"Rebecca?" Sherilyn's voice was a mix of shock and delight.
Ever since Rebecca White got discharged from the hospital, Sherilyn hadn't seen her, "How have you been? Are your eyes..." Before she could finish, another voice interrupted from the other end of the call.
"Ms. White, what are you doing?" "Ah..." Rebecca let out a soft gasp, too hurried to say anything more before the call abruptly ended.
"Rebecca? Rebecca?" Sherilyn was bewildered. Why did Rebecca call if she wasn't going to say anything? The entire ordeal lasted less than ten seconds! Phone still in hand, Sherilyn's brows furrowed in concern.

"Something wrong with your friend?" Sherilyn looked up, the worry evident on her face.
Perhaps it was because Gilbert was the only one around, or maybe it was because he had been pretty decent to her lately, but subconsciously, she felt he was someone she could trust. Without overthinking, she blurted out, "Can you trace a blocked number?" She handed him her phone, showing the call log.
"Rebecca just called me, but the number was hidden." Gilbert didn't quite get it, "But you know it was Rebecca, right?" "I feel like something's not right," Sherilyn's mind was a mess, "I'm worried Rebecca might be in danger." "Why would you think that?" "Then why would she callfrom a hidden number? And her voice... it sounded odd." "Was she crying? Asking for help?" "No, not that," Sherilyn shook her head, "but she seemed panicked..." Another voice on the call, perhaps a household servant, carried an unnerving mix of threat and oppression.
It was right after this voice that the call was hastily cut.
Did Rebecca end the call? Or was it that servant? Was Rebecca in skind of trouble? "The only lead I have is this hidden number. Can you helpcheck it out..." As she spoke, Sherilyn suddenly stopped.
Had she taken him for granted? Her tone was as casual as if she was asking him to fetch her a glass of water. Gilbert was smirking, his eyes intense but teasing, as he said, "Sherilyn, you're becoming pretty bold with me, aren't you?" Content Uh... Sherilyn felt a bit awkward. "I mean, if it's not too much trouble... could you help out?" "How could I not?" Gilbert smile as he leaned in deepened an eyebrow, his whispering, "In front of his when does a guy ever say t Sherilyn blushed, caught off guard.
Their relationship, it seemed, was slowly changing...
