Neral fidgeted in place for a few seconds before he decided to speak. It might have seemed as if there was a bit of worry coming from him, enough to have made Cole wary, but honestly Cole couldn't tell if Neral was worried about what he had seen, or perhaps it had to with the fact that he could not stop staring and glaring at Cassandra. It would have been funny had Cole not started loosing his patience, and the small growl he let loose was more than enough to set the Cyber dog on the right path.
"Right! Since I was given a basic idea of the first wave, I'd say the second had roughly five hundred individual Banelings heading this way. These are the basic stuff, however they have two bruisers amongst their ranks, and a single special that seems to have a speed based ability. As long as we can come up with contingencies for the speed Baneling, I don't think we should have any problems, we can just keep pelting them all with bullets until there's nothing left."
The report was simple, and even a lot better than Intel they had previously received. For one Neral was able to tell the exact number of enemies that was heading their way. The Bruisers were definitely the massive zombie with one too many nipples that they had fought, but they were now two heading their way perhaps this was precedent with the Horde, maybe the next wave would have three if it's an addition of one, or four it it's being multiplied.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtNever the less the time for planning was over as Cole could see the zombies heading their way over the horizon, and unlike the last ones who had shambled their way over here, these guys were running, and they were fast, really fucking fast. They ate up the distance as if they had motors and engines for organs, Cole widened his eyes in shock, some of the fighters were still beyond the barricade, they would not be able to get here on time to mount up a proper defense.
"Fuck! Cassandra! Slow them the fuck down! The rest of you get your fucking asses back here and get your rifles up and shooting, double time! Move it!"
Cassandra did not need to be told twice as she pulled out her bow…., It was new. It looked a lot more futuristic now have a gleaming silver body, strings that glowed and flowed with energy, and arcs of energy etched into grooves. Cole could sense the tech in that bow on a level that made it seem as if he could actually talk to the damn thing. But then there was still the flow of magic, a perfect marriage of the two….. that bloody bow gave him a weird feeling it was like trying to look at the front and back at the same time.
[Requiem Of Stars: Fire]
A technique! How! Even Cole with all of his advancements did not have a fucking technique. Those things were immensely better than skills in the fact that they were skills that had become knowledge. You could say they were akin to and we're the martial arts of Titan Rising online. They cost or the energy cost for them is extremely low to nonexistent, depending on the level of it anyway and they were extremely flexible.
The only way to gain one, from what Cole had been told before was to get a stat to Diamond Rank, then pick a skill within that stat to make a knowledge…. Hence a technique. It could also be given to you by denizens, though to get it in that manner, you would have to be trained personally by them. Cole had nothing to say, Cassandra had her own secrets, but whatever it was, it gave them the time they desperately needed.
A single arrow whistled into the air, then split into two, and then two into four, and then each of the four arrows split into eight, then each of the eight arrows became sixteen and so on and so forth until the skill was filled with fiery trails of falling arrows. They were so bright that they completely took over from the sun to provide lighting for them. The arrows crashed into the ranks of the undead with the force of a bullet, smashing through skulls and homes and setting them and everything else around on fire.
Cole had thought that perhaps Cassandra had been one of those who had slacked off after their glade completed all it's quest and became a territory they could build up and survive in. But he guessed he was wrong as the woman was a lot stronger than the last time he saw her….. in fact, from the way things were looking, she was chasing right on his heels in then power scale.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmShe bought them the time they so desperately needed, and in the process took down at least 50 of the Baneling zombies. Cole was about to give the order when his [Sin Seeking Eyes] screamed so loudly at him, he could not stop himself from crying out loud in pain. The skill showed him the next ten seconds into the future and Cassandra's head getting smashed apart by something they all couldn't see. Cole reacted, relying on instinct rather than perception as he wrapped Cassandra around a bubble of [Gravity] and reinforced it with his [Negative Energy] by utilizing his [Energy Manipulation] Mastery skill.
*Boom!*
There was a loud explosion as their entire line was decimated and the bubble destroyed. But it was not without consequence as the Baneling responsible for it was also thrown backwards, it's thin body rolling and flipping head over heels like some rag doll. The only person who was okay was Cassandra and she did not stand on ceremony as before the Baneling would even be able to come to a stop she had blasted an Arrow straight through its skull, blasting it's head to pieces in the process as Vines surged out of it in a tangled web, and stabbed into nearby Banelings, drinking them dry of blood. And all Cole could say to the shocking scene was.
"What the fuck?"
