Chapter 290
Jules was stunned. “You want to recommend Vivian?”
“No.” Caroline shook her head.
“When it comes to work, Vivian is flawless. But she’s just too envious of others. If you can’t find anyone in a pinch, you can have her take the position for the time being. But my suggestion is that you should find the right candidate as soon as possible to fill such an important post.”
Jules smiled a little. “Honestly, I was still worried that you wouldn’t be able to handle the position of Evans Group’s CEO. But after hearing you say that I think Evans Group will only grow bigger and better in your hands.”
Caroline looked at problems with an unbiased eye. She didn’t consider her own likes or dislikes.
She could even be so fair toward Vivian, who had caused her problem after problem. It was a rare thing.
Caroline answered, “Thank you for your praise, Mr. Hawkins. I’ll go back to my office now.”
“Alright.”
When she got back to her office, Caroline saw Cheryl’s eyes red from crying.
“What is it?” she asked in concem.

“Did someone pick on you?”
Cheryl looked at Caroline with wide eyes but didn’t speak.
Caroline frowned. “What happened?”
“Caroline, are you–are you really leaving?” Cheryl sobbed.
Rumors about Caroline leaving had been going around this morning. Cheryl refused to believe it until this afternoon, when HR put out a job vacancy notice. At that point, she couldn’t deny it anymore.
Caroline smiled. “Yes.”
Cheryl felt even worse after that. She was truly a failure as an assistant. She was only now finding out that her boss was leaving!
*Caroline, are you leaving because I’m too stupid and you can’t stand me anymore?”
Caroline was at a loss for words. Cheryl was really thinking too much.
“It’s not that. I have something going on,” Caroline said vaguely.
She didn’t want to be too open about the situation before it was settled.
However, Cheryl thought that it was because of Vivian. She hugged Caroline and said, “Caroline, once you find your next company, I want to be your assistant there too.”
Caroline was amused by Cheryl’s words. She patted Cheryl on the shoulders. “How can you have so little ambition? You should try becoming a department head!”

Cheryl only took it as a joke on Caroline’s part. She sniffed and said, “I just want to work for you.”
Caroline comforted her some more. Once Cheryl had her emotions under control, she opened the door and walked out in embarrassment.
But once she got out, she saw Vivian, who was walking around with a pep in her step. Cheryl frowned in disdain.
But Vivian barely took notice of Cheryl. She pushed her aside as she took a seat opposite Caroline, looking pleased. She said, “Do your know where I’ve just been?”

Everyone outside Caroline’s office had long begun to pay attention to this conversation.
Vivian intentionally paused for a long moment. Then, she said, “Mr. Hawkins said you’re leaving next month and asked me to take your

Jules had said that it would be a temporary position, but Vivian had intentionally left that out.
When the others heard this, they all exchanged looks with each other.
The only constant in life was change. Though Caroline seemed to be doing well in the company, she had been fired in the blink of an eye.
Yet Caroline didn’t even bother to look up. “Are you done? If so, please close the door when you leave.”
Vivian was speechless. She really wanted to hit something at the moment. But then, she started laughing soon after.
Once she found out what Caroline did wrong, she would spread the word far and wide so that Caroline wouldn’t get another job in this industry.
At the thought of that, she smiled even wider. “Alright. Then I won’t disturb you enjoying your last moments here, Ms. Evans.”
Caroline waited until the door was closed before she allowed herself to smile.
She took out the proof she had gotten from Quentin about Vivian buying the Rosebow Contest prize and grinned.
