Sherman practically worshipped Anthea.

In his eyes, she could do no wrong-she was good at everything.

Every tsomething impressive happened, he'd insist it was all thanks to Anthea. No matter what it was, he'd

try to give her the credit.

But that was so unfair to Rebecca.

After all, she'd once been his fiancée. How could Sherman just turn his back on all those years and act like none

of it mattered?

Daniel's voice cut through the tension as he turned to Hector. "Hector, you can't let yourself get fooled by some

fake video! It's obviously edited-everyone can see that! Rebecca was the one driving, not Anthea. Sherman just

misunderstood her, that's all. | swear on my life, it was Rebecca behind the wheel!"

Rebecca's eyes reddened, and she spoke up, her voice trembling with hurt. "It's always the same, isn't it? The

poor can't outsmart the rich, and the rich can't outmaneuver those in power. Daniel, let's just drop it. If Mr.

Christensen says it wasn'tdriving, then | guess it wasn't me."

Her words carried a sharp undertone.

She was hinting that Sherman was using his influence to steamroll her- snatching away the recognition that

should have been hers.

Hector hesitated, uncertain whom to believe.

Chase glanced over at Rebecca. "Ms. Morris, Mr. Christensen knew you'd say that, so he had the training car

brought over just for you. If you really were the one driving in the video, why not show us your skills right here

and now?"

As he finished, Chase placed the car keys on the table.

Hector chimed in, "Yeah, Ms. Morris, why not give us a demonstration?"

Rebecca fell silent for a moment.

Then, tears spilled down her cheeks.

Hector frowned, clearly frustrated. Was she really going to cry at the drop of a hat?

Daniel's heart ached for her. "Chase, that's not fair! Rebecca's family just went through a huge ordeal-she's in no

state to drive right now!"

Chase's tone was cool. "What does a bad mood have to do with racing? The truth is, Ms. Morris doesn't know the

first thing about racing. That's why she won't do it."

He turned to Hector. "Mr. Holt, Mr. Christensen said you're a professional. You should be able to tell at a glance

whether the video's real or not."

Hector was sharp-he couldn't afford not to be, not with things this far gone.

The truth was painfully clear: Rebecca couldn't race.

She was terrified because she didn't know how.

Like Chase said, a rough patch in life doesn't stop you from getting behind the wheel—unless you're physically

incapable. And Rebecca wasn't.

If she were really the driver, she'd have jumped at the chance to prove herself and silence Chase's doubts.

But she didn't.

She was hiding something.

Hector looked up at Chase. "Chase, | believe you now. The person in the video

really is my idol. Can you taketo meet her?"

The words were barely out when Rebecca's face twisted in fury.

Anthea. Always Anthea.

It wasn't enough that Anthea had stolen her identity as a child-now, as adults, she was taking everything else

Rebecca had left.

Shameless.

Chase nodded. "That'll be up to Mr. Christensen. For now, please cwithto see him."

"Of course." Hector followed at once.

"Hector! You're falling for Sherman's lies!" Daniel grabbed Hector's wrist, desperate to stop him from leaving.

He couldn't let Hector walk away-if he did, what would happen to Rebecca? What about the Morris Corporation?

Hector was their last hope.

Turning back, Hector lowered his voice. "Daniel, be honest with me. She's your old flame, isn't she? I& heard your

dad froze your accounts and fired you. You've got nothing left, so now you're teaming up with her to trickinto

helping out, right?”

The more Hector thought about it, the less sense any of this made.

It had to be a setup-Daniel was trying to con him.

Daniel had kept steering the conversation toward the Morris Group's downfall, subtly dropping hints about their

bankruptcy. It was obvious-Daniel wanted Hector to bait them out.

"No! I'm not lying to you!" Daniel pale with anxiety, desperate for

Hector to believe him. "You bes

trust me—the woman in that@ar was Rebecca!"
