"Ming!" Cedric shouted as he tried to get in contact with his friend, the line was not cut and Cedric could hear as chaos ensued at the other line of the call.
"Get our people there!" Cedric ordered, sending Dave out in a rush.
"Sir, we have some staff there watching Mr. Guan's arrival, I'll try to get in touch with them." Mae told Cedric as she quickly made a call.
"Damnit Ming!" Cedric cursed over the phone as he continued to wait for his friend to say something, anything.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSuddenly out of the static and chaos at the other end of the line, Cedric heard a voice.
"Ced, Ced!" Guan Ming shouted, calming Cedric down. "It's a fucking ambush."
"I'm sending men there right now." Cedric said as Mae gave him a nod, signaling that those they had initially sent were quite near. "Ming, you need to get somewhere safe. My people are in the airport."
"How will I know they are worth trusting?" Guan Ming asked as Cedric could hear him panting. It seemed that he was running to get to safety as Cedric had told him.
"They will ask you who Camilla is, give them an answer from your heart." Cedric told his friend.
"From my heart? You got to be fucking with me." Guan Ming grumbled as Cedric heard shots being fired in the background.
"Just trust me." Cedric told his friend over the phone.
"Alright. I'm also trying to get my men in here, but they are still quite far out." Guan Ming informed Cedric, sounding much calmer that Cedric expected.
"Ming, we'll get you, don't worry." Cedric promised. "We'll talk when you get out."
"I will owe you some drinks after I guess." Guan Ming teased as he ended the call.
As soon as his call with Guan Ming ended, his phone began to ring. It was Ram, it was possible that he had already heard about the attack at the airport.
"Cedric, was Guan Ming the target?" Ram quickly asked as soon as Cedric picked up the call.
"Yes, it was him." Cedric said as he tried to calm the anger and worry in him. He knew that he had to remain calm in order to find a solution out of the mess they were in.
"I have eyewitness accounts flooding in, they don't know who the target was, all they are telling me is that it was a private plane." Ram told Cedric. "Do you want me to let the information out that it was Guan Ming?"
"Yes." Cedric answered.
"Are you sure?" Ram asked, surprised by his friend's answer.
"Yes." Cedric said as he repeated himself. "This could help us push people to demand Lucius Ting's head be served on a silver platter."
"You want them to think Lucius Ting is ruining our country's name by attacking Guan Ming?" Ram asked as he slowly figured out Cedric's plan.
"I want them to see Lucius Ting as the greatest threat to both our national safety and our economy." Cedric declared. "Guan Ming is not just any ordinary businessman, he is one of the most powerful and influential ones in China. If any harm came to him, the people behind the attack would be answerable to China as well."
"Are you even sure that it was Lucius Ting that ordered the attack?" Ram asked Cedric.
As much as Ram was itching to release news that would ruin Lucius Ting's name, as a member of the media he wanted to report things as truthfully as possible. He didn't want to put Lucius Ting's name when it could backfire against them.
"Just put that a source close to Guan Ming has stated that the businessman has long been suspicious of him." Cedric instructed Ram. "That should be enough to keep you on the safe side."
"Alright." Ram said as Cedric could hear him giving out instructions to his employees in the background.
"Ram, send me all the reports and testimonies you are getting from eyewitnesses." Cedric told Ram over the phone as he waved Mae over.
"Sure, I hope it will help you get to the bottom of who is trying to harm Guan Ming." Ram told Cedric.
"Is there any way for us to communicate live with our men on the ground?" Cedric asked Mae as he kept Ram on the line.
"What are you up to?" Ram asked Cedric as he tried to figure out what his friend was plotting. He knew that Cedric like to think out of the box and maximize all of his resources, Cedric didn't like waste.
"Yes, we have radio communication with them, Leon can bring it up if you want." Mae informed Cedric.
"Good, good." Cedric said with a nod as he looked at his assistant and carefully analyzed his plan.
"Ram, can we get live updates of all of the reports you are getting from eyewitnesses?" Cedric asked Ram.
"It'll be difficult, but it's not impossible." Ram confirmed with Cedric. "What's the plan?" He asked, knowing that whatever Cedric was asking had much larger implications.
"I want to use those reports you are getting from witnesses to help my team get Guan Ming out of his current predicament." Cedric told Ram.
He then looked up at Mae and realized that they had another dilemma.
"Do our people know where Guan Ming and his bodyguards sought shelter?" Cedric asked his assistant.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Not yet, it seems that even their attackers don't know where to look." Mae informed Cedric.
"And the police or the military, haven't they arrived?" Cedric questioned. It was odd that despite the attack it was taking so long for the military or police to arrive.
Guan Ming was a very important guest to their country, there were always people watching wherever he went, except when Cedric smuggled him to Mountain View or when he arrived in Kashmir. Those places were out of reach of the military and government officials, places that the president had banned them specifically from.
"There have been accidents and blocades all over the city, specifically on routes leading from police stations and military outposts to the airport." Mae reported.
"Fuck, this was all planned." Cedric cursed. "It was very meticulously planned."
"How about our men?" Cedric asked as he realized that even if the military routes were blocked his people were coming from a different route.
"So far they have not encountered any accidents or blockades, as a matter of fact, Leon had also sent some people to help the military." Mae informed Cedric.
"Did he leave enough people to guard Mountain View?" Cedric asked as panic suddenly set in. He was worried that this could be a trap to lure his people out of Mountain View and attack his family.
"There are more than enough people, sir." Mae reported. "And Leon didn't touch the number of people protecting the Reyes Mansion and R Tower."
"And Ian?" Cedric asked as he recalled that his friend was at Mor Co.
"He has been transported here, sir. It will be easier to protect in case of an attack." Mae told Cedric.
"Do we know where Lucius Ting is currently at?" Cedric asked as he realized that Lucius Ting could be attempting an escape.
"At the moment, sir, we have eyes on him at his residence." Mae confirmed.
"Are you sure it is him and not some double?" He checked.
"Yes, he was seen entering the apartment just a few minutes ago, we have people guarding all exits including the helipad." Mae said.
Cedric couldn't help but smile at the fact that his people had already thought about everything that could concern him, he didn't deny that he felt proud.
"So it's just Guan Ming that we need to worry about, we need to find him. The eyewitness reports that Ram is getting might be able to help." Cedric told Mae. "We need them working together as quickly as possible."
"On it." Mae said with a nod as she left the room.
"I'll keep you updated.." Cedric told Ram as he dropped the call.
