Chapter 912 All Hell Break Loose (8)
Deus's eyes narrowed as he sensed an active array formation near the location where the high-density energy core was.
'No... not near... that energy core is right above that formation,' Deus corrected himself inwardly after getting close to the coordinates provided by his automatons.
'Hm?' he paused slightly, realizing he could no longer sense Ruin nearby.
Deus expanded his magic eye, a higher level of magic sense, to check if Ruin had already arrived near the energy core's location and was hiding his presence. However, he failed to see even the latter's shadow.
Could Ruin have gone back to Somuli for a different reason?
"It does not matter," Deus muttered after a short pause. If he could avoid another confrontation with Ruin, it would be for the best.
He was there for one reason only, which was to capture their target. Where he was going and what he was about to do was already him making a huge exception because of his curiosity about the origin of the high-density energy core.
Now, as he drew near the energy core, Deus discovered another mystery he wanted to unearth— an array formation, which was likely higher than a Saint-tier.
'Fascinating... truly fascinating indeed,' Deus thought as the smile on his face grew maniacal.
On the other hand, Ruin had arrived, where he sensed Flos and the Macabre Glacier's presence. However, he was not the first one to come.
Several other figures, who were representatives from other Sovereign factions, as well as Flos's subordinates, were already there and were in the midst of a confrontation.
Ruin scowled as he stopped and concealed his presence. After which, he hid on top of an old tree close to a clearing and watched all the representatives, some of whom were Sovereigns who had their levels restricted, fighting.
'I have only been away for a short while, and yet so many representatives have already entered Somuli?'
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtRuin knew that all the Sovereign factions were doing whatever they could to recruit all other powerful mages in Somuli while also winning over resources for their side before the Sovereign of Bulwark completely agreed to join Flos's side. But Ruin did not anticipate that the confrontation on both sides had already escalated to a degree where they would openly engage in a fight with one another without a care of being seen by Somuli's native inhabitants.
'Or are they only being like this because they sensed the Macabre Glacier?'
The news of the Macabre Glacier had been kept under wraps, and only a few were aware of it. Considering this, it would be impossible for the other Sovereign factions to recognize the Macabre Glacier's aura.
Knowing Flos, Ruin was also confident he would not make the mistake of disclosing what the Macabre Glacier's aura felt like. Even if there were other Sovereigns who could make their own guesses, those who truly recognized the Macabre Glacier could be counted on one hand.
Ruin paused.
Actually, that was what the general public knew. The truth was, there were quite a lot of beings— particularly the Spirits— who could recognize the Macabre Glacier. However, because most of them were in hiding, with more whose lives and deaths were unknown, none could attest to it.
Except for Ruin and the previous Void Master.
Since they were the sole survivor of that fateful day when the Dark Sage had fallen, and the Void Master sealed the Macabre Glacier.
Putting all those thoughts aside, Ruin continued to observe the confrontation between the different representatives of each Sovereign Factions.
Due to the limited supply of magic energy in the surroundings, the clash between the two sides was limited to small-scale and low-consumption magic spells.
Watching them made Ruin itch all over. It was like a fight between little kids in a large playpen— without even a hint of these mages being Sovereigns or powerful individuals from different planes.
The scene below was hurting Ruin's eyes!
In the end, he could only endure and continue to observe while trying to identify each of the representatives below.
After a while, Ruin noticed that most of the representatives were actually working together against Flos's side. Ruin was unsurprised about this because, to the other Sovereign factions, Flos's faction, which was close to recruiting the Somuli Sovereign, was their biggest enemy.
As for why the other factions were there, based on the conversations that Ruin heard, they were there simply because they sensed a powerful magic and were curious. Upon seeing Flos's subordinates, they immediately engaged them in a fight, wanting to stop them from acquiring another item that could boost their faction's power.
Ruin let out a dry laugh in his heart.
Technically, those representatives were right because the Macabre Glacier would indeed boost the strength of Flos's faction. But they had no idea how much boost it would provide.
Deciding not to meddle in their kid-like squabble, Ruin observed the surroundings and tried locating Flos and the Macabre Glacier's exact location.
After confirming that they were underground, Ruin left and looked for a relatively empty part of the forest and dug his own path to where Flos was.
Meanwhile, the confrontation among the other groups on Kyran's side was either in a stalemate or entering a critical juncture.
This was especially true at the Armakea borders.
The battle there had been an attrition type where the Armakea kept bombarding the defensive array of the border but ended up failing. With Gael and Kesiah attacking the Armakea from the rear, the tides were already in their favor.
However, Kesiah soon realized that Mo was missing. As a matter of fact, there were other Legendary-level Knights who had gone missing.
This did not bid well for them. Or, at least, not to the groups in Larkring. After all, Mo was considered the most powerful Aide of the King, and with Legendary-level Knights at his disposal, he could easily reclaim the Military District.
As soon as Gael learned of this, he made full use of his Shadow minions to find them. Apart from that, he and Kesiah started to prepare a contingency plan. Once they took care of the rest of the King's forces at the border, they would then execute the plan.
Just when Gael, Kesiah, and the rest of their people felt the battle was coming to a close, ten figures in white robes appeared right above the battlefield.
These figures were none other than Deus's MEx-δ series.
Going back an hour or two before the MEx-δ series arrived at the Armakea border, Mo, along with twenty other Legendary-level Knights, who left the battlefield undetected, had made their way to a secret underground fort.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThis fort was not built by the Armakea but a fort that had long been there along with the borders. It had an array formation of its own, which was connected to the one the Armakea Royal Family discovered under the Armakea Castle.
In this fort, there was a small transmission array connected to the Armakea Castle. Unfortunately, because of the amount of magic energy required to activate the array, it was impossible to use in succession.
Although Mo and his group did use a transmission array to arrive at the border in a short span of time, they used a different one from that secret underground fort. Initially, Mo wanted to return to the location of the transmission array they came to, but their scouts reported that the transmission arrays had all been destroyed.
Because of this, Mo decided to use another, which was only known by the King and his Aides.
Fortunately, they had enough philosopher's stone to activate the transmission array. Not to mention, their number was few; thus, they only needed to activate it once.
After going through all that, Mo and the Legendary-level Knights arrived at a room in the castle's underground section.
And it so happened that the room where Mo and these knights had appeared in was where Breira and a few automatons had also entered.
Mo's eyes narrowed as soon as he realized that Breira no longer bore the King's pact.
On the other hand, Breira wore an indifferent expression, but inwardly, his mind reeled at the sight of Mo.
Mo looked at the dark-armored people with Breira as he said, "For you to betray your own King, you are a disgrace to all Knights."
A part of Breira felt guilty after hearing Mo's words. However, recalling the things that he was forced to do because he was a knight to a sinful King immediately lessened that guilt. After which, thinking of his new Master and comparing him to the previous one eased what was left of that guild in Breira's heart.
With his head held high, Breira replied, "Everyone has their own bottom lines. Right now, the path King Aran wanted to walk and the future he has in mind no longer agree with mine."
"A knight talking about bottom lines..." Mo scowled, "You are truly a disgrace."
In the blink of an eye, Mo's figure disappeared and reappeared right before Breira.
"I will personally mete out your punishment."
