He knew Alexis wouldnt probe James. Even if she sensed something, she refused to be the jealous type. More importantly, she didnt love him anymore.
Just the thought of his strained relationship with Alexis made Leonel a little sad.
True to form, Alexis didnt push further. She simply turned away, silent.

But Leonel stayed awake.
Watching Alexis, he dwelled on the evenings events. He didnt know how others would confess to cheating on their spouse. All he felt was guilt and unease, even anger at himself. Though he was drunk and mistook Anika for his wife, he still desired her then The memory made Leonel feel overwhelmingly guilty.
Early in the morning.
When Alexis woke up, Leonel had already gotten up and left the room.
In his place was a delicate little box, placed beside his pillow.
Alexis sat up and opened it.

Did he do something wrong? Was this sudden gift his way of apologizing? Alexis stared at the necklace for a long while before closing the box and putting it on the bedside table.
Getting up, she went to the bathroom and washed up, and then changed her clothes. After putting on light makeup, she headed downstairs.
All the servants in the house had come back, and they were all busy with their own work. Breakfast was ready, served and laid out on the
table. A vase at the center was filled with blue, dewy roses. They were of arare variety and were especially freighted from abroad, all because Alexis liked them.
Leonel was sitting at the head of the table, reading a newspaper with his head down.
Upon hearing the servants greet Alexis, he raised his eyes and said softly, Come and have breakfast. We have to pick up Evelyn and Daniel later.
Alexis walked over and sat down.
