Cody knew something was up, and sure enough, the very next day, the Adams Group got hit hard. Clients were complaining and pulling their money out left and right, and it was a massive blow to the company. Cody was super worried, and the whole Adams family was freaking out. The company's investors were upset too, thinking Cody must have made sbig mistake. Right in the middle of all that chaos, Cody found out that someone was buying up all of the Adams Group's stock.
The Adams family finally got how serious things were, and Cody realized he had only one move left.

Charles gave Ronald a quick, sharp look, and Ronald snapped to attention. "Mr. Hoffman, we've bought up a bunch of the Adams Group's stock. We're pretty much the second-biggest shareholder now, so we can totally stand up to Cody's side. It's just that..." Ronald was confused. Charles usually squashes his competition, not giving them any room to breathe. However, he seemed to be playing nicely right now. Charles flashed a sly grin. "Are you wondering why I let him off the hook?" Ronald nodded. "It's not like you to be so lenient!" "Cody's got talent. I wouldn't want the Adams Group to collapse. That's not what I'm after," Charles said, then turned and walked away.
Ronald pulled a face, thinking, 'You've backed them into a corner with no way out. Isn't that as good as being beaten?' However, Ronald kept his thoughts to himself, not daring to voice them to Charles, and quickly followed after him.
Cody had been waiting in the reception room for ages. While he waited, his phone buzzed constantly with news that the Adams Group's stocks were plummeting even faster than the day before. Truth be told, turning to Charles was a desperate move, but it was the only option he had left.
The Adams Group was no match for the Colossus Group-it was like a tiny lizard trying to knock over a giant rock. Cody might not have many tricks up his sleeve, but he was sharp enough to know when he was outmatched. With that in mind, he decided to approach Charles.
This mess was all Annie's doing, but Cody had no clue about the connection between Noelle and Charles. He just sensed that with all the noise Charles was making, there was more to the story than Annie had let on. "Mr. Hoffman!" Cody called out.
When Charles walked in and pushed the door open, Cody quickly got to his feet. However, Charles just waved him back down and asked Becky to make scoffee. "Mr. Adams, did you cto see me?" Cody looked at Charles and then at Ronald, and it clicked. The man who had handed Annie over to him was right there. He realized Annie must have really upset Charles, and he felt a bit less confident. "Mr. Hoffman, I'm here today to ask for your Kindness. I'm not sure what my sister did to upset you." Charles gave a small, knowing smile and looked at Cody. "It seems your sister hasn't told you everything, Mr. Adams!" Charles held the cup with his elegant fingers. He was so calm and collected, especially next to Cody, who was being extra careful.

Charles played with the cup in his hand and took a leisurely sip before he asked "Is your sister friends with the Shaw family's daughter?"
Cody's head shot up. "My sister has vel.
lots of friends, and I don't really get involved in that, so..." He watched Charles's face, trying to figure out what to say. However, Charles raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. Cody frowned a little. "Well, yes, I've heard her talk about Ms. Winter Shaw, but it's usually girly conversation, so I don't really get involved in her friendships." X
