Chapter 74 “Who‘s there?”

There‘s someone inside, and it sounds like Emma. Alice and Arianna smiled at each other.

Emma opened the door and was surprised to see Alice and Arianna outside, but she calmed down right

away. She held her head high and asked politely, “How may I help you?”

Arianna glared at her. “Rude of you to hang up on my mom, Emma.”

Emma shot back, “Why can‘t I? You expect me to just take the bashing?”

Alice sneered, “You deserve all the bashing You tried to seduce my son!”

Emma laughed mirthlessly. She crossed her arms and shot the ladies a dark look. “Listen here, ladies.

First, I‘ve never even approached Trevor after the divorce, so the seduction accusation is fake news.

Two, you‘re not even my family. You have no right to yell at me, so of course I hung up.”

“You.” Alice did not expect Emma to light back so adamantly. It was unlike the old her. Enraged, she

raised her hand against Emma.

However, Emma pointed her phone‘s camera at Alice before she could even land a hit. Emma took a

step back and held her phone up calmly. “Mrs. Bateson, the Internet is a fun place. Slap me, and I‘ll

upload the video, then badabing badaboom, your reputation is gone. Oh, and your son‘s company‘s

share prices might get hit 100. Think before you slap.”

Alice pulled her hand back reluctantly. The threat worked. She never thought a weakling like Emma

would pull a fast one on her.

Pushing Emma into a corner was not possible now, but retreating with her daughter was too mortifying.

The rage overwhelmed her as she clutched her chest and gasped before blacking out.

“Mom? Mom!” Arianna screeched in horror. She held her mother and leaned her against the wall.

Arianna kept calling her name, but Alice did not stir.

She wiped her tears away and pounced at Emma. “You b*tch! You did this to her! I–I‘ll kill you!”

Emma slapped Arianna in return and raised her voice, “Call the ambulance, or you’re only killing your

own mother.”

Arianna snapped out of it and called the anbulance. She made a call to her brother

while the ambulance was on its way, and once the call connected, she screamed hysterically, “Mom‘s

fainted, and it‘s all Emma‘s fault! Don‘t even try to defend her this time!”

Emina was deathly calm compared to Arianna. She had been recording all this while in case Arianna

told everyone lies and ruined her réputation.

Arianna was a great liar after all.

Trevor came at the same time the ambulance arrived since he was just nearby after all. After the doctor

took Alice away on a stretcher, he frowned at Emma. “What happened?”

She pointed upward. “The surveillance camera footage and recording in my phone will tell you

everything. That‘s all I will say.”

Emma‘s dislike for Trevor mounted after his mother and sister came looking for trouble, and she went

around him right away. He could feel that she disliked him even more now.

Cerys had followed him here as well because she thought it was impossible to clear things up at the

moment, so she said, “Mr. Bateson, you should head to the hospital as well.”

Trevor took the advice and drove away. Cerys went back into the house to see how Emma was doing

and noticed that Emma was curled up on the couch and cuddled her legs. As a result, she wondered if

Emma was crying as she went to pour Emma a glass of warm water. “Are you okay?” She sat down

beside Emma.

Emma looked up and took the glass of water. “Thanks,” she whispered.

Her eyes were red, and her hands were icy cold. Cerys felt bad for her.

Emma took a swig of the water and felt herself warming up a little. She might look calm about Alice

fainting, but in reality, her blood had run cold. Everything would be fine if Alice got through this, but if

she died, Emma would be in trouble.

Cerys assured her, “She should be fine. Her health has been declining for a long time now. Ever since

she found out about her husband‘s affair, she has been a changed woman.”

Of course she changed. Her husband cheated on her. Cerys asked her what happened, and Emma

sighed. “I was just trying to write my script when Alice called me. She yelled at me the moment I picked

up the call, so I hung up, then both of them came here. I still have no idea how they found out where

Cerys her phone. “And the rest is in the video.”

Cerys watched the video and shook her head. “This is not how people of her stature should act.”

She velled and cursed, then came here just lo slap Emma? That‘s so basic. No aristocrat worth their

salt would do that. Cerys had seen a lot of rich ladies after she started working for Trevor. Most of them

were arrogant, especially when they were dealing with civilians like Emma. Alice and Arianna tried to

bully Emma because she was a civilian, and they thought she was still as weak as she used to be.

Emma laughed at herself. “Odd, don‘t you think? I have no idea what I did this time.”

Cerys was quiet for a moment, then she turned to Emma. “I know why they came.”

“Mr. Bateson asked Arianna out for lunch and told her she would be going abroad.” She was her

assistant, so of course she knew about it. She had booked the restaurant for Trevor while Cyrus was

handling the arrangements to send Arianna abroad to study

Emma was surprised. “She‘s going abroad?

Cerys nodded. “Yes.” After that, she explained, “Your brother only found out where you live because

Arianna told him.”

Emma was surprised once more, but it went away quickly. Based on her understanding of Arianna, she

would indeed do something like that.

Cerys looked at her and tried to put in a good word for her employer. “Mr. Bateson probably did this so

that she can‘t hurt you anymore.” Trevor never told her how he felt about Emma, but Cerys had a

feeling that he was trying to please her. He wouldn‘t take her side every time otherwise
