Chapter 1690
Dr. Tam expressed some regret. “I’m sorry, Miss Sophia. This area of the hospital has been abandoned, and the
surveillance is no longer functional.”
Sophia looked around the cluttered room with some dissatisfaction. Her gaze was still wary and alert.
Dr. Tam thought that Sophia was being overly suspicious. “Miss Sophia, aren’t you eager to see how your husband is
doing?”
Sophia blinked in realization. Yes, she needed to see Theo’s condition first and foremost.
After a final scan of the cluttered room to ensure that everything was normal, Sophia turned around. “Alright, let’s
go.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtFollowing Dr. Tam, they left the cluttered room and proceeded to the special examination room next door.
After they left, silence enveloped the room once more.
A minute later, the door to a wall cabinet on the balcony, which contained firefighting equipment, was pushed open
from the inside, and three people emerged.
Byran and Ida came out, both coughing from the dust that had filled the small space.
The three of them had barely fit inside the cabinet, and the door had nearly failed to close. Luckily, the cabinet was
located against a window on the balcony, so when Sophia peered over to investigate, she hadn’t noticed anything.
They had managed to dodge a bullet.
Suppressing his cough, Byran dusted himself off while glancing back to see who had yanked them into the cabinet.
He was taken aback when he saw his elder brother, Balfour, dusting himself off.
For a moment, Byran thought he might’ve been seeing things due to the dust.
“Balfour? What are you doing here?”
Balfour frowned severely. “You have the nerve to ask me that? I told you to stay upstairs and keep an eye on Dad,
but you’re out here playing Romeo? You never learn.”
As he spoke, Balfour threw an unmistakable glance at Ida.
Byran looked embarrassed. “Balfour, I didn’t come out to play Romeo. My girl and I came because we heard that
Sophia was up to something again.”
He referred to Ida as ‘my girl’ so naturally that Ida shot him a glare.
Balfour squinted slightly. “Where did you hear that Sophia was here?”
“I got it from Ida.” Byran said truthfully. “She spotted Sophia, and she thinks our sister might be here too. We tried

Balfour had his phone on silent and had missed the calls.
As for Ellinor, she was too preoccupied to answer her phone.
Byran asked, “Balfour, you still haven’t said why you’re here. Weren’t you supposed to take our sister home? Where
is she?”
Balfour’s gaze drifted towards the balcony next door. “She’s with Theo.”
Byran and Ida exchanged surprised glances before blurting out in unison.
“What are they doing together?”
“What are they doing together?”
Balfour’s face was a mask of complex emotions that he didn’t voice. Instead, he sighed. “It’s a long story. If there
are no unexpected problems, they’re about to be discovered by Sophia.”
