"I had thought you sounded familiar. To think you had been reduced to such a state after losing your first master."
"—Ames! What do you mean by reduced to such a state? I am in this form because I chose to, alright?"
Ames looked at the True Void and snorted disdainfully at him before returning her attention to Kyran. Her eyes narrowed at once after sensing the latter's condition.
"He… his condition is not caused by those moving lumps of metals."
It was not a question but a statement she directed at True Void venomously. She berated, "You, of all people, should know not to drink the Elixir in one go! Why did you not stop him?"
True Void started to sweat non-existent cold sweats on his back. His reddish-purple eyes shifted nervously as he avoided Ames's golden eyes.
Unfortunately, his action was caught by her, and she knew at once Kyran did not drink the Elixir by his own will!
"You piece of abominable creation! What did you do to my great-grandson!"
"What great grandson? Should it not be great x50 grandson, you ancient old hag!"
"You—! The Regis Clan's lifespan is longer than the average! One generation can last 50 to 75 years! And what's with that ancient? Are you not the same? No, you are far from that; you are an antique relic!"
Wait. What she said just now was the same, right?
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtJita looked at them in confusion. She would not have understood their language if she had not been reborn as Kyran's Servant. Still, she could barely follow what their discussion was. Or, could it be their discussion was not meant for unrelated people to understand?
Jita decided it was best not to comment on that.
"Are we not veering away from the main point here?" True Void could not help but say with a grim expression. Though he wanted to alleviate Ames's anger by picking on her sore point— her age— her concern over Kyran's condition was indeed his fault.
As she said, True Void knew the impact on a human's body after consuming the Elixir in one go. Caelan almost suffered the same if not for Zane stopping him in time. Even after the latter stopped the former, the former still insisted on trying. In the end, Zane proved his point by drinking the Elixir instead. The result was he almost met his Maker.
Zane survived because Ames stepped in just in time to squeeze out most of the Elixir in his body.
In any case, if Zane, who received the Dragon King's baptism at that time, had suffered to the brink of death, Caelan, who possessed a weak body constitution, would have died before he could finish the whole bottle. He might not even last a sip before reuniting with his Maker.
"That's right," Ames agreed, and once more, she glared daggers at True Void. "How dare you make him drink all of it?"
"I had no choice! If his body remained as it is, he would have trouble wielding 100% of his magic. Besides, his internal organs were already in bad shape. Even if he recovered from that, he would suffer a trauma. But if the Elixir's effect is added into the mix while his body heals naturally, he will recover and achieve an evolution!"
"But letting him drink more than a mouthful, not to mention a bottle, is still…!" Ames more or less understood where True Void was coming from, but for a mere human, even a Regis who received a drop of her father's blood, drinking a huge amount of Elixir was suicide. "You should have let him adapt to it slowly!"
"He took a sip before," True Void tried to reason. "That's mainly the reason I believe he could take it."
Still, he never expected Kyran's recovery period would take a long time. It had been almost a month since he took the Elixir, and he had not even shown any signs of waking.
Ames fell silent after hearing True Void's last statement. She looked at Kyran again and thoroughly examined his whole body using her magic sense. Indeed, she found some traces of injury in his body that was not due to the Elixir's effect.
She suspected that Deus's side had already found Kyran and made their move. But she was confident that with his body constitution, and as long as he could utilize his Draconic magic, he would not have any problem dealing with them.
However, it appeared her father's concern was correct.
Kyran could not properly use his Draconic magic.
Before Ames left the Dragon plane and looked for Kyran, her father, the Dragon Emperor, summoned her upon hearing the truth of a new Dragon Lord's appearance.
The Dragon Emperor was skeptical of Ames's claims but was also filled with anticipation, thinking a worthy human that could bear a Draconic core had appeared once more. Nevertheless, his anticipation was followed by unease, knowing that it was impossible for such a human to appear at this time and age.
If that human had the blood of the Ancients, then it was possible. But the Ancients had long disappeared from the Realm, and although the humans in the Human plane were considered their descendants, their bodies and bloodline had long been corrupted by the passage of time, as well as the plane's ever-changing environment and climate. Besides, the Human plane was only a fragment of the once majestic Land of the Ancients. It no longer possessed the energy and resources it used to have.
As for Zane, the Dragon Emperor managed to grant him the Draconic core only because of his baptism. If not, then the former's powerful body would not have been enough.
'That skinny brat, cunning fox, and Zane believed that only by combining the rare bloodlines in the Human plane could they produce a human with a body akin to that of the Ancients. However, Father thought otherwise because even if they combined those rare bloodlines, it is impossible for one person to possess all of them,' Ames thought with furrowed brows. 'But then...'
Ames did not know why, but she felt Kyran's body did not conform to a Regis.
It should be noted that the Regis Clan originally possessed a powerful body, which was why they adapted well to the Dragon King's blood.
To this day, children of the Regis Clan, born between parents who partook of the Dragon King's blood, possessed higher affinity when using the Regis Techniques. If they also drank the Dragon King's blood when they came of age, they had higher chances of utilizing it.
That had been the case with Cade, as his father and late mother both partook of the Dragon King's blood.
'This child is born between a Regis and that skinny brat's descendant. His blood could not become stronger than that of his father. Yet... what is this?'
For some reason, her father's blood, which should have been coursing through Kyran's veins, was missing.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmNo. It was not really missing but weak. Nevertheless, Ames could sense Kyran's blood was very similar to theirs. As a matter of fact, it even seemed thicker.
'Is it because he already absorbed the Elixir, thus, his evolution has begun?' Ames wondered. Still, she had an inkling that it was not the sole reason.
True Void was anxiously looking at Ames. Truth be told, he was scared of this dragon lady. When he had only born a sentient, he remembered clashing with this dragon lady's claws— literally— every time his master and Zane met.
Caelan could have easily used Void barrier to protect himself from Ames's attacks, but because he did not want to hurt her in front of Zane, he could only wave his staff— which had been True Void's initial form— and defend against her claws.
Just remembering how Ames's claws would pierce or slash his body made True Void shiver in fear.
"His condition stabilized a few weeks ago," True Void carefully said while observing Ames's reaction. "And you know I am connected to the Void core, so it is easy for me to know his condition as long as I am near him."
"That skinny brat," Ames suddenly said.
"S-Skinny brat?" True Void blinked in confusion.
Jita, silently listening in on them, also blinked. Although she could barely understand them, she knew what 'skinny' and 'brat' meant. And both words did not apply to their Master.
"Did he succeed in finding the bloodlines that would produce a body similar to the Ancients?"
True Void's expression turned solemn. Rather than his memories being sealed, he mostly had forgotten them because he never really paid much attention. But the moment Ames mentioned the Ancients, True Void had started to remember bits and pieces of what Caelan did before he sealed him inside the Void core.
"I don't know, but I remembered him visiting planes and confronting powerful mages in a battle or establishing good relation with them."
"That two-faced b*tch has been after the Regis bloodline for a long time," Ames said.
True Void frowned at her words. The more Ames talked, the more confused he became.
"What are you trying to say?"
"Ancient body," Ames said after a moment's pause. "My great-grandson... I think he already have it."
