Chapter 370

It didn’t seem like anyone outside heard, nor was there any response.

Wiping away his tears with the back of his hand, Alex said, “I’m not leaving home again, and I’m not going to look

for Dad. But I really miss Mom.”

Aiden felt helpless. Alex’s speech was getting all muddled. He was so upset; there was no way he could discuss an

escape plan.

Then suddenly, the warehouse door swung open, and a man walked in, carrying a bag of bread. He walked over

and tossed the bag of bread on the ground.

“Eat up! You’re hungry, aren’t you? I can’t have you starving to death now!”

Aiden watched him, instinctively protecting Alex. “Got any water? We’re kind of thirsty.”

“What’s with all the demands? Are you here on vacation or something?” The man scoffed. “Rich kids, always such a

pain in the ass!”

With that, he turned and left.

Aiden quickly bent down, shoving the bread into Alex’s hands. “Eat up.”

Alex nodded, but when he opened the bread, he didn’t eat. “Aren’t you eating? Aren’t you hungry?”

“I’m not hungry. You eat.”

Before long, the man returned with two bottles of water. “Drink up!”

As he was leaving, Aiden blurted out, “Can I ask what you’re planning to do with us? If you want money, I need to

call my dad. Otherwise, he won’t know we’ve been kidnapped!”

“Kidnapped?” The man sneered at him. “This isn’t kidnapping. We’re just restricting your freedom!”

Aiden really wanted to argue what that meant.

No food, no water. Was that what they called restricting freedom?

But he knew if he argued, the man might get violent.

So he swallowed his words, putting on an innocent smile. “So when do you plan on letting us go? We don’t really like

our freedom restricted.”

“When we let you go isn’t up to me. Just wait and see! And don’t even think about trying to escape, or you’ll be

punished!”

With that, he slammed the warehouse door shut.

Aiden picked up the water bottle from the ground, retreated to the corner, opened it, and took a sip.

It was the best water he’d ever tasted.

Alex took a couple of big bites of the bread, then handed the rest to Aiden. “Aiden, you should eat some too.

Otherwise, you might not have the strength to run if we get a chance.”

Looking at the bread in his hand, Aiden’s eyes welled up. Alex was still worrying about him.

“I’m not hungry. Really, I’m not. I always used to get so engrossed in my studies that I’d forget to eat. I’m used to it!

But you’re always eating at home. You’ must be really hungry. Eat this.”

Aiden put the bread back, but Alex didn’t eat it. Instead, he hid it.

“We can’t know when he’ll feed us again. I’m saying this. It might save our lives.”

Aiden smiled. “You finally did something that reminds me of Dad. I was starting to wonder if we both were Mom and

Dad’s kids. How could our intelligence gap be so huge?”

Alex pouted. “Why do I feel like you’re mocking me?”
