Chapter 403
Maja had called Carol during this time, telling her she had already left and telling Carol not to hook her
up with any more dudes.
As for her being stuck on the roof, she didn’t mention it. After all, if lan didn’t show up, the worst–case
scenario would be being spotted by the janitor.
She was sitting in the hallway, leaning against the wall. Her feet were sore from standing in high heels
all night.
When she heard footsteps in the hallway, she quickly looked up and saw lan.
Maja hurriedly got to her feet.
She said a bit piteously, “Mr. Raymond, you came.”
She didn’t dare to get mad at lan. If she pissed him off, her fate might be like ByteWise Technologies.
lan stood by her side, and after a few seconds, he said, “Let’s go.”
Maja followed closely behind him, afraid of being left on the roof again.
They walked all the way to the underground garage.
Seeing the underground garage now, she felt a bit uncomfortable.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtlan opened the car door, signalling her to get in.
Maja looked away, her voice hesitant.
“Mr. Raymond, didn’t you say you would take a week off?”
lan raised an eyebrow, chuckled, and after a while, he said, “I’ll drive you home.”
At this point, Maja breathed a sigh of relief, got into the car without pressure, and buckled her seat belt.
lan sat in the driver’s seat, expertly reversed the car, and drove out of the garage.
While waiting for the traffic light, lan handed her a handkerchief.
Maja was a bit puzzled and heard him say, “Wipe off your lipstick.”
She had put on some dark lipstick when she left.
He had kissed her by the door a few hours ago, and the lipstick must have smudged.
She took the handkerchief and quietly wiped her lips, restoring her natural lip colour.
Then, Carol called.
“Maja, didn’t you say you were already home? Why is the door to RosenGarden still not open?”
Maja was startled. She was in lan’s car, and they were heading towards RosenGarden. If Carol saw
them, she couldn’t keep her relationship with lan a secret.
Maja had always hoped that her relationship with lan would be their secret.
At least, she didn’t want the people around her to know.
“Maja, did you go find that man again?”
Because lan was right beside her, Maja suddenly became a bit stuttery.
Carol laughed on the phone, “When will you be back. I want to spend some time with you tonight. Your
birthday is in half an hour.”
“I’ll be back soon.”
“You sure wrapped that up quick.”
Maja pretended not to hear the teasing.
When they arrived at RosenGarden, she quickly got out of the car after making sure Carol wasn’t
around.
“Mr. Raymond, goodbye.”
She said hurriedly and quickly left to find Carol.
lan nodded, and after he couldn’t see her, he glanced at the box Maja had left in the car.
He drove the car back to the hotel. When he got out of the car, he thought about it and brought the box
upstairs.
When Maja got out of the elevator, she saw Carol waiting.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmCarol’s eyes were sharp, and with one look, she noticed that Maja’s lipstick had been wiped off.
But she didn’t ask because she already knew.
Maja opened the door and took a small cake from Carol.
Although they didn’t like sweets, they prepared a cake every year.
Carol turned off the lights in the room and put two candles on the cake.
“Come on, Maja, make a wish. You can make as many as you want. I bought the cake, so it doesn’t
matter how many wishes you want to make
Maja found it amusing, so she put her hands together and looked serious.
First, she wished for Neil’s health to improve and for the Pennyfeather group to overcome their
difficulties.
Secondly, she wished to successfully divorce lan this year.
Just as she was about to blow out the candles, she had an idea and quickly made a third wish.
She wished to end the entanglement with lan as soon as possible, and from then on, they would owe
each other nothing.
Thinking of this, she felt a bit lost, thinking of the man who had once briefly appeared in her life.
He had promised to spend every birthday with her, but he had disappeared without warning in the sea
of people.
She had looked for that name in the Solstice College database.
But that name didn’t exist.
Turned out, she didn’t even know his real name.
