Chapter 156 "Ugh, you're so annoying," Effie muttered, cheeks flushing as she spoke.

A moment later, her stomach grumbled loudly.

Lyman grinned. "I'll make breakfast. Cout when it's ready." "Okay." After breakfast, Effie headed to the office.

Today she needed to visit the factory.

The Etheridge Group owned its own jewelry workshop, and a client had recently ordered a custom set. Effie wanted to meet the craftsman in person to go over the details.

Sof the techniques were tricky, but to achieve the perfect result, she had to communicate every nuance, making sure the finished piece met the client's expectations.

Once the morning meeting was done, Effie set off for the factory.

Originally, Shirley was supposed to join her, but the director had pulled her aside for something urgent at the last minute.

So Effie went alone.

The factory was out in the suburbs, which meant she had to drive herself. Honestly, she preferred it that way-less hassle getting back later.

Effie grabbed her things and left without delay.

Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Isabel was fuming. Ever since she'd been caught wearing a knockoff, people kept whispering and pointing at her wherever she went. It was infuriating.

The moment she got home, Isabel stormed to her vanity, swept her collection of expensive cosmetics onto the floor, and let out a furious scream as glass shattered and bottles clattered everywhere.

Carole rushed in, taking in the chaos. "My dear, what on earth happened?" Isabel, her voice tight with anger, snapped, “Carole, I can't stand this anymore. Everyone knows I wore a fake, everyone's laughing atbehind my back." Maybe she was being paranoid, but Isabel couldn't shake the feeling that people were gossiping about her everywhere she went.

It was suffocating.

And it was all Effie's fault. If it weren't for her, Isabel would never have beceveryone's joke.

"You're overthinking it. Who would dare mock you? Besides, this is a minor scandal-it'll blow over soon. Don't worry, I'm here for you. I'll help you sort this out." Isabel felt a little better, but resentment still simmered beneath the surface. "It just makes my blood boil, seeing that conniving witch Effie so smug. And now Lyman's avoiding me, too." She swallowed hard, unable to let it go.

"Don't worry, Isabel. If we can't deal with her openly, we'll do it another way. The important nt thing is to get rid of Effie once she's gone, Mr. Etheridge will cback to you. You two have history; nothing will cbetween you." Carole's tone was cool and confident. Isabel's eyes lit up. "Carole, do you have something in mind?"

"Of course. I've had someone keeping tabs on Effie for a while. If the right opportunity comes along, we cam take care of her-quietly, without anyone knowing." Carole's smile turned sly. "And as it happens, today's our chance." "Are you serious?" Isabel asked, hope flickering in her voice.

"Absolutely. In fact, I cin to tell you the good news. Effie drove out alone for work this morning-she should be hitting the outskirts by now. Everything's in place," Carole replied, her eyes cold and calculating. She was always prepared. Isabel was her golden ticket-she couldn't let anything happen to her.

Effie was nothing, just an obstacle in Isabel's way. And obstacles needed to be removed.

Hearing this, Isabel's gaze hardened as she stared at her reflection in the mirror, a triumphant smile curling on her lips. "Excellent, Carole. Very well done. I can't wait to see that woman get what she deserves."
