Shelves lined with bottles and jars, test tubes filled with colorful liquids, and the bubbling sound of distillation surrounded them. This was just a part of Seth's lab, which contained both poisons and antidotes. Each was labeled with a code, not a name. The lab housed at least a dozen researchers, fully geared up and working diligently.
Nash was placed on a sofa, unconscious.
Nina was taken to the hospital for a full-body check-up. Apart from sscrapes, she was fine.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThanks to Scarlett's protection, she had survived the ordeal. She worried about Scarlett, who had always expressed her loneliness and isolation.
Even in the operating room, Scarlett was alone, with no one to visit her. Nina did not want her to be alone and wanted to provide her with swarmth.
Nina waited outside the operating room, hoping that when Scarlett woke up, she would see someone who cared about her. Maybe that would give her more hope to live.
After three hours, Scarlett was wheeled out of the operating room. Nina stood up immediately, relieved to see Scarlett alive.
"The surgery was successful. The bullet has been removed, but the patient needs to rest," the doctor informed her.
"Thank you, doctor." As Scarlett was pushed out, a group of police officers arrived. Nina saw James with his team guarding Scarlett's room and asked, "What's going on? Why are there so many officers?" James explained, "This woman is connected to the criminals. She is a key suspect and must be watched to prevent her from escaping." Nina's heart sank. "Even if she was coerced, she could still be considered a key suspect?" James replied, "That will be determined during the trial." Nina, worried about Scarlett's fate, asked, "Will she be executed?" James said, "It's unclear right now. It depends on whether she's found to be a principal offender or an accomplice." "I told you she was coerced," Nina insisted emotionally. "If a girl haszto do things against her will to survive, with no control over her life, what should she do? Choose death or be foreed to live? "If she hadn't done what she did, she wouldn't have survived this long." Seeing Nina's growing agitation, James tried to calm her down. "Ma'am, please calm down. Her fate hasn't been decided yet. There's still hope." Nina remembered her twith Scarlett. She understood Scarlett's struggles and felt deep sympathy and sadness for her.
Without that experience, she might not have been able to empathize as deeply. It was a feeling only she could understand, while those around her did not.
Nina felt tears welling up again. She composed herself, wiping her eyes, and asked, "What about Nash? I haven't seen him. You and Felix never leave his side. Why weresent here, and why haven't I seen him since you arrived?" Nina's suspicion grew.
