Chapter 273
To avoid encountering Edmund, Larissa spent most of the following days wandering around the guest
rooms downstairs. Whenever she spotted a housekeeping staff member cleaning a room, she would
enter to conduct a “surprise inspection.”
She understood that developing habits took time, and despite the housekeeping staff’s efforts, there
were still some minor shortcomings. For less serious issues, she corrected them and let them go. But
for more severe problems, she made a note and imposed fines. Those who disobeyed her
management and were dissatisfied with the penalties were simply fired.
In just a week’s time, she earned the nickname “Devil” among her colleagues. However, instead of
feeling offended, she felt somewhat
satisfied-after all, everyone was afraid of her and conscientiously carried out their work.
The only burden she felt was during the weekly department meeting when Edmund specifically praised
her and made a joke about her

her and be strict with their
subordinates, she still heard a few ambiguous chuckles.
After the meeting, she overheard the head and deputy managers of the F&B Department discussing
the incident.
“What’s there to be proud of about being called the ‘Devil’? Doesn’t that just prove that she’s not well-
liked?”
“Well, Mr. Rogers was just finding an excuse to publicly praise her. Don’t take it too seriously!” another
replied.
“True I even saw him having lunch alone with her last time. They came out of the private dining room
together.”
…
Larissa never expected her rumored relationship with Edmund to spread so quickly within the hotel.
She couldn’t possibly explain to each and every person, nor could she follow in the footsteps of some
celebrities and issue a formal statement. Such actions would only make others think she was trying to
hide something. Luckily, she only had one more week left here, and whatever others said would no
longer concern her.
However, what she hadn’t anticipated was that Edmund had applied to transfer her from Covenford. He
never asked for her opinion nor informed her when he submitted the application. She only found out
because the general manager of Covenford’s Regal Dynasty Hotel called her to question, “You’ve only
been there for a few days, and now you don’t even want to come back?”
Larissa was completely puzzled. She asked, “When did I say I didn’t want to go back to Covenford?”
“Still pretending!” The general manager grew more infuriated. “Headquarters sent me an email saying
they want to transfer you to Bartham!
Larissa was taken aback and quickly denied, “I have no knowledge of this.” Her reaction was too
genuine, and the general manager, having worked with her for many years, naturally knew she wasn’t
lying.
“I’ll forward you the email. Take a look for yourself.”

Indeed, it was an email from headquarters to the general manager, notifying him of the personnel
change. She refreshed her inbox multiple times and even checked the spam folder, but she couldn’t
find any email directly sent to her regarding the transfer. So, she went to see Edmund, as it could only
be his idea to transfer her.
He admitted candidly, “Yes, I was the one who requested for you to be transferred here.”
Larissa was angry, but she managed to restrain herself from banging the table and confronting him.
“Why didn’t you discuss it with me?” she questioned.
“Because I wasn’t sure if headquarters would approve, so I submitted the application first.” He came up
with a grand excuse. “I planned to wait for their approval and then ask for your opinion so that If you
agreed, it wouldn’t be rejected.”
She managed to grasp the key point from his explanation. “So, you’re saying that I still have a chance
to refuse now, right?”
However, he looked apologetic. “That should have been the case if everything went according to my
plan. But it seems like headquarters misunderstood my intention and directly processed the personnel
transfer … Now you’re already an employee of Bartham’s Regal Dynasty Hotel, and your position
remains as the manager of the housekeeping department.”
