Chapter 368
Chasel’s eyes widened as if he’d heard something that deeply wounded his pride. His fair face turned
bright red, and after a moment, he choked out, “What?”
“Has Dr. Bright been abroad too long? Have you forgot your mother tongue? Would you like me to
translate it for you?” Evadne’s beautiful eyes were filled with hidden sharpness, her smile exuding an
invisible pressure.
Rarely did women display such a smile.
It held a potent mix of authority and audacity, effectively suppressing Chasel’s free–spirited aura.
“Are you saying that I refused to treat Thaddeus because I couldn’t cure his illness?” Chasel asked
through gritted teeth.
“Is there any other explanation?” Evadne shrugged.
“What a joke!”
Chasel angrily slapped the table, “Have you been here for too long? Did you forget that my reputation
abroad surpasses even Dr. Eve’s? I’ve consulted on countless complex medical cases, saving
numerous lives, even the Grim Reaper would offer me à toast! And you dare say my medical skills are
inadequate? That’s outrageous!”
Evadne smiled, and merely remained silent, quietly observing his flustered state.
Suddenly, as if realizing something, Chasel leaned back comfortably, his cunning fox–like eyes
gleaming with amusement as he looked at her, “Heh, almost fell for your provocation, Ms. Ashbourne.
Your strategy may work on others, but I’m not some superficial man who’s obsessed with saving face. I
won’t fall for your tricks.”
“Alas, I thought you are a man of great vision. Despite your refusal to treat the wealthy, you must know
that Mr. Abernathy is a well–respected businessman. From his tenure as CEO to his current
philanthropic endeavors, the charity foundation he established has helped countless people. Surely
you’ve heard of this. Despite this, Dr. Bright, you insist on adhering to your principles. Don’t you think
you’re being too inflexible?”
After Evadne finished speaking, she was taken aback.
She had been divorced for a long time, yet she was still able to effortlessly praise Thaddeus. Even she
found it hard to believe.
Stripping away personal feelings, Thaddeus was indeed an excellent manager, practically perfect if not
for the emotional aspect.
Otherwise, Evadne wouldn’t have silently loved him tirelessly for so many years. After all, when a

Evadne, she felt both of these emotions for Thaddeus.
That was why she had been infatuated for thirteen years.
“Ms. Ashbourne, no matter what you say, it won’t work.”
Though Chasel was somewhat swayed, he remained stubborn, “No matter what you say, I won’t
budge. The fact that you used your connections to bring me back from abroad without my consent
means we have nothing to discuss. You clearly lack basic respect for others because of your wealth
and power. I’m going to book a flight back immediately. If you dare stop me, I’ll call the police!”
As Chasel was about to storm off, Evadne calmly sipped her tea, saying slowly, “Ah, even Dr. Eve
couldn’t solve the problem. I thought Dr. Bright was the only hope.”
“Who? Who did you say?!” Chasel stopped abruptly, his eyes wide with shock.
“Dr. Eve.”
“You’re saying Dr. Eve treated Thaddeus?! Why would she even bother to do that?!” Chasel couldn’t
help but lament.
“What do you mean ‘bother to do‘?” The normally composed lady was somewhat irritated by his words,
slamming her hand on the table.
“Nothing! Dr. Eve is my ido!!”
Chasel spoke of Dr. Eve with admiration, “Even though I haven’t met her in person, her noble
demeanor and lovely image are perfect in my mind.”
“Moreover, in our medical field, to achieve the medical breakthroughs Dr. Eve has made and perform
so many remarkable surgeries, it would take at least thirty years!”
Evadne rubbed her chin. Well, what he said was right.
If Chasel knew that the woman he found irritating, the one who had orchestrated his “kidnapping” and
dealt a blow to his pride, was Dr. Eve in flesh, he would undoubtedly feel immensely ashamed of the
flattery he had just spouted, wishing he could just disappear on the spot!
“A man that even Dr. Eve has tried to save, are you still questioning his moral standing, Dr. Bright?”
Evadne asked with a calm smile, “Are you indirectly questioning your idol’s moral standing?”
Although her words carried a hint of moral coercion.
But at this point, to deal with this sly fox, she had to use all means necessary.
Chasel pressed his lips, pulled a chair, and slowly sat down, lost in thought.
“Fine, for Dr. Eve’s sake, I’ll take a look.”
Evadne was overjoyed, but only a slight curve appeared at the corner of her lips, “On behalf of Dr. Eve,
thank you.”
Having finally returned home for a visit, Elvis was not in a rush to leave. However, he couldn’t stay idle
either. Just like when he was younger, he would sleep soundly at home during the day and eagerly
head out as soon as night fell.
