in the sun and cooking in the garden.
Hearing this made him feel a little relieved. This meant his parents were not severely infected, or the disease had yet to develop
into a severe stage. Regardless of which one it was, this bought him more time.
‘I must develop a cure as soon as possible. | can’t keep pinning my hopes on others. I'm Austin Fike, the grandnephew of the
miracle doctor, Dominic Fike!
‘Even if I'm not his apprentice, | have been under his guidance and influence for years. | shouldn't be standing around helplessly. |
must take action!”
