Chapter 36 Emily’s Certainty

The shocking scene scared Elva so much that she rushed over to her

mom.

She squatted down and patiently put her arm around Emily and said, “Mom, don’t cry. Now that Seraphina comes

back, you should take care of yourself.”

Thomas and Waldron walked over. When they heard Emily’s voice, they thought she recognized her daughter.

Thomas held Emily and asked softly, “Emily, our daughter is back. You don’t have to worry about her anymore.”

Thomas looked to Bella who was standing to the side and waved at her.

Bella hesitated for a moment but finally walked over.

“Look, our daughter is now standing in front of us, and we will never be separated again.” Thomas took Bella’s

hand and folded it with Emily’s.

Emily stared at Bella.

Waldron coldly reminded his father, “Dad, look at what is in Mom’s hand.”

Only then did Thomas notice that Emily was holding something.

It was a piece of cotton cloth, empty and a little yellowed, but Emily was tugging on it tightly like she was holding a

rare treasure.

Thomas gazed at the piece of cloth and thought about it. Suddenly his eyes lit up and he hurriedly asked, “Where

do you get this?”

Elva couldn’t tell what it was either, but she thought it had to be something meaningful judging from her mom’s

reaction.

The cloth was white, a little yellowed, and looked old.

Elva glanced at Bella.

“It belongs to Seraphina,” Emily answered, folding the cloth in her hand carefully and placing it in her upper pocket.

Elva glanced at the cloth again and felt familiar. She had seen it somewhere before, but couldn’t remember it

precisely for the moment.

Thomas looked at Bella and asked with a shivered voice, “Is this

yours?”

Bella stared at that cloth and was just about to deny it when Elva spoke, “It’s Bella’s, I’ve seen it on Bella’s desk

before.”

Bella’s didn’t say a thing.

It took a great deal of courage to admit that the cloth belonged to her.

From yesterday to today, she had been shocked by the Friedan family’s wealth. And the three young masters of the

Friedan family dazzled her with their handsomeness.

If she could stay in a family as rich as the Friedan family, she didn’t have to be Seraphina. She could be a Mrs.

Friedan!

Bella echoed Elva by default.

“Yes, it’s mine. I’ve been carrying this piece of cloth with me since I was little, and somehow it fell out.”

Elva gritted her teeth and clenched her fists as she saw the smug look on Bella’s face. She secretly rolled her eyes.

Bella Young, what a gold digger.

Thomas was very happy at Bella’s answer. “I know! This must be Seraphina’s napkin. It was popular in those days to

put a napkin on the baby’s neck. I didn’t expect that you still kept it after so many years.”

Bella also looked a little touched, “Since I was a child, I knew that I’m not the biological daughter of my parents. My

foreign adoptive parents didn’t make my origins a secret. They gave me this napkin.”

“So is this napkin the only thing that your adoptive parents gave you?” Thomas asked, “Anything else such as

clothes or shoes?”

Thomas began to interrogate. Bella didn’t know what to say for a

moment.

She looked nervously at Elva.

Elva threw herself into Thomas’ arms and pouted, “Dad, let’s save these questions until the test results come out.

We should ask Bella’s adoptive parents – it has been a long time, and Bella must have forgotten.”

“You’re right,” Thomas laughed, “And I don’t think we need the test results. This napkin is evidence that solid

enough to prove Bella’s identity.”

Thomas had already recognized Bella.

Waldron observed Bella’s reaction, not letting go of any subtle expression on her face.

Whether or not this cloth was Bella’s remained to be investigated, but its sudden appearance was outrageous.

There were too many coincidences when looking at the whole thing.

He walked next to Ervin and asked in a low voice, “Have you investigated Bella?”

Ervin nodded, “I have. Nothing abnormal. The timeline matched.”

Waldron signed, “Then all we can do is wait for the test results.”

“Excuse me for a moment,” Waldron pointed at Thomas. “Stop him if he makes any impulsive decision. He could

embarrass the whole family.”

Ervin laughed. “Don’t worry, I will. I’ll make sure nothing happens until the test results come out.”

Waldron nodded at him. He took the car keys and headed to the underground garage.

Time was up. It was the time for him to go get the results.

Seeing Waldron leave, Elva blinked and she quietly sent a message to Rosalie.

It was a beautiful day. After a good sleep, Claudia woke up early.

She was in the house making breakfast when she heard a car outside her door.

Looking through the window, a Maybach pulled up at her gate. Then the door opened and Edmond stepped out of

the car.

He wore a white T-shirt and black trousers. His dark hair was nicely ruffled and flattened around his forehead,

covering the darkness of his

eyes.

Claudia was surprised.

What was he doing here?

He was too impatient to wait for the divorce.

The sunshine shone through the leaves and made Edmond’s face

blurred in shadow.

Edmond glanced at her house.

Soon after, Claudia’s cell phone rang

“Hello.”

Edmond’s low voice came through the other side of the phone, “I’m at your house.”

“Did you have breakfast?” Claudia sounded calm. She continued cooking.

He paused for a few seconds and asked hesitantly, “Can I eat here?”

Claudia laughs softly, “If you want to.”

Today was the day of their divorce. She had thought through about it, so she was calm when facing him.

Time could settle everything.

Claudia opened the door and Edmond walked in.

Edmond felt dazzled when he saw Claudia in an apron.

Her eyes were clear and bright. And her rosy lips curved into a smile. Her pretty long hair and beautiful face made

the air in the kitchen gently fresh.

He had never seen her being so relaxed.

In the past, they lived in a villa. She would ask him if he was hungry when he came back late in the night, make him

snacks without waking up the maids, and ask with a careful tone if they were tasty.

Once he came back late and saw her asleep on the sofa with a nutritional guide in her hand.

That was when he realized how she had become such a good cook.

He sat down at the table and a plate of pasta was brought to him.

“I didn’t expect you to come, so I put chili in it.”

Seeing Edmond staring at the pasta, Claudia assumed he got stumped by the chili on the pasta.

“I thought you can’t eat spi cy food,” said Edmond.

Claudia froze. Thinking back at the time she spent in the Lamont family, she told Edmond that she couldn’t eat spi

cy food to cater to his

tastes.

She was momentarily speechless at Edmond’s words.
