Chapter 1428
somehow, it didn't show up on any of the villa's security footage.
The scene abruptly cut off outside the Minton family's place, where someone had messed with the security
cameras. It was only about a mile away that a security camera caught a quick glimpse of a black sedan. This car
seemed to be heading towards the villa area, yet "I haven't seen this car around here before," Jonah frowned. "It
doesn't seem like it belongs to anyone from this neighborhood."
"Let's run the license plate on this car," Sophie suggested.
"Got it."
Jonah got right to it, jotting down the license plate number and kicking off the investigation. In less than ten
minutes, they had sresults.

"The car's license plate is registered to a Joseph."
The mention of 'Joseph' made Sophie's face fall. Joseph? How could it be him? Sophie hadn't seen his body
herself, but plenty of people had witnessed Joseph being kicked out, and the Burke family had even set up a
funeral for him. How could he be back? Remembering a call from James, who had warned her that things weren't
over, Sophie's heart skipped a beat. She quickly pulled out her phone and dialed James.
James picked up almost immediately.
"What's up?" James's steady voice cthrough the line.
"Odie's gone missing, and the license plate traces back to Joseph. Have you seen this car?" Sophie sent him a
photo at the stime.
James was quiet for a moment before responding, "I haven't seen that car."
"Is Joseph really dead?"
"Yeah, he's dead," James said. "I was the one who stabbed him. There's no way he's still alive."
"Then someone's playing games," Sophie said, her eyes narrowing. She thought things had finally settled down,
but it seemed like someone was still pulling the strings behind the scenes.
"Don't worry too much. You've got the Aldridge family's intel network, right? Dig deeper. If | remember right,
they've got info on everyone in the Devonport area. Figuring out who die might be involved with or who might
have taken him shouldn't be too hard."
"Thanks a lot."
Sophie hung up and was about to call Harold when Colby cupstairs and said, "No need to keep looking; he
left on his own."

"On his own?" Sophie asked, puzzled. "What do you mean?"

Colby placed a joker card on the table. The black jester on the card was dancing. "This was on the bedroom desk
at the Minton place. It's a message he left."
"What does it mean?"
"When we were on missions, we used codes to communicate. Odie was great at gambling and always had a deck
of cards with him. The joker means danger is near." Colby explained further, "He must have left by himself.
Leaving the card was his way of letting us know that someone was after him."
Worried about Odie, Jonah asked, "Why wouldn't the boss takewith him?"
"He probably didn't take you because the other person only wanted to meet with him alone."
