Birthday (3)
After entering Yulin Hall, Mu Mingtang immediately noticed Xie Xuanchen who was sitting at the centre of the hall in a leisurely manner while reading a book. She watched him for a long time before realising that he was only faking his act of reading. After confirming her guess, she decided to feign anger as she exclaimed, “You…you said that you forgot to prepare a gift. I almost believed your words. Hmph…”
Mu Mingtang couldn’t help, but smile gleefully after saying so.
Seeing Mu Mingtang bloom like a flower full of happiness, Xie Xuanchen felt that his efforts were really worth it, and satisfaction filled his heart. Fortunately, he had planned a lovely present for his wife.

“Oh right! Begonia is not easy to transplant. How come I don’t know when it happened?” Mu Mingtang looked at her husband with wide eyes.
“It’s difficult, but not impossible. We just have to find the right people for the job. They started the process a few days ago.” Xie Xuanchen replied.
‘Oh~ it turned out that the preparations started a few days ago…’ As Mu Mingtang thought about it, something clicked in her mind, so she could not help but ask, “Then how come everyone knew about this matter, but I didn’t?”
“I don’t know why these people in the palace hid it from you.” As Xie Xuanchen’s words flew out, the maids standing near them were all surprised.
‘My lord, what are you talking about?’ The maids could only exclaim that question in their hearts, unable to voice their grievances.
Seeing maids’ puzzled expressions, Mu Mingtang could already guess what had actually transpired, and gave Xie Xuanchen an amused look.
‘Nonsense. It is obvious that he had given the order not to reveal anything to me, so the servants did not dare to say a single word about it. Xie Xuanchen really has the nerve to slander the maids without even blinking and with a straight face.’ Mu Mingtang scolded her husband’s cunning nature secretly.
As Mu Mingtang and Xie Xuanchen made their way to the garden, they noticed that the path, which had previously been lined with exotic flowers and plants, was now covered in begonias. The petals of the red, white, and pink begonias fluttered around with the flow of the wind, carrying a clear fragrance with them.
Mu Mingtang pointed to the plants on both sides and said to Xie Xuanchen, “This is Xifu Begonia, which has narrow branches and its flowers open upward. This one has long and drooping flower stalks, it is the Chuisi Begonia. When I was young, the one my family planted was the Chuisi Begonia…”

Mu Mingtang explained for a while, and said, “I know you can’t remember everything I’m saying, but you are already flattering me by listening with this much attention. Thank you for preparing so much and your thoughtfulness. I like this precious gift very much.”
Xie Xuanchen raised his eyebrows and looked at Mu Mingtang, “Who said I can’t remember them all?”
“Have you really remembered everything?” Mu Mingtang’s surprised exclamation spread around them.
“Of course.”
In an attempt to figure out whether Xie Xuanchen was telling the truth or not, Mu Mingtang randomly pointed to a plant and questioned him. She was shocked when Xie Xuanchen was able to give the right response.
Mu Mingtang, who was taken aback, exclaimed: “Wow. Even scholars would be unable to remember such a thing in an instant. How could you…just a few days ago you couldn’t even recognise flowers.”
