Chapter 313
| got out of the car at the entrance to the apartment complex and handed him the access card. “Just cup
yourself.”
Nathan took the card, looking a little surprised at first, but then his smile grew even bigger.
| could tell exactly what he was thinking. He felt like he'd just been given the official approval. It was like when a
woman got the keys to a guy’s place and immediately started imagining herself living there.
About ten minutes after | went upstairs, Nathan knocked on the door. | opened it, and he walked in, holding a
pair of brand-new slippers and a bag with his pajamas inside.
“Why did you bring clothes? Did you plan for this?” | asked, raising an eyebrow.
Nathan’s handsface turned a bit red as he mumbled, “No, I just keep them in the car in case | have to go on
a business trip.”
| nodded. “Okay, I'm going to take a shower. You should, too.”
Nathan had showered at my place before, but today he just stood there, his gaze almost burning into me.
“What's wrong?” | asked, feeling my cheeks warm under his stare.

Nathan gently took my finger in his hand, his voice low and husky as he asked, “Can we shower together?”
| couldn’t believe how bolder and shiftier he was compared to Jared.
“Please?” Nathan's handsface turned bright red.
There was something so sexy about a guy blushing. With him looking atlike that, | could never possibly say
no. Since he asked so sweetly, | would play along with him.
The bathroom was filled with steam. I'd filled the tub with hot water, and the lights glowed softly, casting a
warm, golden light.
| stood still, unmoving, when a warm body pressed against my back. Nathan, completely caught up in the
moment, leaned in and kissed me.
| turned to face him, meeting those deep, mesmerizing eyes. He let out a low chuckle and then closed the
distance again, His lips capture mine in a lingering, breath-stealing kiss.
Outside, the midnight breeze fluttered the sheer curtains, while inside, the water in the tub spilled over the edge
in wild waves, splashing onto the floor.
After passion, Nathan heldclose, wide awake. He gently twirled my long hair around his fingers and said
softly, “Victoria, | really love moments like
this.”
| couldn't sleep either, mainly because my body still ached a little. Thoughts from my previous life started
swirling in my mind.
So | asked, “Nathan, if I hadn't gotten divorced and you found out | was the one who paid for your schooling back
then, would you have cto find
me?”
| was pretty sure I'd never met him in my previous life, though the nNathan Wallace had cup once or
twice. It was just a brief mention, nothing that really stuck with me.
Nathan tensed up for a second and then replied with a bitter smile, “I don’t know. Maybe | would have wanted to
find you, but if you were married, | wouldn't have had the guts to reach out.”
“Really? So letask you this. If | hadn't gotten divorced, but you sawstruggling in my marriage, would you
have tried to rescue me?” | turned to meet his eyes, throwing out what | knew was a silly question.

He said in a low voice, “If you hadn’t divorced, how could | have saved you? Would | really want you to cheat on
your husband? How can | let everyone gossip about you and make your already broken marriage even worse?
“If you stayed married, it just meant your heart still belonged to Mr. Holcomb. If you loved him, not me, how
could | have ever saved you?”
| froze for a second and then gave him a fake glare. “Fair enough. Fine, | forgive you.”
Nathan looked at me, completely confused. “What did | do wrong that you need to forgivefor?”
| let out a laugh. “You didn’t do anything wrong. If anyone messed up, it was me.”
