Chapter 786

“Come here.” Eddy didn’t care if Caroline agreed to it or not anymore.

He simply took out his phone and took a shot of her wearing the ring and uploaded it on social media.

Even after uploading the photo, he still thought it wasn’t enough. He contacted some reporters in the

entertainment industry so that the photo made the headlines.

In just a few hours, the news of them getting married became a hot topic. It came as quite a shock to the many

gossipers in the entertainment section.

“What’s going on? Doesn’t Eddy like Layla? Why is he marrying Caroline?”

“I’m flabbergasted. Everyone says that the entertainment industry is a hellhole. Why does it seem like the filthy rich

are even more chaotic?”

“Isn’t Caroline married already?”

“Breaking news: Layla’s in a coma now.”

“What? What just happened? Wasn’t she just fine a few days ago? How did she become like this?”

“I’m not sure, but I heard that she got into an accident. Nobody knows for sure what happened to her.”

“Fuck. The social circle of the rich is truly a horrible mess.”

Despite the comments stating that the whole thing was messed up, there were still lots of people who gave Caroline

and Eddy their blessings.

“She’s a princess, and he’s a knight in shining armor. I think they’re a match made in heaven.”

“Yeah! Mr. Morrison Senior had wanted Caroline and Eddy to get engaged back then. Everything just got

back on track.”

“Caroline’s a much better match for Eddy compared to that scheming Layla.”

The news stirred up such a commotion that Gwen and Cheryl heard of it without even needing to go

online.

Cheryl couldn’t stand it anymore, so she sent a message in the group chat. “Kirk sees all of this, right?”

Gwen had filled Cheryl and Sonia in about how Caroline had lost her memories, so all of them had

learned of Kirk’s true identity.

Sonia replied, “Of course, he does. He watches her every move. How could he not know about this?”

“Then…” Cheryl was at a loss for words, and Sonia fell silent too.

Eventually, it was Gwen who broke the silence. “I’m not worried about Kirk. It’s Carol I’m worried about.”–

“I’m sure she didn’t do it on her own accord. It’s just that she has lost her memories.”

Gwen continued, “She must have agreed to marry Eddy in a daze.”

“What can we do to help her then?” Cheryl asked.

“Nothing will work unless we tell Caroline the truth,” stated Sonia.

“But Dr. Caldwell said that we can’t tell her what happened in the past. If we tell her about the past, it’ll only trigger

her.”

She carried on, “All we can do is wait for her to regain her memories and become her former self.”

“That’s right. I know that you’re anxious and that you want to help Carol and Kirk.” Gwen was typing now.

“But don’t forget that it will only make Carol suffer if we tell her about the past.

Gwen had witnessed firsthand how Caroline reacted when that had happened.

“Okay,” replied a helpless Cheryl.

Later, the group chat gradually returned to its former tranquility.

Picking up her phone again, Gwen’s finger hovered above Sean’s profile picture.

She hadn’t spoken to him since their fight at the clinic. Even now, she still felt conflicted.

She understood why Kirk had lied to Caroline, but she couldn’t forgive him for doing so.

Caroline was her best friend, after all. The issue here was that Sean had taken part in this too.

It reminded her of her father, and it sent a shiver down her spine. Her parents’ relationship had started falling into

ruin after her father had lied to her mom.

He had told her that he had to work overtime when in truth, he had been having affairs with other women.

Gwen lowered her eyes to look at Sean’s profile picture on the screen. She hesitated, failing to find the

courage to tap their chat.
