Chapter 1323

"Eugene? What are you two talking about?" Lydia walked over, looking at them both with curiosity.

Eugene immediately took a step back from Quincy, smiling casually. "Oh, nothing important. Let's go. I'll take

you back. We picked up all these gifts, and I'm sure your mom will love them."

As Lydia and Eugene walked off, Quincy felt an intense urge to go after them, to catch up and set things right.

But he held himself back. He knew that until he had resolved his own family issues, he shouldn't pull Lydia into

any more of his problems. Tiffany wasted no tpiling on, trying to sway him again. "Quincy, did you see that?

I've been trying to tell you how she really is, but you never want to listen. But there they were, flaunting it right

in front of us."

She sidled closer to Quincy, subtly trying to take his arm, but he quickly stepped aside. "Get in the car. I'll drive

you to the hospital," he said, brushing her off.

"Alright, let's go. Your mom and cousin are waiting for us. It wouldn't be good to keep them waiting." Tiffany

reluctantly agreed and opened the front passenger door, settling into the seat.

Quincy looked over, his brows knitting together. "Get in the back."

"I'm already in, and I've got my seatbelt on. Does it really matter where | sit? It's a short drive anyway." Tiffany

lowered her gaze, hiding a flicker of frustration in her eyes.

He was keeping such clear boundaries between them, and it stung. She couldn't help but regret not having

pushed his mother to use a stronger dose that day. Even if nothing had actually happened between them, if

Quincy had passed out, she could have easily let him believe whatever suited her.

But it was too late for that now. Tiffany silently fumed, strategizing how she could finally get him to give up on

Lydia for good.

Not long after, the car stopped outside the hospital. Quincy got out and headed straight into the hospital room,

not bothering to wait for Tiffany, who trailed a few steps behind.

He handed a bag to Mabel. "Here's something for you."

"Thanks, Quincy!" Mabel peeked inside, her eyes lighting up. "I love everything in here. You know, your wife and |

really have the staste, even down to the exact sfoundation shade!"

Quincy didn't respond, nor did he seem interested in her excitement. After chatting on her own for a bit, Mabel

eventually fell silent.

When Tiffany entered the room, Mrs. Perez greeted her with concern. "Tiffany, did everything go smoothly with

the shopping? You didn't run into anyone you shouldn't have, did you?"

As a mother, she naturally thought

her son was a catch in every way. She was convinced that if Quincy and Lydia divorced, Lydia would be the one

losing out and that she might even try to cling to him. The last thing she wanted was for her son to be influenced

by anything Lydia might say.

"Mrs. Perez, we did run into... well, let's just call them friends. Things got a bit tense, though. I didn't mind, but

Quincy was really upset." Tiffany seized the opportunity while Quincy had stepped out to speak with the doctor.

She exaggerated the incident at the mall, making it sound much worse than it was.

As the people in the room listened, their anger simmered. Mrs. Perez, in particular, began clutching her chest,

clearly distressed. It was as if a weight was pressing down on her, making it hard to breathe.

"Are you okay?" Mabel quickly poured a cup of warm water and offered it to Mrs. Perez. "If you're not feeling well,

you should rest for a bit."
