Chapter 211 211 - Lizards
Using his Demon Sight, Ryan could clearly see the flow of energy that was passing through the egg. Inside, the animal's mana was already clearly outlining its body. It was an adorable little bird of prey that was already moving around inside the shell; in a few days Ryan's new pet would be out of the shell.
'I still don't know what to do with it,' he thought.
<What do you mean?>
That was a slightly more complex question than it seemed. After all, he could very well keep the obsidian bird as a pet, but at the moment, that animal wouldn't be much help to Ryan.
'My Demon Form can already fly fast enough to beat a monster of its kind as an adult. Besides, my mana doesn't run out as quickly as it used to, so maybe the best thing I can do is sell this pet,' he thought.
<No!> Nyx shouted, appearing in front of him with both arms outstretched. She was protecting Ryan's egg.
"Calm down! I haven't decided that yet!" he said, surprised.
Nyx's face was flushed and a little worried, looking out of the corner of her eye she thought for a moment and continued to make a visibly annoyed face.
"Maybe it's best to leave him here to help out in the village," Ryan said, and at the same moment the succubus began nodding her head in agreement.
Puffing out her chest, she said aloud, "If you don't want him, leave him to me."
Ryan turned and left the barn and said as he walked, "No problem, but you'll need to train him to work on the transportation between the islands."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtNyx's eyes were shining as she was still processing this information. A gigantic smile appeared on her face as she followed Ryan slowly floating out of the barn, she was laughing "Hehehehe, I won a bird" she said repeatedly, three times.
As Ryan walked along the island, he drew a house with his finger. "I think I can make my office here. Over there I'll put a harbor and a blacksmith's shop... This will be good," he thought aloud.
A few minutes later, Ryan stretched out his arms and created a small stone structure. "It's far from looking like a pier," he said, but shrugging he just accepted that it was the best he had for now.
Using wind magic, he set off again for the main island where he went to check on the progress of Aiden and Brigitte's work. As soon as he set foot on the green ground, the sound of magic happening reached his ears. The women of the desert were gathered around the two artisans, celebrating as they built the houses.
Walking towards the noise, Ryan saw Maki the elf standing a little away from the crowd. "What's going on?" he asked, confused.
"They're finishing the last house," said the elf.
Ryan's eyes widened. "I didn't know they were so far away," he said, surprised. But now that he had time to assess, the whole region was already quite structured. There were concrete and stone roads, houses on every corner and the vegetable gardens were already well developed. The town hall and the medical center were ready, which made the place look like a village.
A few minutes later, the two had finished building the last house. Maki was taking care of the organization of the houses, advising the farmers on which places they should move to. Because of this, Ryan left the girl alone and went to speak directly to Aiden and Brigitte, "I need your help, it's a quick job," he said.
The two immediately bowed their heads and said at the same time, "We're at your disposal, master".
Ryan gestured with his hands for them to follow him.
'If I put the factory on the main island, we'll probably have problems. There are still a few meters to get to the lake that leads to the waterfall... But it wouldn't be good to let so many monsters near the village,' he thought.
The other sizable island was on the opposite side of the one Ryan had chosen as his base.
"Where did he go?" Aiden said.
"Huh?!" Brigitte cried out.
Ryan had disappeared and seconds later appeared behind the two. With a hand on each of their necks, he grabbed them by their clothes and activated his Shadow Form. Seconds later, the three of them were on the other island, which was completely empty, with only a lake and a tree near a drop that led to a waterfall.
"I'm going to make a barn and a slaughtering area here," he said.
Aiden and Brigitte were still confused by what had happened, but exchanging glances they nodded. "That'll be easy," said Aiden.
"Construction of this kind is extremely simple," Brigitte continued.
Within half an hour, a gigantic barn was ready. It had several wooden partitions to hold the animals, as well as an area for slaughtering and another for removing the hide. Ryan asked for a warehouse to be built near the end of the island, and with Brigitte's help he understood a little better how to make concrete with magic.
"You just need to channel the water with the hot mixture of calcium and clay that can be found inside the earth. You just need a little understanding of fire, water and wind magic," she said, as she finished building a pier that would connect this island to the main island.
Looking from side to side, Ryan wondered how to position the animals. Nodding his head, he was soon to start work. "Well, do you need any help getting back?" he asked.
Brigitte and Aiden began to shake their heads rapidly from side to side. They both seemed to be in a cold sweat and desperate to refuse the offer.
"We can return without any problems, my master," said Brigitte, her voice trembling.
"I don't want to bother you, thank you for the offer," said Aiden, who was also shaking.

The two bowed and then Aiden used wind magic to create a platform to the other island.

In the midst of the great forest, Ryan could see a constant deregulation of the mana in the place. The animals were much more present than before, which made him extremely curious. Both herbivorous animals and smaller hunters were much more present.
Water cats and wind rats were walking around with much more presence, as well as the typical giant crystal beetles that were no longer hidden underground. As Ryan made his way through the forest, he kept asking himself what could have done this.
Slapping himself in the face, he realized what he had asked Pharah to do on the first day.
"Now that the wind gorillas have been exterminated, the region's ecosystem is freer. With the death of the wind snake, this has given even more freedom for small animals to move around," he said aloud.
Without the dangers of a gigantic flying snake and the countless dominators of that region, it was now possible to see the animals that lived there more clearly. But Ryan wasn't looking for small vertebrates or new animals for his collection.
He was looking for a monster that could be constantly cultivated for precious tissue, a much more difficult task than he could have imagined.
For about two hours, Ryan ran from one side of the forest to the other looking for animals. Following streams and clearings, he found nothing of interest. There were some big cats in the area that could make interesting fabrics, but nothing that would be easy to keep on a farm.
For a moment, he considered catching some wild boar. But apart from the meat, they didn't have much to offer.
Only after another three hours of searching did Ryan find a species perfect for the task. Crystal armor lizards, a type of monster that lived at the edge of the forest where there was an accumulation of earth elemental crystals.
The animals fed mainly on grass and mana crystals, which made them easy to look after. In addition, their large size made them a good source of meat. Their bones had a shiny color that looked like ivory mixed with crystals, which added much more value. The leather of the animals had good resistance and was a dark color that could be dyed.
Finally, both the eyes and teeth of the lizards were made of crystal, which could be used along with the two horns on their foreheads. The armor plates were also very useful, as they were a versatile material that could be used for both forging and tailoring.
For these and other reasons, Ryan's eyes began to shine when he found that nest. Ryan quickly immobilized four females and four males. The first thing he did was to stun the creatures, then he secured them with stone walls.
With the help of Aiden and Brigitte, he took the animals to the island with wind magic. Thus began Ryan Whitemane's life as a farmer and mayor.
