Chapter 1183

She slapped him in the face, interrupting him.

“That’s enough, Warren. If you really loved me before, stop right there!” A mist clouded over her dark

eyes, and her voice was stifled with sobs.

He was stunned. There seemed to be an unmovable weight lodged in his throat.

Ultimately, he did not finish the sentence. Instead, he warned, “If you don’t want him to lose his

reputation, you’d better stay away from him.”

“I told you, Warren. Leave Lucas out of this,” Amelia pleaded. She did not want Lucas to be implicated.

However, it led him to the mistaken conclusion that it was because she

cared about Lucas.

“What if I insist on getting him involved? By the way, I remember you were very close to Lucas when I

found you. Did you want to be with him. at the time? He’s now divorced from his wife. What about you?

You always say you will divorce me after the baby is born. Is it because you want to be with him?”

Warren said coldly.

“You misunderstand me, Mr. York. Amelia and I…” Lucas wanted to explain but he did not realize that

anything he said at that moment would only have the opposite effect.

“Misunderstand? Is this a misunderstanding?” Warren’s gaze fell on Lucas’ hand holding Amelia’s.

Then, he snatched Lucas’ hand away from her.

The sudden movement caused Lucas to stagger several steps back.

Seeing this, Amelia was so anxious that she instinctively decided to check if Lucas was hurt. The

moment she took a step in his direction, however, she found herself suddenly yanked back by Warren.

“Are you so concerned that you can’t wait to run over him?” Warren sneered.

Amelia struggled to get rid of his grip. “Let go of me, Warren!”

Nothing she said made the slightest difference; his hand remained firmly around her arm. “Let me tell

you something, Amelia. Even if we are

divorced, it doesn’t mean you can be with Lucas!”

“What the hell do you want, Warren?” Amelia cried angrily. “Since we’ve agreed that I won’t ever show

my face around you, why does matter who I am with?”

“That’s right. Why does it matter?” he thought. Her question struck him like a thunderbolt, yet he could

not stand the thought of her being with another man.

“She could only…”

A voice in his heart seemed to be calling out with yearning. Though his rational mind was desperately

trying to suppress the urge, it could not be stopped.

“She could only be with me!” shouted the voice.

Upon noticing that Warren was momentarily distracted, Amelia quickly broke free from his grip and ran

to Lucas. “Are you all right, Lucas?” she asked anxiously.

“I… I’m fine, but seeing how things between you and Mr. York are, I should explain…” Lucas said

apologetically.

However, Amelia knew that no explanation was going to work on Warren in his present state.

Furthermore, the train they were going to board was about to arrive.

“Let’s go back to Strico, Lucas,” Amelia said. She wanted nothing more than to leave now and not

Lucas get involved.

“But…” Lucas was still hesitant. Suddenly, Warren’s voice interrupted the conversation between them.

“None of you are leaving today without my permission!” Then, Warren turned to Frederick. “Call the

police. My wife is at a railway station with a strange man. Have them handle this civil dispute.”

“At once,” Frederick answered.

Amelia panicked. “Stop being unreasonable, Warren! Take your anger out on me if you really hate me

so much, but don’t do this to Lucas. He is a good man who doesn’t deserve to get involved for my

sake!”:

“Good man?” Warren walked to Amelia and grabbed her by the chin. “So, I’m the bad guy? That is why

you never considered me. No matter how I

pleaded, you would never give me a chance.”

“I…” She was about to explain when suddenly, her brows furrowed and she groaned in pain.

“It hurts!” she thought in anguish. “My belly… It hurts!”

Amelia clutched her stomach with one hand and felt a series of sudden, violent lurches in her belly.

Every movement throbbed with pain.

Compared with the pain, however, she was more afraid of the ominous sign that the child was ready.

It was only a momentary flash, but Amelia’s forehead and palms were already slick with sweat.

Her face, too, was as pale as paper.
