The big hand around my waist tightened almost imperceptibly for a couple of seconds.

I quickly glanced at Nathan's face. His chiseled jaw tightened a bit, and his lips pressed together. He said to me,
“Victoria, | need to talk to my sister for a minute. Wait here, okay?”
Since my rebirth, I'd becmore suspicious and sensitive. | nodded and turned to walk away.
Nathan stayed behind to talk to the biracial girl. | glanced back and saw that both of their expressions were
pretty serious.
Earlier, I'd taken the chance to size up that young, pretty girl. Even though she had a biracial look, her features
leaned Eastern, and she actually looked a bit like Nathan, especially around the eyes and brows.
Turns out they might actually be blood-related siblings after all.
The breeze drifting over from the river carried a hint of coolness through the night.
As my long hair swept across my cheek, | casually tucked it behind my ear.

Suddenly, a long-haired guy walked up to me, holding a DSLR camera. He greetedpolitely but with obvious
excitement, “Miss, we're with a magazine and currently working on a street style feature. Would you be
interested in letting us feature you? It's a paid opportunity-you’ll get a gift from us, and a free one-year
subscription to our magazine.”
| was a little overwhelmed and didn’t really catch what they were saying, but they were already eagerly showing
While | was being surrounded by the staff, Nathan's cool voice cut in, “Sorry, she’s not interested in being
photographed.”
Right after, Nathan firmly took my wrist and guidedout of their circle.
“Do you and your sister share the smother but have different fathers?” | couldn't help but ask, still curious.
Nathan nodded. “Yeah, she’s eight years younger than me.”
“Oh,” I said, “How cshe’s in Shaville?”
Nathan replied, “She’s here filming a reality show, competing to join a girl group.”
“She really stands out,” | said with a smile. “I'm sure she'll get picked.”
Nathan smiled. “I've already helped her make sconnections. She'll succeed.”
You're such a good brother,” | praised him with a grin.
“Yeah, she’s always been hardworking. | just hope she can make a nfor herself doing what she loves,”
Nathan said, a touch of melancholy in his eyes.
| looked at him, and he looked back at me. The next second, he wrapped his arm around my shoulders and
leaned down to kiss my forehead. “Victoria, I'll introduce you to my sister next time, okay?”
“It's fine, | don’t mind,” | replied. Honestly, | wasn’t really looking to get close to his family, since | wasn’t even
sure about us.
Right now, my mindset was basically that of a player-1 was just here to enjoy myself, not thinking about the
future at all. As long as

things were fun right now, that was enough for me.
Nathan paused for a moment, then asked in a slightly sour tone, “You don’t want to meet my family?”
“Let’s just go with the flow,” | said with a faint smile.
“Alright,” Nathan said, not pushing it. He helda bit tighter.
That night, | went to Nathan's hotel. He had a suite with a gorgeous night view right outside the window.
Nathan must have had sformal business to attend to today-he was dressed more sharply than usual in a
crisp white shirt, and his hair was perfectly styled. He really looked the part of a successful businessman.
Once we got inside, we didn’t get down to business right away. Nathan seemed preoccupied, like he had a lot on
his mind. He had drinks and food sent up, then handedhalf a glass of red wine.
“Victoria, I'm really happy you cback to the hotel withtoday,” Nathan said, leaning against the balcony
railing with the city lights twinkling behind him. His gaze was intense, almost burning.
With a lazy air, | took a sip of my wine and gave him a teasing smile. “Who knew you were so easy to satisfy.”.
Nathan chuckled, looking down. “When work keeps piling up, you start appreciating the little things in love. And
honestly, I've been waiting around for you all these years...”
| froze for a second, realizing that Nathan's feelings forhad turned into a kind of obsession, something
deeply embedded in his soul.
“Are you disappointed?” | asked him.
“Why would you say that?” Nathan looked over, a bit taken aback.
| turned away, looking out at the distant city lights. “Honestly, a lot of times, people get obsessed with someone
because they've imagined them as perfect. It’s like how so many people are always hung up on their first love.”
Nathan stared at me, his eyes full of complicated emotion’s.
