Chapter 275
“No one will fire you,” he assured her with full confidence. “Just rest and let your fingers heal. Besides,
what do you think you can do at work when you can’t even pick anything up with your hands? How are
you going to sweep the streets?”
Serenity hung her head low and fell silent. At the moment, with her hands like this, she truly could not
do anything at all.
“Just let your hands heal,” said Jackson, and you can do anything you like after that.”
Then, he looked like he suddenly thought of something and asked her, “Are you going to meet Lisa this
evening? Why don’t you change the date and wait for your hands to get better?”
Anyone who knew Jackson Valor would have been shocked to hear what he had just said. The most
mysterious and unfathomable man in Solaria certainly never shown such a level of concern for a
woman whose hands were injured!

he still would show no sign of pity or concer
“No,” she insisted firmly, “I must go meet her this evening. It sounded like Lasa’s got new information
about a witness in my case all those years ago. I must go see her and talk about what she’s found.”
As she spoke, she failed to notice his change of expression and how his hands, which had been
hanging by his sides, were now slowly clenched into balls of fists
“Information about a witness?”
“Mmhmm,” she nodded. “But I need to ask Lisa about the specifics.”
“So, you’re determined to find the clues and solve the case yourself?” he asked, raising a hand to
brush away a stray strand of hair from her cheek. “I told you before-I can help you overturn the verdict,
so there’s no need for you to run around trying to solve the case when you might end up with nothing at
all in the end.”
But you’ll only overturn the verdict,” she argued, “and not actually help me find the real culprit in that
car crash, right? You won’t help me find out who was the person who implicated me with the crime and
slap me with the label of a criminal which I must bear for the rest of my life, will you? You’re just going
to help me overturns the verdict through the lack of concrete proof for my guilt, but then, even if my
criminal records are wiped clean, I’ll still be guilty in everyone’s eyes.”
“Is other people’s opinion of you so important?” Jackson asked, frowning
Serenity smiled wryly and replied, “If it’s about anything else, I would’ve never concerned myself with
what other people think of me, but this crime. I must find out the truth for myself, and I want everyone to
know that I’m not a murderer!”
She did not want people to think of her mother as the woman who gave birth to a daughter that killed
someone. She, of all people, knew how much damage mocking words could cause as she had
personally experienced it herself.

Jackson stared at Serenity intently for a while and then suddenly smiled.
“Okay, then, but if you ever change your mind and want me to overturn the verdict, just tell me.”
Despite the smile, there was a frightening darkness deep in his eyes.
Serenity spent the whole afternoon carefully picking out the photos in the album one by one. She even
painstakingly picked out the photos that were half-burnt, but because her hands were bandaged, the
jab was naturally a laborious oive for her.
“let me do it,” Jackson offered.
Then, with his long, slender fingers, he helped her pull out the photos from the albums. Compared to
Iver awkward and bungling movements, his were deft and elegant, even pleasing to the eye.
Hut right now, Serenity was not in the mood to appreciate his gracefulness because all of her attention
was focused on each and every photo taken out from the album as she checked each one for how
seriously They were damaged.
Meanwhile, Jackson was also trying to picture the memories Serenity had of her ther through the
photos.
