Chapter 279
“Are your hands okay?” Lisa asked with concem.
“They’re fine,” replied Serenity, “The injury looks worse than it is because of the bandages. My hands
barely hurt anymore. I can hold things just fine,”
Lisa heaved a sigh of relief.
The two girls chatted as they ate. Lisa finally explained to Serenity what she meant when she said she
found a witness Lisa’s -worker shared a video in their work chat group in which Lisa saw one of the
witnesses from Serenity’s case.
The man recently got married to a relative of one of Lisa’s co–workers. He was currently living in San
Marco.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtLisa pretended to casually ask her co–worker for his name. Unfortunately, her co–worker did not know.
She did say that his Surname was York, though
“York” was not a very common surname, so Lisa was pretty sure it was not a mistake.
But just in case, Lisa showed Serenity the video.
It was a video of a pair of newlyweds being teased. The scene was joyful and filled with laughter.
Serenity eyes were fixated on the groom
The groom was all smiles. He joked raucously with the people around him.
It was just a very ordinary video. The only thing that was unordinary was the groom.
Serenity felt like a storm was brewing in her heart. She could still vividly remember that chubby face.
That man once testified in court that he saw her drinking liquor. He said he tried to persuade her not to
drive after drinking, but she refused and stubbornly drove away!
But those things never happened.
She did not know that man. She simply dined in the same restaurant as him that evening. He sat at the
table next to her.
She still did not understand why he would say those things in court. Did someone tell him to say that?
Was someone trying to frame her?
But it was precisely because the witness did not have any reason to be that the judge felt his testimony
was credible.
Especially since more than one witness accused her of the same thing.
“Is it him?” asked Lisa.
“I think so,” replied Serenity, “Can you find out his whereabouts?”
“It shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll ask my co–worker later,” said Lisa, “Do you plan to look for him in San

but I’ll have to do some basic investigation first. All the other witnesses are nowhere to be found, so
he’s my only clue, ” said Serenity.
Lisa understood her friend’s concern. She was afraid of losing the only clue she had if she made a rash
move.
After all, the car accident was just way too bizarre. Many eye–witnesses testified against Serenity
afterwards, as if there was someone pulling the strings from behind the scenes.
“Okay, let’s investigate first,” said Lisa
While the two girls were chatting, Serenity suddenly loolust up as if she sensed something. She saw a
car that was parked not far away. The car’s window was open, and a man in the car was loolding in
their direction.
