Chapter 196
Chapter 196
Tighing softly, Lily placed the cold natmeal back in the bowl and stirred it. "Hayden, for my sake, you have to
hang on."
The only response she got was the usual silence.
She repeatedly brought the oatmeal to Hayden's mouth, and after an hour, she finally finished feeding him. Only
then did she pick up the other bowl of cold oatmeal and eat it in large bites. By the tshe finished treating
him, it was already 10:00p.m.
The night air was biting cold, cutting through her thick winter coat and seeping into her bones. She stood at the
bus stop, waiting for the last bus, her head lowered as she scrolled through her Instagram. Suddenly, Sarah's
post caught her eye-an image of the Avelon Designs Competition judge's balge. The caption read, "To the
candidates who passed the preliminary round, see you at the semifinals!"

A strand of hair fell from behind her ear, brushing the screen and briefly illuminating it before the light faded
again.
Lily was a bit dazed. Her intuition told her that every tSarah posted something, it was a subtle hint. But all
she could do was wait. She bit her lip, her brows furrowing in thought.
Just then, a gust of cold wind blew past, snapping her out of her thoughts. When she looked up, she realized the
last bus had already left. When the driver noticed no one or just one person at the bus stop, they would hank to
ask if anyone was boarding
Lily had been so absorbed in her thoughts that she hadn't heard the horn, so the driver assumed she wasn't
getting on and drove off. "Wait!" She stuffed her phone into her pocket and started running after the bus.
Trying to catch up with the bus on foot was futile. She fell farther behind, watching helplessly as the bus
disappeared around the corner.
She stopped, leaning forward with her hands on her knees, breathing heavily, her mouth slightly open as she
caught her breath.
Not far away, a Maybach slowly pulled over to the side of the road. Timothy, in the passenger seat, spoke up
"Mr. Fulton, it's Mrs. Fulton."
Xavier lazily raised his eyelids. Through the rearview mirror, he saw the empty street and the thin, frail figure of
the wainan
"It seems she missed the bus, Timothy remarked, having seen someone chasing the bus earlier and only
realizing it was Lily after she got closer.
He looked at Xavier through the mirror, waiting for his command.
Xavier was deep in thought. Given their life paths, the chances of them running into each other by coincidence
were slim.
But just a few days after bringing up the divorce, they had run into each other multiple times. So, was it really
that much of a coincidence?
As he pondered, Lily walked toward them. As she approached, she finally recognized that it was Xavier's car.
The car was idling, the headlights on, but the interior was dark. She could vaguely sense his intense gaze inside
the car. It reminded her of his expression when he saw her at the hospital last tand his words. Xavier didn't

The window suddenly rolled down when she was level with the driver's seat.
Timothy smiled slightly and respectfully nodded. "Mrs. Fulton, it's late. Should | give you a ride home?" Before he
finished speaking, the seat beside him was suddenly kicked hard
It was Xavier, his eyes sharp and filled with anger.
"No thanks," Lily faintly saw the vague outline of the man in the backseat, radiating displeasure.
Not wanting to make a scene, she walked past the car, intending to hail a taxi.
Timothy didn't quite understand the meaning of Xavier's gesture. He glanced at Xavier in the rearview mirror,
only to see Xavier's gaze fixed firmly on
He misunderstood again, opening the car door and getting out.
"Mrs Fulton, please just get in the car. Mr. Fulton is waiting for you!"
