Chapter 528 Why Would Cayden Turn Himself In
The setting sun looked like a raging inferno that set the surface of the lake ablaze, providing a fantasy-like backdrop
to the mansions beside it.
As Avery sat by the man-made lake with her chin in her hand, she gave the fish swimming inside it a bored stare.
By her side, the nurse was keeping watching without saying a word.
All of a sudden, the sound of familiar footsteps broke the silence.
Avery was greeted by the sight of Cayden's towering figure with the sun behind his back. As a delighted smile
widened across her face, she asked curiously, “What brings you here so early today?”
She was well aware of how busy Cayden had been recently. It had become a norm for him to come back in the
middle of the night. Sometimes, he would reek of alcohol after entertaining business associates, an unsettling
situation that she was helpless about.
At the sight of Cayden, the nurse gave him a polite nod before tactfully giving the pair of lovers some privacy.
Cayden walked up to the rattan chair Avery was sitting on and joined her there.
He enjoyed hugging her in his arms, an act of intimacy that gave him pleasure.
The moment he laid her hands on her tender skin, he would no longer be able to stop himself from caressing her.
“I saw the news today. I didn't expect Nicole to kill herself over what happened. Did we make a mistake?” Avery
looked up at Cayden with a glint of remorse in her eyes.
With one hand reaching out to hold Avery, Cayden stroked her hair with the other. He let out a sigh with a frown on
his face. “She did this to herself and can't blame anyone else for it. Despite knowing that I'm not interested in her at

With her hands around his neck, Avery shared her concerns with Cayden. “I'm afraid the Moore family and the
Lambert family will become mortal enemies after the cancellation of the marriage. Now that public opinion is
against you, it will put Trident Group at a great disadvantage. Also, considering how much Mr. William and his wife
love Nicole, they will definitely not take this slight lying down. I'm worried they will exact revenge against Trident
Group from behind the scenes. Also, let's not forget about the disk that contains evidence against you. Nicole might
act hastily by handing it over to the media in a fit of rage.”
Ever since ancient times, the poor knew not to challenge the rich, while the rich knew not to challenge authority.
The reason was simple. Ordinary folk were powerless against government officials who wielded tremendous power
and resources.
Even though Cayden was the head of Trident Group and possessed wealth that rivaled nations, he was still nothing
more than a businessman who was at a natural disadvantage when it came to a contest of influence.
Regardless of how successful he was, he would lose everything once he was indicted for a crime.
“Given how much Nicole loves herself, do you actually believe she would take her own life? This is nothing but a
charade of hers. As for the disk, I have everything under control, so there's nothing to worry about. Even if she
exposes it, I already have a countermeasure in place. We'll only see a slide in the company's share price under the
worst-case scenario. Even then, I expect it to only be temporary. The losses won't be much, and I'll definitely
recover them with time. Ery, I'm not afraid of anything other than the fact that you have to suffer on my account.
In the near future, I'll make our relationship official so that you can hold your head up high by my side. Never again
will you have to suffer any humiliation.”
Cayden's deep voice rang out melodiously in her ears. The stirring emotions in his heart were clearly
communicated through the look in his eyes.
When Avery locked gazes with him, all she could see was a bottomless abyss.
Every time both of them looked into each other's eyes, a raging inferno of passion would be instantly ignited.
“I'm fine, really. I don't need to be officially recognized to be happy by your side. Loving someone means accepting
every part of them. We have to learn how to understand, accommodate, and trust each other. After all, my loving
you need no reason at all.” Right beside Cayden, Avery smiled through her sparkling eyes, making for a gorgeous
sight.
After leaning in to kiss her, Cayden covered her dainty hands with his palms.
His hands were well-defined, while hers were soft and slender.
In contrast to the warmth emitted by the tip of his fingers, hers was slightly cold.
The opposing nature of their hands made a perfect match for each other.
Just like the love they shared, it was an amalgamation of heat and cold. Regardless of the circumstances, they
would never abandon each other. Any obstacles thrown into their path would never keep them apart for long.
Meanwhile, inside the public prosecutor's office, two public prosecutors were sitting in front of a conference table.
One was a man around thirty who had a stern look on his face, while the other was a woman in her late twenties.
Although she wasn't considered beautiful, the charm she exuded was different from anyone else.
Wearing an unbridled smile, Sid sat opposite them with his legs crossed. He would give the female public prosecutor
a flirtatious look intermittently, annoying the male prosecutor to no end.
The female public prosecutor had hardly seen such a handsome and elegant gentleman before. Sid emitted a

If not for her inherently strong mental fortitude, she would have already fallen helplessly for his charms.
All she could do now was cuss Sid in her mind for distracting her.
“Kayden, is everything you told us true? If it turns out that you're lying just to take the fall for another person, you'll
be charged with an additional crime,” the male public prosecutor threatened, confounded by what was going on.
Just as the disk that contained evidence of Cayden bribing Marvin surfaced, another man with a similar name—
Kayden Moore—had turned himself in to the authorities, confessing that he was the man in the video. All this
happened before the contents of the disk were exposed by the media.
The fact that both men had such similar names was simply unbelievable.
Nevertheless, the man could clearly recall all his interactions with Marvin in detail, from the dialogue they shared to
the land Marvin had approved for him. The information Kayden provided was perfectly consistent with what the
authorities knew.
In fact, the flawless confession was the source of the public prosecutor's suspicion, for it was too much of a
coincidence.
Right then, the older public prosecutor finally returned with his subordinates, looking miserable.
The fat one among them had his wrist broken.
Not only did they fail to return with the suspect, Cayden, but they were also humiliated by the latter's arrogance.
However, little did they expect to find Cayden being interrogated by their superiors in the conference room upon
their return.
Their eyes widened as if they had seen a ghost. Why would the difficult Cayden turn himself in?
