He secured the two marriage certificates, reminding his housekeeper not to forget to feed Ozzy.
For this reason, he had even hired a nutritionist to take care of Ozzy's meals, thrice daily. They already had a puppy at home, the
one he had tried to gift to Zoey, but she had rejected it. It worked out perfectly, now the two could keep each other company.
On the drive to the office, Sharon called him.
"Fitch, where on earth is Mia?"
Fitch had taken it upon himself to send Mia away and even had her cell phone number disconnected. Now, aside from him, no one
in the Haskins family had a clue about Mia's whereabouts.
"She's just seeing a therapist, with professionals to look after her."
"Fitch, we may have spoiled Mia rotten, but she's still your sister."
Fitch's expression turned icy in an instant, "The girl she killed was nineteen, just started college this year. That family lost their only
child, their son died in a car crash when he was ten. Her parents went through rounds of IVF in their forties to have her, and Mia
ran her over three times. If Mia wasn't my sister, she should be behind bars right now. Do you think money means anything to
them?"
Sharon instantly didn't dare to say anything else, managing an awkward laugh, "lI was just asking. Therapy is good, her attitude

Fitch didn't want to continue the conversation and was about to hang up.
But Sharon quickly changed the subject, "By the way, I've lined up a few girls around your age. You should meet them when you
have a chance."
"No need."
"Fitch, you're at that age now, and grandpa was asking about you the other day."
"Mom, I'm already married."
Sharon's heart skipped a beat, wondering if she was hearing things.
"Married? To whom, which family's daughter?”
"l don't want to talk about it now. We'll chat later."
Sharon didn't dare to anger him further and sheepishly ended the call.
Fitch tossed his phone aside and leaned back in his seat, feeling an unexplainable irritation growing inside him.
He didn't know what was wrong with him. He didn't even feel like returning to the Haskins household anymore.
Having rested overnight and feeling somewhat rejuvenated, Maja called Carol.
She didn't ask about the Miller family matters right away because she knew Carol all too well. They had known each other for
years, and Carol was a master at painting a rosy picture.
During their chat, she mentioned that Zoey was in jail for Mia.
Carol was fuming on the other end, "Is Fitch even human? His sister has always made life difficult for Zoey at social events,
constantly causing trouble for her, and now Zoey's actually in jail for Mia? Zoey, how could she... for such a man..."
She was cut off by the sound of the front door opening.
Felix had chfrom work, unfastening his cufflinks in the foyer.
Carol glanced away, a forced smile on her lips, "All for such a worthless man, she's really thrown her life away."
Felix, about to hang his suit jacket on the coat rack, paused for a few seconds upon hearing her words.
His face was expressionless as he casually hung up the jacket and loosened the tie around his neck.
The dining table in the living room was set with dishes that had clearly been ravaged, leaving only remnants of the feast.
Half an hour earlier, he had called to say he would be hfor dinner.
The chef had mentioned he would serve the meal five minutes early. Felix glanced at the woman sitting on the sofa, engrossed in
her phone call.
Carol seemed oblivious to his gaze as she continued talking to Maja.
Felix sat down at the dining table, with the chef beside him, visibly nervous.

In the brief moment he was turned away, the table had been devastated.
Felix picked up the cutlery beside him, his voice gentle, "No need, it's good that she has a hearty appetite. Just make extra next
time."
"Should | reheat the food?"
"No, it's fine."
He ate the cold dishes on the table.
The heater was on inside the house; normally, the food wouldn't have cooled so quickly.
Carol had deliberately blasted the air conditioning on cold for a few minutes, ensuring the dishes would chill rapidly.
