Chapter 1237
During that time, Rosalie and Jonathan hadn’t yet left the hospital. When Rosalie rushed to
the emergency room upon hearing the news, she found Warren sitting there, with a doctor
stitching up his wound on the spot. Amelia was lying on the hospital bed beside him,
receiving treatment from the doctor.
Normally, their treatments were meant to occur in separate wards, but Warren and Amelia
shared the same room. Even though one side of Warren’s cheek was covered in blood, his
focus remained fixed on Amelia, as if his own injuries didn’t concern him, and he was
solely worried about her safety.
“The reporters you described yesterday, those who stopped you, it turns out they weren’t
real reporters; they were impostors. Though their true motives are unclear, it’s possible
they have some connection to the Summer family,” Rosalie said.
“Whoever those people are associated with, I will track them down,” Warren declared.
Despite his unfamiliarity with Lommore, finding those individuals wouldn’t pose a
challenge for him. “What about Amelia? How is she?”
“She’s awake and has agreed to return to Strico for the remainder of her pregnancy,”
Rosalie replied.
Warren chuckled at her words. “Just as I thought, the only ones she wou listen to are her
friends like you.”
But Warren couldn’t help but mutter to himself, “As for the things I said, she probably
doesn’t care at all.”
Rosalie then added, “But when she woke up and saw me just now, her first question was
about your condition. Amelia cares more about you than you might imagine; even her
concern for you goes beyond your expectations.”
Warren’s eyelashes quivered ever so subtly. Then, after a brief pause, he lifted his eyes to
Rosalie, a trace of mockery in his gaze. “Why are you telling me all this? Are you hoping I’ll

she might need a liver transplant after giving birth?”
Rosalie’s expression stiffened. She had seen the medical reports prepared

by the doctor for Amelia, and she knew Warren must have seen them
too.
Their only unspoken agreement was to keep the doctor from informing the patient about
the need for another liver transplant as indicated in the
report.
While a liver transplant was necessary, Amelia’s unique blood type made finding a
suitable donor extremely challenging. Warren happened to be the most compatible
candidate, but having already undergone one liver transplant, donating again would entail
heightened risks to his own life. Furthermore, considering Warren’s current sentiments
towards Amelia, Rosalie harbored doubts about her ability to persuade him to become a
liver donor.
“Whether you decide to donate your liver or not is entirely up to you. I just want you to
know that Amelia does have feelings for you. She’s willing to risk her life to give birth to
your child because of the affection she has for you. Otherwise, why would a woman be
willing to stake her life on a man she doesn’t love?”
However, Warren directed his words at Rosalie, saying, “Whether she loves me or not, I
simply don’t care. As for donating my liver to save her, why should I put my life in danger
to rescue a woman who once hurt me so deeply? If we’re talking about any debts I owed
her from the past, I believe donating my liver, turning over her case, and saving her life
from the kidnappers should have already settled them.”
After a brief pause, he fixed Rosalie with a cold stare. “I, Warren York, owe Amelia Haab
nothing. So, there’s no need for further words. I’m tired and in need of rest. Please, leave.”
With those words, Warren closed his eyes.
A look of concern crossed Rosalie’s face as she thought, “If Amelia ever reaches the point
of needing a liver transplant, and if Warren refuses to be a donor, then Amelia… might not
make it.”
Exiting the hospital, Rosalie coincidentally spotted Jonathan’s car.
Jonathan stepped out and quickly approached her. “What’s happening? You look so down
as if the sky’s about to fall.”
Rosalie sniffled. “The hospital’s medical reports are not looking good. Because of her
pregnancy, Amelia’s liver function is deteriorating rapidly. It’s possible she’ll need a liver
transplant when she gives birth, but…”

“The issue lies with the liver source, doesn’t it? Warren isn’t willing?” Jonathan asked.
Rosalie nodded. “But honestly, it’s understandable. He’s not as emotionally connected to
Amelia as he used to be, and he’s already donated his liver once before. Donating again is
too risky.”
In her thoughts, Rosalie pondered, “It’s almost like a life-or-death gamble. In this world,
how many people would be willing to risk their lives for someone else?”
“Then let’s return to Strico and come up with a plan. Things might not turn out as dire as
you fear,” Jonathan suggested.
“But if it does come to that point, and Amelia doesn’t have a suitable liver…”.
“She must have thought about this possibility a long time ago,” Jonathan said earnestly.
“Everyone must shoulder the responsibility of their decisions, and since Amelia has
chosen to keep this child, she must have already contemplated the worst-case scenario.”
Rosalie was momentarily startled, her attention solely on Jonathan’s words as he

worthwhile.”
Rosalie took a deep breath and thought, “Worthwhile? Is it truly worth it for Amelia?”
But then, memories of her own pregnancy with triplets flooded back. A the time, she, too,
had believed it was worth the risk, ready to stake her life on the survival of her three
babies.
Perhaps this was the essence of motherhood, the reluctance to release the lives growing
within, regardless of the circumstances.
“Back then, when I narrowly escaped, and all three children survived, it truly was a stroke
of luck,” Rosalie murmured.
“Yeah, it was luck, both yours and mine.” Jonathan held Rosalie as he continued, “From
now on, I’ll protect you, dedicating my lifetime to your safety.”
Rosalie smiled faintly, but all of a sudden, her expression changed. She covered her
mouth, and her shoulder quivered slightly, as if she might
vomit but didn’t.

“What’s wrong? Feeling unwell?” Jonathan asked.
“I’m feeling a bit nauseous, perhaps I overindulged in donuts this morning, causing some
indigestion,” she replied.
Jonathan sighed with a hint of helplessness upon hearing her words, “Didn’t I tell you to
eat less of it? Eating too much of that stuff can lead to bloating.”
“It’s probably because it’s been quite some time since I last had it. So, having it once in a
while makes it taste exceptionally good, and I couldn’t stop myself,” Rosalie explained.
“Weren’t you not much of a fan of these overly sweet and cloying foods before?” Jonathan
asked.
