Chapter 169

Emma thought that if she expressed disdain at Trevor and pushed him away, he would immediately let

go of her.

On the contrary, he stretched out his long arm and pulled her into his embrace.

Not only that, while he held her, he whispered in her ear, "I miss you."

"Actually, I'm here to see you." He was only making up excuses when he said he had visited her for the

cat. He had no feelings for the cat, so why would he go just for it?

Trevor had endured the entire night, so he thought that if he didn't see Emma today, he would be in the

dumps the whole day.

She had blocked off all contact with him, so he could only go to her house and wait.

Emma felt goosebumps all over her as she heard Trevor's words. She had never thought that Trevor

would say something so sentimental. In fact, she had never even dreamed about him sweet talking to

her, as she was certain that Trevor would never say such things to her all his life.

Therefore, her first reaction was to struggle out of his embrace and press her palm against his

forehead. "You're not down with a fever too, are you?"

Angered by her words, Trevor looked away and avoided her touch. He sincerely told her that he missed

her, but now she suspected that he was ill.

Trevor vented all his fury on Wesley as he said in disdain, "My body isn't as weak as Wesley's. How

could a properly healthy man catch a fever?"

Emma also thought him unreasonable. She lifted her arms and pushed him away, putting some

distance between them before saying, "Don't you always get hospitalized for stomach problems too?"

If she remembered correctly, he was just hospitalized not long ago.

Trevor was unusually adept at altering the subject as he twisted Emma's words. "You're so concerned

about my health that you remember I have a weak stomach?"

"Not really." Emma didn't even hesitate before denying his overthinking, after which she explained in all

seriousness, "I only feel that you shouldn't joke about other people when you yourself are sickly.

President Zurich has been working hard recently, so it's understandable that he's not in the best of

health." Emma kept speaking up for Wesley, and Trevor could feel that his stomach was in pain again.

Zurich! Zurich! It’s always about him. He sat on her couch and lifted his hand to cover his stomach as

he said, "You made me so mad that my stomach is hurting."

"Hah." Emma simply sneered in response.

Did I make him mad? If he hadn't come to me, then he wouldn't have been mad at all! Also, with a body

like that, doesn't he feel embarrassed when he laughs at Wesley?

Emma stood where she was, expressionless as she said, "I think you should hurry to the hospital."

With that, she took out her own phone. "Should I call up Kaleb for you, or should I just call 911?"

Trevor took a deep breath. "I haven't had breakfast, so maybe some breakfast will do me good." Never

in a million years would he imagine himself being so stubborn just to win a woman over.

He used to be so high and mighty as he ordered Emma around, but now he was equally humble and

shameless.

"Then please go downstairs. After you get out, turn left, and you'll see a bakery with delicious bread

and pastries. It will definitely solve your stomach problem." Emma knew what Trevor was getting at by

staying there. He wanted her to make something for him to eat again.

In his dreams!

She was no longer the silly girl who cared about his health with her entire being. She was no longer the

Emma who placed him on a pedestal.

However, she once again underestimated Trevor's persistence. Unmoved, he continued, "I gave you

Minnie, but you haven't expressed thanks by treating me to a meal yet."

Emma was pissed beyond measure as she glared at the man on the couch, gritting her teeth. She said

viciously, "One meal, and we're even. I don't owe you anything for Minnie anymore."

A gleeful grin tinted Trevor's eyes as he agreed happily, "Sure."

It didn't matter because he could still come up with more opportunities for her to keep owing him favors.

Before Emma went into the kitchen, Trevor added greedily, "Don't forget to make me a mug of coffee."

Coffee? Emma sneered, then turned and walked into the kitchen.

She retrieved the toast slices she saved up from the fridge, then began to skilfully make breakfast. She

looked like an emotionless cooking robot.

Not long after, a mug of coffee and a delicious-looking sandwich were served in front of Trevor.

Trevor immediately felt at ease, and his mood was even sunnier than the morning sun outside.

This was the feeling he was looking for. Commonplace and normal, but adorned with tiny specks of

warmth and happiness.

He wasn't used to it at all when they divorced.

He thought that he only missed her cooking, so he frequented high-class restaurants for breakfast and

ordered all sorts of luxurious food, but the hole in his heart could not be filled.

It was only now that he realized that the thing he actually missed was the person who made breakfast

for him.

Because she was the one who made it, and because she was the one he spent time with, he was

satisfied and happy, even if it were the simple meal she made last time.

"Thank you." Trevor had a complicated expression on his face as he spoke to Emma.

On the other hand, Emma was emotionless. "No need for thanks. Just keep your word."

With this meal, she didn't owe him for the cat anymore, so she hoped that he wouldn't ask her to make

his meals ever again.

Emma also thought about it, and if worse came to worst, she'd just charge for the meals. She'd charge

an exorbitant amount so that no matter how rich Trevor was, he'd regret it and never ask her for meals

again.

"Why does the coffee taste different today?" Trevor didn't dare say that it tasted horrible.

It wasn't that bad either, but it lacked some richness and aroma compared to the coffee he used to

have.

Emma was honest about it. "I didn't put any effort into it, so of course, it doesn't taste good."

Trevor was speechless.

He shouldn't have asked if he knew he was going to get an answer like this.

"Close the door when you're done. I'm going to work." With that, Emma walked into her study and

locked the door while she was at it.

She really didn't put any effort into the coffee she made for Trevor today.

She didn't pay attention to many details, so of course, the coffee would taste different. She did this to

Trevor simply because she no longer held him in high regard.

Even though the coffee tasted different, Emma was still the person who brewed it, so it didn't affect

Trevor's mood that much. He still elegantly finished his breakfast.

He was about to leave right after finishing the food, but he thought for a while, then took the plate and

cutlery into the kitchen. Then, he turned on the tap and began washing the dishes.

Wesley was so good at cooking; he must show his skills too.

However, he wasn't considering making meals for the moment because it was too difficult. He would

start from the basics: washing the dishes.

He had never done anything like this in his life, so when he washed the dishes, his hand slipped, and

the coffee mug crashed onto the ground, shattering into tiny pieces.

Emma turned on the computer and had barely typed in a few words when she heard the noise coming

from the kitchen. She hastily rushed out to see Trevor frowning at the broken mug on the floor.

Emma looked at the pieces on the floor, and her heart also shattered in an instant.

The mug Trevor had broken was the one she bought while she was shopping abroad, and she had

brought it all the way back home.

Emma was close to tears. She had this hobby of collecting trinkets and stuff like that, and every single

piece was dear to her.
