Chapter 262
Jackson’s words made Serenity jolt in shock. She looked up, somewhat startled, and met Jackson’s
clear eyes.
Liliana’s face changed, and she let out a dry laugh as she said, “Mr. Valor, you love Serenity so much. I
couldn’t tell at all. Do you plan to get married?”
“If she wants to, I’ll gladly marry her,” Jackson said.
Jackson’s words had Serenity’s heart thundering in her chest. She turned to Jackson in disbelief,
almost as if she had heard something unthinkable.
“Seriously?! That’s impossible!” Liliana blurted out.

The coldness in his eyes made Liliana shiver, and a kind of fear rose in her heart.
“Alright, Serenity, time to go.” Jackson took Serenity’s hand and left the cafe. Serenity followed Jackson
out without objection.
Benjamin looked at Liliana disapprovingly, “Lily, why did you mention your friend’s past in jail?
Fortunately, Mr. Valor is aware of it. If not, it’ll strain their relationship. They may even break up.”
“I did that on purpose!” Liliana thought with hatred. When she noticed the cup of coffee on the table,
she suddenly realized Jackson had only had a sip of this expensive cup of coffee and left.
“Hmph. I think her boyfriend is just a show. He only took a sip of coffee and stopped drinking. I guess
he has never ever had a good cup of coffee. He probably doesn’t even know how to enjoy the good
stuff.” Liliana went on and on, thinking that her guess was right.
Lilian then thought about it. That man was willing to marry a sanitation worker who had been in prison
before. He was most likely just a pretty good-looking but broke guy.
“Lily, you shouldn’t say that about others.” Benjamin frowned slightly, not liking how his girlfriend talked
about her friends.
Liliana did not care at all. When she called the waiter to pay the bill, what the waiter said surprised her.
“The other gentleman’s subordinate has paid for the bill.”
Subordinate?

Liliana blinked in confusion. The man named Valor had subordinates. How come they never noticed
them earlier?
And… The bill had been settled? This meal was not cheap at all. It was just a few cups of coffee, but
the bill came close to 150 dollars.
An average working-class person could not afford to drink this. Did the guy earlier just pay the bill
without saying a word? Who was he? Was he showing off, or was he really wealthy? Liliana grimaced
at her thoughts.
On the other side, with Jackson and Serenity. As they left the mall, Serenity suddenly spoke up, “I know
you said those words to Liliana on purpose. I won’t take your words to heart.”
“Your former colleague has such a terrible personality,” Jackson remarked.
Serenity had no comments. Assuming she and Jackson were a real couple, Liliana was clearly
malicious with her words and intended to cause trouble.
