His Ex wife is a billionaire Chapter 679
Chapter 679
It was the perfect time for dinner, and neither couple had eaten yet. To celebrate Arnold and her mentee’s blossoming romance, they decided to hit up the best local joint in Skyrim for a hearty meal.
On the ride over, Thaddeus, at the wheel, with Evadne riding shotgun, left ample space in the backseat for Arnold and his lady to get all lovey–dovey.
The lovebirds were in their honeymoon phase, all sweet and syrupy, which was understandable. Thaddeus and Evadne didn’t dare peek in the rearview mirror, but the occasional “thwack” resonated throughout the car.
“Ouch…Camille, could you go a little easy on me? That’s quite the smack, and I’m your man, after all,” Arnold complained, rubbing the back of his hand with an air of injured innocence, completely oblivious to the presence of others.
A real display of affection!
“Should’ve kept your paws to yourself, always so restless, Camille’s cheeks were afiame with a mix of embarrassment and warmth from being snugly wrapped in
her man’s embrace, her soft body pressing against his chest – a temptation too sweet to resist.
“And for the record, it’s boyfriend, not husband.”
“Is there really a difference? I mean, you think your future husband could be anyone else?” Arnold huskily whispered into her ear, giving her waist a teasing pinch.
“We’ll see about that. If you don’t shape up, it could be someone else,” Camille replied with a lifted chin and a playful huff.
“Camille, you wouldn’t dare.”
Arnold leaned in and kissed her deeply, his tongue prying past her lips, enveloping her in his embrace.
Camille’s surprise turned into a blush of embarrassment; she intended to push him away, but the way how he landed his passionate kiss, how his long eyelashes fiuttered when the eyes closed, made her heart pounding. Her delicate fingers trembled as they found their way around his tie.

“You’re not allowed to think about anyone else. You are mine,” Arnold breathed into her ear.
Even in jest, he couldn’t bear the thought, his eyes blazing with possessiveness. He envied Thaddeus and Evadne’s easy displays of affection, Cassius and Dr. Bright’s love expression through frequently eyes contact, longing for that same intimacy.
He dreamed of Camille’s face, and in the heat of passion, those dreams often turned quite steamy. Now that he had her heart, the taste of love was intoxicating. He wanted to claim her, addicted to her presence, unable to bear a moment apart.
While Arnold and his girl were locked in a passionate embrace, Thaddeus and Evadne up front were in their own kind of misery, not daring to turn around, speak out a word, or even breathe too loud.
By the time they parked in the restaurant’s underground lot and got out of the car, Thaddeus was sweating bullets, letting out a long sigh of relief.
“Sweating up a storm, huh?” Evadne chuckled, pulling out a tissue from her purse to dab at his forehead, “I told you, Arnold looks all respectable, but he’s got a wild side. A rightful officer during the day, a real beast by nightfall.”
“Evadne, now I’m sure that you two are truly blood–related. Only real siblings could be so bold.”
Thaddeus grasped her delicate hand, pressing it to his chest, “But I get where Arnold’s coming from. When you decided to take me back, I was over the moon, couldn’t contain myself, every moment of every day always wanting to.”
“Shh, enough.”
Evadne tiptoed to plant a peck on his lips quickly, “I get what you mean. Thinking of revving up for more?”
“Let’s save it,” Thaddeus‘ eyes squinted slightly, returning the kiss, “for home.”
In the private dining room, a feast was laid out before them.
Arnold, a true foodie at heart, dove into the meal with gusto since people around were all those close to him, so engrossed that he wouldn’t notice if the world ended.
Camille, giggling at his enthusiasm, kept serving him dish after dish as if caring for a child.
“Arnold, you might as well marry a rice cooker with how you’re eating. Camille barely touched her food, just looking after you. Is this how much you spoil her?”
Evadne, leisurely enjoying the shrimp Thaddeus peeled and the fish he deboned for her, raised an eyebrow, “Just so you know, if you don’t treat Camille right, I’m introducing her to Bennett, Elvis or Aaron! Let’s see how you like that.”
Arnold nearly choked on his food in fear, his bowl almost crashing to the fioor. Camille’s cheeks turned a deeper shade of red as she patted his back, handing him her glass of water, “Ms Ashbourne, please don’t tease me.”
“Camille, my mistake.”
Arnold hurriedly served her more food, his face a shade of beetroot red, nearly in tears, “It’s my first time being a boyfriend. I’m not perfect, but give me a chance. I’ll learn fast – no, I’ll learn right now!”
Camille shyly bit her lip, her fingers, so accustomed to crafting exquisite garments, playfully poked his chest, “No rush, we’ve got all the time in the world.”.
Thaddeus and Evadne shared a knowing smile.
The Ashbourne siblings were many, each with their own talents and temperaments. But one thing was certain – they were all hopeless romantics.
After dinner, it was back to business.
“Ms Ashbourne, guess who visited my studio today?” Camille asked with a serious gleam in her eye.
“Who?”
“Matthew’s wife, Elva.”
The couple was shocked, exclaiming in unison, “What was she doing there?!”
“She came to order a gown for a gala.” Camille explained, troubled by the memory, “It was nothing much, but you wouldn’t believe her exaggerated reaction. Just because I said I needed an appointment and couldn’t provide a gown immediately, she actually cried and knelt down, begging me to make her one.”
Evadne’s eyes widened, as if she was hearing a tale from a far–off land.

What was meant to be a serious conversation suddenly took a comical turn, and Camille had to restrain herself from rolling her
eyes.
In court, Prosecutor Arnold Ashbourne was decisive and eloquent, but at home, he was a completely different person, one with seemingly no relation to his professional persona.
“Ha, the Chambers family’s pride is worth less than a dime.”
Thaddeus‘ thin lips curled with disdain, his voice icy with revulsion, “No wonder Matthew rarely shows up in public with his wife. To degrade herself over a mere dress, what kind of man would hold such a woman in high regard?”
Evadne shook her head, her eyes shadowed with concern, “I fear things aren’t as straightforward as they seem. Although Elva isn’t born into wealth, she’s a lady of education, raised in a family of infiuence. Common sense would dictate she’d guard her reputation fiercely, not grovel over some piece of clothing. Could it be someone is threatening her behind the scenes, forcing her hand?”
“Ms Ashbourne, you always hit the nail on the head.”
Camille took a deep breath, trying to quell the storm within. When she looked up again, her eyes were still laced with angry veins, “Elva fainted in the fitting room while trying on clothes.
I rushed in to check on her and found her body was covered in wounds. There were bruises from beatings, scars from cigarette burns, and lash marks. Some were fresh, barely crusted over.”
The room fell into a stunned silence at her revelation.
Suddenly, a loud slam resounded. Evadne’s eyes blazed with fury as she slammed her hand on the table, startling even Thaddeus, who was no stranger to rough seas.
“Matthew…that human beast! He deserves of a thousand cuts!”
The lady was not one to suffer in silence, and domestic abuse, such an atrocious act, was utterly unforgivable to her!
