Chapter 1363  The Sound Of The Devil

Hyson looked at her waiting for the explanation and even held up his wrist to tap on it as if indicating that the twas ticking. Ironically, there was no watch on his wrist though. But it didn't matter to him as long as he got his message across.

Seeing how rushed Xiang Wai looked to explain herself in front of him and get his pardon, Grandfather Xiang found it really funny. These two liked to create the most trouble in the house and yet here they were now. "It happened just today," said Xiang Wai right from the start. "I only meant to visit Zhai Yanjun for a while after I was done with my own things. But when I got to his training camp, I saw something that got on my nerves and I lost all my reason."

"You're speaking as if you saw him having an affair," snickered Hyson.

"He dares?!"

"Exactly! He doesn't dare," replied Hyson. "So what could possibly get to you?"

"There was this girl hanging on to him like a koala," gritted out Xiang Wai.

"Oh, it's really a scandalous affair!"

Seeing the exciting glint in Hyson's eyes, Xiang Wai had to take a deep breath to calm herself down. "It's not an affair. It's just an annoying girl who keeps hovering around him lately trying to entice him into making a mistake. The last tI clearly warned her off but she still didn't listen or take my words seriously. Seeing how she was ready to pretend like she knew nothing, I decided to take that chance to propose."

"You proposed to him in front of his whole battalion?" asked Hyson.

"Yeah."

Hyson gave her a slow clap in response, "You've got sguts, Major!"

"What? Did you think I'd chicken out in front of them? How is that possible? There is no such thing as fear in my life. If there was, I wouldn't be Major Xiang Wai. I'd have been a Lieutenant Colonel by now if your best friend didn't mess it up."

"Rather than blaming Raelle, you should reflect on your own reckless behavior. Your own performance was the reason you didn't get the promotion. But be glad you are getting a medal for it." Hyson couldn't help defending his best friend when he was needed to do so. But coming back to the topic, he asked, "However, Major, putting all that aside, letget this straight. You got impulsive and had an impromptu proposal because you're jealous of a girl who was flirting with Zhai Yanjun. Am I getting that right?"

"Yes, but..."

Hyson held up his hand to stop her from saying more as he smiled at her, "Hence proven, you didn't reflect on yourself. You're still impulsive and reckless."

Xiang Wai scratched the tip of her nose before saying, "Clearly, it's your fault."

Hyson pointed at himself, "Mine? How am I in this? I wasn't even there. Why do you love to bleverything on me?"

"Because it is your fault!"

"I won't take this blame."

"But you have to," said Xiang Wai stubbornly. "On our hiking, it was your crow's mouth that said something. Remember?"

"I say a lot of things," was Hyson's response. "How am I supposed to know what are you referring to?"

"It's when you said that I'm making so elaborate and grand plans but how do I know that they'd succeed? After all, things happen unexpectedly in this world."

Hyson laughed, "I didn't word it like that."

"That was gist of it anyway. You have to take the blthat your crow's mouth ruined everything."

Hyson did not want to argue with her so he said, "All's well that ends well, no? It was all about putting a ring on his finger. You got it, in the end. Didn't you? So, why think about it so much now?"

"What about my plans?"

"I did not force you or push you to do it so suddenly," said Hyson. "I'm already being nice by not arguing with you since it's supposed to be a happy day for you and I respect that. Don't forceto do something. Anyway, I'd also use you like a punching bag like Raelle just did to me."

"Raelle used to as a punching bag?" asked Xiang Wai curiously. "Tellmore about it."

"It's better if you don't ask," said Shui Koshing. "She was not in a good mood today and she did not hold back her punches either. I was feeling a bit bad for Fai just for a moment."

"And here I thought you're enjoying it too much, Uncle Shing," said Hyson sarcastically.

"I was, not gonna lie," accepted Shui Koshing as he laughed. "But Wai, I don't understand why you lost your calm and cool so easily. Don't you trust Yanjun? He isn't so easily swayed. You understand him so well. Besides, you're such an amazing catch. Can the other girl even hold a candle in front of you?"

"She can," started Hyson. "If she is sweet-mouthed, coy, looks cute, and is young too. Am I right, Major?"

Xiang Wai stared at Hyson in shock, "How do you know? Were you there?"

"I don't have to be there to know what could threaten you," answered Hyson. "I've understood you enough to know what you lack. And of course, you'd fear what you don't have but the other person do. What if Zhai Yanjun likes that sweetness? What if he likes that flirting? What if he is into that tender and soft person?"

Xiang Wai put her hands over her ears to block his voice as she yelled, "Why the hell do you sound like my inner demons? I swear, the voice of the devil in my head sounded the sat that time! It's really you who messed up my plan!"

Xiang Wai picked up a cushion and threw it at him. Hyson dodged it easily and stuck his tongue out at her before taking the other cushion and throwing it back at her.
