Chapter 520

As she passed through the living room, the girl shot a glance at Rebecca, who was lounging on the sofa.

Daniel really could change his attitude in a heartbeat-one moment cold, the next fawning. She had expected to

find ssort of seductive vixen here.

But this Rebecca? She was nothing special.

Plain and uninspired.

Not even half as alluring as herself.

Daniel's taste in women was truly abysmal.

While the girl sized up Rebecca, Rebecca looked up and met her gaze, her eyes brimming with mockery.

So what if she was pretty?

So what if she shared Daniel's bed?

In Daniel's heart, she would always be the most important one. She didn't even need to lift a finger-Daniel, that

fool, would move mountains for her if she so much as hinted.

Three minutes later.

Daniel emerged from the bedroom, dressed and composed, and poured Rebecca a glass of water.

"Thank you, Daniel," Rebecca said, taking the glass with both hands.

"You're welcome." Daniel hesitated, then asked, "Rebecca, is something wrong? Are you in trouble?"

At his words, Rebecca broke down in tears. "Daniel..."

"What's wrong?" Seeing her cry, Daniel's heart ached.

Rebecca threw her arms around him, sobbing. "Daniel, someone's targeting our family. We're on the brink of

bankruptcy... Daniel, what am | supposed to do?"

Rebecca was no fool. Since fate hadn't thrown her into Daniel's path, she'd cto him herself—and with the

situation this dire, there was no point beating around the bush.

Daniel stiffened for a second, then tried to reassure her. "Don't worry, Rebecca. You're a good person-your family

isn't going to go under. I'll help you."

"Really?" Rebecca looked up at him, her eyes shimmering with tears.

Daniel reached out and gently wiped her cheeks. "Really. Don't cry, Rebecca. Something like this isn't worth your

tears."

Touched, Rebecca hugged him tighter. "Thank you, Daniel." Out of his line of sight, a sly, venomous smile curved

Rebecca's lips. Daniel was as reliable a stepping stone as ever.

"Of course."

Rebecca went on, "By the way, Daniel, could you helpfind out who's after the Morris Group?"

"Absolutely. Even if you hadn't asked, I'd already be looking into it." He was itching to see who dared challenge

his authority.

Didn't they know the Morris Group had him backing them?

Rebecca knew Daniel would fight her battles for her.

If it turned out to be AY behind it, not only would the Robinson Group strike back,

but Mr. Christensen himself might get involved. Compared to the Christensen family, AY was nothing.

Once that happened, it wouldn't be her family teetering on the edge of ruin it would be Anthea's.

The thought filled Rebecca with glee.

That little tramp Anthea wanted to compete with her? She had no idea how outmatched she was.

Rebecca returned home.

Her father, Daly, greeted her at the door.

Before he could say a word,

Rebecca smiled reassuringly. "Dad,

don't worry. Mr. Robinson has

already agreed to invest in our

company, and hell make sure Revenue House gets in touch with us soon."

Daly let out a long breath, relief written all over his face.

His daughter really was resourceful!

After dropping Rebecca off at the Morris family home, Daniel made a call to his secretary. "Hello, Baber?"

"Yes, Mr. Robinson?"

"I want to take a stake in the Morris Group. Also, transfer both of our company's

major new projects to them."

"Understood, Mr. Robinson."

The secretary hung up and got to work.

Ten minutes later.

Daniel's phone rang again—it was his secretary. "Is everything done?"

The secretary hesitated. "I'm sorry, Mr. Robinson, but your position has been revoked by the chairman. You

currently have no authority to invest in the Morris Group or sign off on company partnerships."

"What did you say?" Daniel couldn't believe his ears.

The secretary repeated his words.

Only then did Daniel realize he hadn't misheard. He immediately dialed his father, Jake Robinson.

He didn't bother hiding his frustration. "Why did you stripof my position?"

Jake exploded. "You've got some

nerve askingthat! Have you even

thought about the mess you've made since you got to Cloudcrest All you do is party and chase women! You lost

half a billion last time, and now you want to throw more money at the Morris Group? My money isn't for funding

your little flings!"

With that, Jake slammed the phone down.

Daniel tried calling back, but all he got was a busy signal.

He'd been blocked-cut off completely.

Daniel was Jake's youngest son, spoiled and indulged since he was a child. His

father had always turned a blind eye to his antics.

So why, this time, had Jake pulled the plug on him?
