Chapter 1227 Raymond Is Her Painkiller Richard immediately fell silent. Lawrence had always been a family man, but he was ruthless to outsiders.

Two more days passed, and the three factions were still searching for Selena, causing quite a stir in their circles. But Selena remained missing.

During these two days, Raymond had been out almost constantly, rarely returning to Manston Manor.

He had sent everyone from Manston Manor out to search, leaving no one behind. He was desperate to find Selena, obsessively so.

Meanwhile, the Selena everyone was searching for slowly woke up in bed.

Everything was pitch black in front of her; she couldn't see a thing.

Instinctively, she reached for the bedside lamp to turn it on.

But a man grabbed her wrist, and he asked, "How are you feeling?" Her whole body tensed up. The voice sounded familiar, but she couldn't place where she had heard it before.

The man's hand was gentle, merely pressing her wrist down.

"You're badly injured. Try not to move." "Turn on the light. I can't see anything." The man paused, glancing at the bright sunlight streaming into the room.

He waved his hand in front of Selena's eyes.

There was no reaction in her eyes, like a still pond.

Selena quickly realized what was happening. She could feel the warmth of the sunlight, but everything she saw was still pitch black.

"Am I blind?" Was it because of a severe blow to the head, pressing on her nerves? Her tone was calm, but her hand, hanging by her side, slowly clenched, her nails nearly digging into her palm. She heard footsteps approaching from outside, followed by someone examining her.

She felt like an outsider, listening to two people discussing her condition.

Someone asked if she could recover, and the answer was that it was uncertain. It could be temporary blindness or permanent.

Selena's body stiffened, feeling her heart slowly sinking into a dark abyss.

A hand gently rested on her wrist, and she heard the man comforting her.

"It's okay, don't worry." Selena didn't respond, feeling only cold.

She didn't know where she was, who these people were, or how many days had passed since she escaped the basement.

She wanted to ask, but found she couldn't make a sound.

Overwhelmed by immense sadness, her throat ached terribly.

The man's hand gently rested on her shoulder again.

"Just rest here. Someone will take care of you. If you need anything, just let them know." Selena suddenly clutched her head, the pain unbearable, her face turning pale.

The man pried her mouth open and gave her smedicine.

"Take spainkillers. Your injuries are severe; you'll need to take these for a while." The medicine slid down her throat, leaving a faint bitter taste.

The man's voice sounded in her ear again.

"Don't worry, everything will get better." She still couldn't speak, but she unconsciously reached out, slowly grabbing his sleeve. Who was he? Could he let her see Raymond? But she couldn't speak, and the overwhelming fear engulfed her. Even though she tried to stay calm, realizing she was blind shattered all her rationality.

She felt like a wounded animal, desperately seeking comfort, and Raymond was her painkiller. She wanted to see him.

The man standing in front of her saw her fear. After a minute of kesitation, he slowly leaned in and hugged her. Selena's body stiffened, wanting him to let go, but she had no strength.

Tears streamed down her face, and a soft whimper escaped her throat, per e tugging at the man's heart. His hand gently patted her back, trying to comfort her.

Selena was too exhausted, too scared, and she fainted.

The man released her, gently laying her back on the bed and covering her with a blanket.
