Chapter 785
Caroline stared back at Eddy, her pretty eyes sparkling just like the stars at night.
Frowning, Eddy made up his mind and was determined to selfishly keep this beautiful light of hers all to
himself.
“Yes, I did,” he said.
“Do you like it?”
“Did you come up with this idea? You’re so creative! I …’

Caroline lowered her eyes, embarrassed. “I like it very much.”
“Great!” exclaimed Eddy. The uneasiness he had felt earlier vanished completely at the sight of her blushing face.
“Look-” Eddy grabbed her arm. Following his gaze, she looked up to see balloons in the air. There were
words on them.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtShe read aloud the words on the balloons, “Caroline … will… you … marry … me?”
Just then, Eddy got down on one knee, took out a huge diamond ring, and presented it to her.
“Caroline, I know that I’ve made lots of stupid mistakes in the past. I’ve let you down,” he said.
“But I know that I was wrong now. So can you give me another chance and let me make up for them?”
He glanced up at her, his eyes earnest and pleading. Caroline was almost moved by the sincerity in his
eyes.
“Give me a chance. Give us a chance,” he said.
“I’ll take good care of you for the rest of our lives. Please believe in me.”
He inched forward, closing in the distance between them.
Caroline looked down at him. Her heart wavered, and her eyes betrayed what she felt inside.
“Can I really trust you, Eddy?”
There was a voice deep inside her heart calling out to her. Why did it keep on telling her that she couldn’t
trust him?
Still, the look in Eddy’s eyes was so sincere. Looking at him now would make just about anyone believe

“Of course. Of course, you can believe me, Caroline,” he told her.
“I used to be such a jerk, but I’ve changed after everything that I’ve been through. To me, you are the most
important person in the world. I can’t lose you.”
He spoke from the heart. Needless to say, his words were convincing.
Hesitating, Caroline reached out a hand. Eddy seized the chance and took hold of her hand.
She tried pulling back her hand for a while but to no avail. A strange feeling started seeping out from the
bottom of her heart.
When she finally snapped back into reality, she realized that the ring was already on her finger.
“Caroline.” Eddy was smiling at her.
“You’ve made a promise to me now. You can’t go back on your word.”
Staring at the ring, Caroline couldn’t feel the slightest bit of joy in her heart. She pulled her hand from his

“Are you regretting it?” Eddy asked, anxious.
Caroline shook her head. “No. I’ve put on the ring, so I’m agreeing to it.”
She wasn’t sure why, but she wasn’t happy in the least.
It seemed to her that the ring was more like a shackle that weighed her down than a symbol of happiness
and joy.
“That’s great.” Eddy let out a sigh of relief. Apparently, Avery’s plan was actually a good one.
It was just like what she had told him on the phone. No woman could withstand it when the hero saved
the damsel in distress.
“Let’s post about this.”
“Why should we?” asked Caroline./
“I’m afraid that you’ll run away,” Eddy said half-jokingly.
“Why would I?” she asked. She had no plans for the future since she had just lost her memories, so where
else could she go?
