Chapter 120 When the employees heard what Cerys said, they all hung their heads in despair. Although Trevor had

only targeted his ire at some of them today, who knew how many would find themselves attacked if this

went on?

Cerys had planned on placating their worries, but soon realized there was nothing she could do or say.

After all, she was also feeling dejected about the situation. Emma was dating Wesley now. What if they

actually fell in love and never broke up? Would Trevor continue to brood?

In the end, the only thing she could do was change the topic. “It is getting late. Everyone, clock off.”

“Can you tell us why Mr. Bateson is in a bad mood?” The first colleague who had stopped her asked in

a whisper. “We can all brainstorm a solution.”

“We might not be able to help him with this,” replied Cerys.

The only person who could cure this disease was Emma. If they were not her, they could not ease

Trevor‘s troubles.

The colleague pouted at that. “I sce. So, it is most likely a love issue.”

“I know how to solve that,” said one of the guys in the office, raising his hand. “Tell him to pursue the

girl he likes. Even if nothing comes out of it, he will not regret his time doing so, right?”

“However,” he then continued, scratching his head in confusion, “based on who Mr. Bateson is, he

could have any woman he wants. Why would he be frustrated over love?”

“Yeah,” said the others in agreement. “How could he have any relationship problems?”

Cerys wanted to know the answer to the question too. Nevertheless, that was the problem that was

plaguing their boss.

In fact, he had fallen for the ex–wife he had once had no love for.

The first colleague was about to speak when she looked up to find Trevor standing outside the office

they were in.

The shock made her go pale in fear. She let go of Cerys arm and shouted, “Mr. Bateson!”

She then hurricdly recalled her words, analyzing if she had mistakenly insulied Trevor in the event he

tried to punish her.

To everyone‘s surprise, Trevor left without saying a single word, and they all let out a sigh of relief.

His sudden appearance had started Cerys as well. Hence, she swiftly said her goodbyes and ran after

Trevor.||

He was waiting for the lift when she reached him. “Mr. Bateson…”

“We were just joking around.” She felt the need to speak in her colleagues‘ defense. After all, Trevor

had been in a bad mood for several days now.

“I was merely passing by,” he calmly stated.

In translation, that meant he did not hear anything that had been said.

However, no matter what he said, the suggestion raised by one of the guys–lo pursue her because

even if his attempts failed, he would regret nothing–echoed through his mind.

He had never pursued anyone in his life, so he did not know how to go about it.

After all, he did not get together with Crystal because he tried to impress her. They dated because she

liked him. After a few dates, they began to formally date each other.

Even so, what did the guy mean by ‘having no regrets even if nothing came of it‘?

Based on the kind of person Trevor was, the only acceptable outcome for going after a love interest

was a success.

Cerys glanced at Trevor‘s calm face and secretly let out a sigh of relief. Thank goodness he had not

heard what they were talking about.

When he drove away from the underground parking lot, his car inadvertently headed toward Emma‘s

home.

However, one junction before arriving, he turned and drove away from the place instead.

Emma would be exhausted after arriving home. Since he would be seeing her at the book launch

tomorrow, he would save his words for then.

By the time Emma arrived home, it was late in the evening. She unpacked her belongings before taking

a quick shower. As soon as she was done, she went to bed. Her trip had been exhausting.

However, just as she arrived home, voices began to chatter inside a van parked on the street near her

place.

“Miss Bateson, the woman you had us keep an eye on, is back home,” said a thug on the phone. His

hair had been dyed blond.

“Great!” said the woman over the phone. Her voice was evil and menacing. “Continue keeping an eye

on her. As soon as she leaves her home, kidnap her and enact the plan we discussed.”

“Okay,” happily replied the thug. “You will definitely be happy with our results.”

After the call ended, the blond thug said to his companion, “We have to make sure this goes perfectly.

It is a big sum, after all!

His companion nodded. “Yes. Just the thought of the number is enough for me to risk my life.”

“Miss Bateson even said we could have a taste of the girl when we have her,” said the blond thug with

a lusty look in his eyes. “Did you see her? She is exceptionally beautiful. We will have a lot of fun.”

His companion guffawed. “Her skin is so fair and smooth. Her legs are also slender.”

He shivered in between words. There was a lecherous glint in his eyes. “I go hard every time I think

about those legs around my waist.”

The blond slapped him on the shoulder, and the two thugs began cackling away inside the van.

As Wilson‘s book launch was happening at ten in the morning, Emma left her home at nine.

The place she lived was quite far away from the bookstore, so she needed to take a train to get there.

On her way toward the train station, she sensed a car following her. At first, she thought nothing of it.

Surely nothing would happen in broad daylight.

However, she soon felt off about the situation. As she was about to go through an isolated stretch of

the road, she quickened her pace.

Just then, the van behind her dashed ahead to block her from walking forward. Before she could even

shout, a burly man came out of the van and dragged her into

it.

The van‘s door slammed shut, and Emma soon fainted from the sedative found in the napkin being

held over her nose and mouth.

At nine–thirty, Trevor met with Wilson at the cafe near Gray‘s Bookstore.

Wilson was a scholarly–looking man with a pair of gold–rimmed spectacles perched on his nose. He

looked as elegant and sophisticated as a scholar should be.

They had a great chat. Trevor sincerely wanted to purchase the rights to Wilson‘s works; Wilson

admired the way Trevor did business.

At the end of their talk, Wilson told him of his conditions. “However, I must first let you know that I

cannot be the person adapting the book into a script due to my wife‘s poor health.”

I

“Additionally, anyone you ask to do the job must pass my test first. I treasure my reputation and stories.

I do not want my story to be in the hands of some weak writer.”
