13. Daughter of the betrayer
“Athena, what are you doing here?” Dominic asked in a confused tone, making Athena jump. Athena quickly turned around to
look at Dominic. Her eyes were a little widely opened and the look of getting caught was present in her eyes. She looked a little
scared. Dominic took a step toward Athena when he suddenly realized something and stopped midway. He looked at her with a
deep frown, making her more worried. “Wh...what are you doing here, Dominic?” Athena asked while sounding as nervous as
she looked.
“Shouldn’t I be the one to ask you the question?” He asked while looking at her with the same frown which had a little bit of
coldness now. She knew what was the reason for his coldness. She looked down, feeling guilty. “And why did you lock your
scent?” Dominic asked, his voice sounded dangerously cold, making her flinch a little. Dominic locked his scent as well which is
why she didn’t find out that he was there. But the reason for him locking his scent is valid. It could create unnecessary ruckus
inside the basement if everyone knows that the alpha was there. But why did she lock her scent? What was she doing there in
the first place?
“I...I didn’t want you to find out...that I am here...” She said while looking down.
She looked like a child who got caught while stealing candy. He couldn’t understand how he could find her cute even in a
He let out a sigh from inside... That’s what love is...
“What are you doing here, Athena?” He asked with a sigh while taking another step toward her, closing all the distance between
them. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer. He dropped his head on her hair and inhaled her scent which
spread a weird feeling of peace and calmness inside him.
Athena didn’t know how to answer him. She went there to meet Robert. She needed to ask him a few questions regarding her
identity. She didn’t expect Dominic to be here. She didn’t tell Dominic about Robert or anything about her past yet. So, he didn’t
know how to break it to him suddenly.
“Athena? I am waiting.” He said in a calm tone. He was being very patient with her at that moment. Athena huffed in a little bit of
frustration before looking up at him.
“I have come here to meet the person in that cell.” She said while pointing at the cell opposite of Stacey’s. Dominic’s frown
deepened when he realized where she was pointing at and suddenly he was in all alert mode. “What?! Why?! Why did you come
to meet that person? Do you freaking know how dangerous beis!” Dominic snapped, feeling really angry at her for being so
careless enough to come here without letting anyone know.
Athena frowned seeing him reacting like this. She was more confused after hearing what he said. Robert was dangerous? From
what sense?
“Calm down, Dominic. You are just getting paranoid. He is not dangerous at all. He can’t do much to anyone here.” Athena said
with a small shrug of her shoulder.
She couldn’t bring herself to be scared of Robert at all. After all, he was just a small thief and she spent almost all her life with
him. She knew how far his race or capability was.
“What you fucking know, Athena?! He is very dangerous and I know that. So, believe me when I say so and don’t argue with
me.” He snapped while sounding really pissed suddenly. Now Athena felt offended and annoyed for getting challenged and
shouted at. He was seriously challenging her about how much she knows Robert?! She knew him inside and out. Better than
anyone sees. “Of course, I am going to argue with you, Dominic. Because I know him better than anyone else here. And trust me
when I say he is not dangerous at all. He can’t do anything at all as long as he is stuck there.” Athena explained with another
small shrug, she was still trying to be casual about this. But Dominic just couldn’t take it anymore. He was equally confused
along with being angry. “How do you know him so well?” He asked in a dark tone.
Anything related to the person in the cell opposite to him angers him beyond limit. He sees nothing else but blood red whenever
he remembers Robert or anything related to him. He freaking hates that man and anything related to him. If only Robert wasn’t
important to him for his goal, he would have burned him alive long ago.
“Because he is my father, Dominic!” Athena snapped out loud at the heat of the moment and the moment those words left her
mouth, she realized what she said.
It was a slip of tongue. She was bound to old habits. She wanted to explain this to him quickly but the next thing she realized that
Dominic pushed her away from himself. She looked up at him with a confused frown and found him looking at her with a look of
betrayal in his eyes. She frowned deeply and before she could say something, his next words literally broke her world apart. “You
are the daughter of the betrayer who betrayed my father and got him killed?”
