Chapter 471
“Mr. York!” Aiden exclaimed with surprise.
Warren stepped forward and ruffled Aiden’s head.
Matilda came over after hearing the commotion. Her face turned pale when she saw Warren. She wanted to rush
forward to pull Aiden back, but her body involuntary trembled when Warren gave her a casual glance.
After all, Warren had brought too much harm to the Haab family.
Back when Amelia was detained, she had pleaded with him not to testify against Amelia, but it didn’t work out. He
had just coldly looked at her and said, “This is what the Haab family owes the York family, and what she owes Irene!
Just letting her sit in prison for a few years is too cheap for her.”
Amelia sensed Matilda’s fear, so she quickly stepped forward and held Matilda’s hand tightly.
Only then did Matilda calm down a little.
“Warren, if you have something to say, let’s go outside to talk!” Amelia said.
But Warren casually waved her off. “I didn’t come here for you today.” Then, he crouched down and looked straight
at Aiden. “Your last name is York, not Haab.”
As she heard that, Amelia’s body stiffened, and she immediately understood what he had come here for!-
No, she couldn’t let him continue.
If Aiden found out now…
She wanted to rush forward to take off Aiden’s hearing aid and prevent him from hearing what Warren would say
next.
But it was too late. Warren’s voice continued to echo in the small room, “Aiden, I am your father.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“No, you’re not!” Amelia rushed to Aiden’s side and glared at Warren.
If it weren’t for Warren’s hand firmly resting on Aiden’s shoulder; Amelia might have already pulled him behind her.
“What’s wrong? Do you want me to throw the DNA report right in front of you before you admit it?” Warren said
coldly.
Amelia’s body swayed slightly.
Aiden looked at Warren in confusion and turned to look at Amelia. “Mommy, isn’t Daddy in heaven? Why is Mr. York
saying he’s my Daddy?”
Amelia’s mouth was filled with bitterness. She couldn’t help but wonder what should she do, and how could she tell
Aiden that his father had never anticipated his existence.
He had even come close to not being born because of a single statement from Warren.
“From now on, I’ll take you back to the York family and let you acknowledge your roots,” Warren said. “You won’t
have to live in a small room like this, and you can have any toys you want. In the future, no one will mock you for
anything!”
Warren could imagine the kind of ridicule a child with a hearing impairment might face.
Aiden was Warren’s son, and even if he had a disability, Warren wouldn’t tolerate anyone mocking Aiden.
Aiden’s eyes brightened hearing that. Although he didn’t fully understand some of the words, he grasped the
meaning.
“Are you really my Daddy?” Aiden asked.
“Yes,” Warren replied unwaveringly.
“Does that mean Daddy will live with Mommy, Granny Matilda, and me from now on?” Aiden’s innocent voice
continued to inquire, filled with longing.
He had seen in cartoons that families lived together.
Warren fixed his gaze on Aiden and was about to answer when Amelia said, “All right, Aiden, Daddy… has
something to attend to and needs to leave. Let’s say goodbye to him.”
It was difficult for Amelia to utter the word “Daddy.”
“Daddy won’t live with us today?” There was, a hint of disappointment in Aiden’s voice.
“This place is so small, and if he stays here, it will be too cramped Amelia said while looking at Warren with an
almost pleading expression.
Amelia hoped that Warren wouldn’t say anything inore and shatter Aiden’s simple world.
Warren furrowed his brow. The words he had intended to say seemed to get stuck in his throat. He couldn’t utter
them under her gaze.
Warren then thought to himself, ‘Are you kidding me? Why should I care about Amelia’s gaze?
I’ve never owed her anything; it it Amelia who owes me!’
Nevertheless, Warren ultimately remained silent.
Amelia quickly added, “Aiden, come on, say goodbye to Daddy. It’s very late, and you should get ready for bed.”
Aiden obediently waved to Warren, then expressed once more his hope that Warren and Amelia could live together.
Amelia could only feel a profound sense of bitterness.
When Matilda took Aiden to the bathroom to wash up, Amelia looked at Warren and said, “Warren, no matter
what’s between us, I hope at least in front of Aiden, you won’t say things that will make him sad, upset, or
disillusioned.”

“Aiden means nothing to you, does he? Why did you come here to disrupt our peace?” Amelia said, her voice filled
with resentment. “You said you want revenge? Fine, I’ll give you revenge. Three and a half years in prison wasn’t
enough, the stab to the abdomen wasn’t enough. So, tell me, what would be enough? Should it be losing a hand or
a foot?”
She was willing to pay any price as long as she could protect-Aiden.
Warren’s face gradually turned ashen.
“Amelia, why do you think losing a hand or a foot is enough for you?” Warren spat out in a chilling tone. “I won’t let
Aiden continue to stay with you. I’ve said it before, I will ensure you have no right to even see him in the future.”
With that, he turned to leave.
“Warren!” Amelia called out his name and grabbed his arm tightly. “Do you have to do this? Do you have to take
Aiden away
from me?”

He gave her a fleeting glance at her hand gripping his arm, then raised his own hand, slowly pulling her fingers
away from his arm. “Since you dared to give birth to my child back then, you should be prepared for this! I may not
harm you while you’re in Strico, but that doesn’t mean I’ll let Aiden stay with you!”
Looking at her empty hands, despair crept back onto Amelia’s face again. After enduring so much hardship, was
she still
unable to secure what she wanted?
She had lost love and freedom in the past. Now, did she have to lose her child as well?
All she wanted was to raise her child and watch him grow up. Why was something so simple so difficult for her?