Hence, Arnold would often joke around, “To those who know, you’re a night owl. To those who don’t,
they might think you’re in some clandestine profession, hiding by day and emerging by night.”
Elvis invited Arnold, Cassius, and Evadne out for drinks, but only Arnold couldn’t resist his persuasion
and reluctantly accompanied him.
After all, Elvis only acted like a little brother when asking him to drink.
However, he secretly took liver protection medicine and carried hangover relief tablets. Otherwise, he
wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Once they arrived at the bar, they specifically chose a discreet place to avoid drawing attention.
It was indeed a challenge for the Ashbourne brothers to keep a low profile, especially when their good
looks could turn heads even in the night clubs, even in the entertainment circle.
Thus, their evenings were usually spent fending off advances from women rather than enjoying their
drinks.
Arnold grew tired of it, but surprisingly, Elvis found amusement in this game. He suggested that they
drink a shot every time a woman approached them, and as a result, both ended up equally drunk.
Eventually, Elvis admitted defeat and bluntly told a woman, “I have a girlfriend.”
“I don’t believe you. If you have a girlfriend, why would you two be here, drinking? It seems to me like
you’re looking for girls, handsome.”
The woman leaned against Elvis flirtatiously, but he quickly sidestepped, making her stumble. He then
pulled out his phone and showed her Evadne’s picture, “Look, this is my wife. Isn’t she pretty?”
Arnold glanced at the picture and almost spat out his drink.
“What the heck?” The woman huffed in envy and left.
Arnold slammed his glass on the table, glaring at him, “Elvis, that’s just not right. Who in their right mind
would claim their sister as their wife? You’ve crossed a line!”
“I’m proud of having such a beautiful sister. Why should I hide it? I want everyone to see her.”
Elvis downed his drink and a bitter smile crossed his face, “Not like that unfaithful douchebag, who has
the most beautiful wife in the world but keeps her hidden away and cheats on her!”
Arnold took a sip of his own drink, “Thaddeus, huh?”
“Who else could I be talking about?”
Elvis lit a cigarette, his eyes filled with anger, “I don’t understand what Evadne sees in him. She should
let him deal with his own problems instead of wasting her time and energy to search doctor for him.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmArnold tried to comfort him, “Just think of it as Evadne helping a stray dog. Don’t take it too seriously.”
“Would Chasel treat him?”
“Probably, yes. After all, there’s nothing Evadne couldn’t handle.”
“Well, I hardly would come back again. I need to do something before leaving.”
Elvis took a deep drag of his cigarette and exhaled a wreath of smoke, “Maybe I should sneak into the
operating room and.”
He made a gesture of cutting the throat.
Arnold shivered at once, “Don’t even think about it, Elvis! If you lay a finger on Thaddeus, it’ll cause an
uproar in Elmsworth. Don’t put Evadne or our dad in a difficult position.”
Elvis chuckled, “I was just kidding
Elvis patted Arnold’s shoulder and headed towards the crowded dancing floor.
He was too drunk. He needed to sober up from the alcohol.
Gazing at the crowded dancing floor, Arnold felt a surge of suffocation, plus he loathed the smell of
smoke like Evadne, so he went out for some fresh air.
The dance floor was a pulsating mix of flashing lights, loud music, and attractive women dancing
seductively.
With the cigarette dangling from his mouth, Elvis danced intimately with women he didn’t know.
He blended in seamlessly, his dance moves provocative yet slick. Had he not been so handsome, he
would have been mistaken for a hooligan.
Suddenly, an obsessive familiar scent caught his attention.
His senses were already heightened because of the alcohol, and the scent made him dizzy. He was so
lost in his thoughts that he didn’t notice a woman throwing herself at him until he felt her soft body
against his.
He held her close and took a moment to appreciate her scent and softness.
Under the flashing lights, Elvis squinted to get a better look at the woman.
?!
He was stunned immediately as if being struck by lightening, every finger of his hands that held the
woman’s waist numb.
“E…E?!”
No, she wasn’t Évadne. Evadne didn’t have a mole above her eyebrow, and she wouldn’t wear such
sweet perfume.
-Suddenly, Elvis‘ pupils contracted, memory hit him. He exclaimed, “It’s you?!”
The woman he met briefly when he was abroad, but had never forgotten.
“Hottie, you know who I am? But I don’t know you.”
Elsie Archer, looked at him with drunk eyes, her fair–skinned arms draping over his neck, warm breath
spraying to his Adam’s apple, “But I do like your bold pickup lines.”
