Chapter 532
Caroline laughed at how nervous Kirk looked. “It’s human nature, after all,” she said jokingly.
“We’re adults. It’s only natural that we satisfy our needs.”
A shadow fleeted across Kirk’s face. He lowered his head to bite her lips and said, “Don’t ever
think of doing that again. Understand?”
Caroline hissed in pain. “Are you a dog?” she said, mad at him for biting her lips.
However, his gaze was as piercing as ever as he said, “Promise me, Caroline.”
The serious look on his face startled her. A split second later, she hooked her arms around his
neck.
“Kirk, don’t you know me well enough? You know fairly well whether I would ever have that kind
of thought.”
Despite what she said, Kirk continued staring at her. He seemed so formidable that she thought
she would suffocate.
“Darling!” Kirk exclaimed.

“I was only pulling your leg.”
A hint of a smile finally appeared on Kirk’s stern face. He pecked her cheeks and let go of her cheerily, as if he
were a beast that was content now that it had finally filled its stomach.
“Goodnight,” he told her.
“Good morning‘ would be the right term,” Caroline snapped.
Despite her tone, she finally found herself at peace. It had been quite a few months since she experienced such
blissful serenity.
She turned to look at Kirk, her lips turning up into a smile as she did so.
She didn’t know why, but she found herself moving closer to him and leaning against him. The warmth of his body
soothed her, and she fell asleep gradually.

It was 2:00 pm when she woke up.
“Oh no! I’m late!” Caroline exclaimed after taking a look at the clock.
She sprang up from the bed and hurried to grab her clothes when, suddenly, someone grabbed her
wrist.
Kirk stared at her from under the blankets and said, “Just take a leave.”
“No can do. I’ve asked my staff to make preparations for the Mackey Group case …” Her voice
faltered halfway through her sentence.
She looked up to see Kirk beaming at her. She knew exactly what he was thinking, even though
he said nothing.
Just before she could put a word in, he said, “Darling, it seems to me that I still had a place in your
heart even when we were in a fight back then.”
Caroline wanted to retort, but no words left her mouth. In the end, she flicked her wrist free from
Kirk’s grasp. “Let go of me! I’m going to work!”
Kirk pulled her into a hug and landed kiss after kiss on her neck. Things were about to get spicier when Caroline
realized what he was trying to do and raised her hands to stop him.
“Stop! I really have to go to work.”
Kirk then inched closer to her until the tips of their noses touched. In his raspy and mesmerizing voice, he told her,
“Don’t go.”

“I don’t want Mackey Group. I just want you with me.”
“Nope!” Caroline turned and pushed him against the bed so that he couldn’t move.
After combing her fingers through her hair, she put on a stern expression and ordered, “Your boss
is so unreliable. You should just resign when I take down Mackey Group.”
Kirk stared up at Caroline. “You’re saying that Eddy’s second uncle is an unreliable person, but why do I recall that
you once admired him a lot?”
He couldn’t help but make fun of her after hearing her accuse him of being unreliable.

Embarrassed, Caroline tried to explain herself. “That was way in the past. After going through so much, I realized
that I had been hugely mistaken.
“To put it simply, he’s one of the Morrisons, so he’s no different from any of them.”
With that said, she got off the bed, leaving Kirk stunned.
He stared at her hourglass figure as she left, his mind a jumbled mess.
On one hand, he was dejected at the fact that Caroline no longer admired him. On the other hand, her distaste
toward members of the Morrison family seemed to have increased.
If she discovered that he was one of the Morrisons in the future, things would be even harder to handle.
