Cade returned to the estate after being away for more than a week.
Initially, he wanted to meet with Kyran, but since he had much to discuss with the Elders and the rest of their members with good Array knowledge, he had to meet with them first.
In that meeting, Cade thought of letting Kyran join but decided against it at the last minute.
Although Kyran had not said anything yet, Cade more or less guessed he was planning to leave that day.
He knew Kyran had been running around the meeting people and making some preparations. Thus, it was not that hard to guess what the latter intended to do.
In any case, Cade did not ask Kyran to join because he did not want to distract him. First of all, he knew his son well. Once his interest had been piqued, he tended to lose track of time. And discussions in Array were among the few things he was interested in.
Besides, the very essence of the Warp Formation Cade planned to create was Void magic. Once Kyran started talking about it, Cade knew all of them would ask many questions. Even if Kyran preferred to ask questions rather than answer, he would humor them because understanding his magic would be beneficial to them once they started creating the Warp Array Formation.
While Cade and the others were in the middle of the meeting, Kyran took the chance to spend time with Kyra and the little ones in their clan. After all, there was no telling when he would return once he left. And if he did, these little ones would probably be big enough to play with.
Thus, after dinner, they played like there was no tomorrow. It was not until Pheobe and the other adults had arrived to take the little ones away that they were forced to stop.
Nevertheless, Kyra insisted on having Kyran put her to sleep. It was as if she sensed he was leaving again and wanted to spend as much time as possible with him.
Kyran did not mind.
Finally, after almost four hours, Cade, the Elders, and a few members of their clan stepped out of the temporary conference room.
Cade went to a makeshift study and called for Kyran.
By then, Kyra was already asleep, and Pheobe took over, watching her sleep.
In the study, the father and son discussed the Warp Formation right off the bat. It was as if they had been discussing it for a long time and not starting then and there.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtKyran discussed the Void formula for 'warp' and explained how it could be integrated into the formation that was not reliant on Void energy.
Cade listened with interest. After all, Void magic was a topic many had tried to research but had little opportunity to do because of the Royal Family's decree.
Besides, to activate the warp formula in an array formation, one had to know the corresponding ingredients that would allow the Void energy to assimilate into the whole array. It was something that, apart from a mage possessing Void magic and having profound Array knowledge, would know.
The two discussed for more than an hour before Cade decided to stop. Unlike his son, he was capable of controlling his thirst for knowledge.
"Won't you go see your grandfather and mother before leaving?"
Kyran was taken aback at his father's sudden question. They were just discussing the Warp Formation one second, and then suddenly, an entirely unrelated question sprang out of nowhere.
No. Maybe it was not really out of nowhere.
Kyran knew how his father's insight went beyond anyone he knew. It was one of the abilities that Kyran had wanted to have. Alas, his two abilities— the first, which allowed him to grasp concepts and theories of things easily, and the second, forcing beasts to keep a distance away from him, were not as helpful to him nowadays.
If one had great insight, one could anticipate things and make preparations to avoid meeting the worst-case scenario.
"I do plan on seeing them," Kyran replied after a short pause.
Cade nodded.
"That's good then."
"Are you not going to stop me?"
Cade chuckled.
"If your mother allowed it, why should I not?"
Kyran frowned, "And here I thought you knew about my leaving because of your insight."
"I knew you would go after her, the moment she decided to put you to sleep before leaving. Rin, your mother, only affirmed my guess by saying she did not try to convince you to stay."
"You knew even then?"
"I don't think it is surprising," Cade replied, raising his brows. "You don't exactly hide how you feel for her."
Kyran's brow twitched. He even felt his cheeks burn slightly. It was one thing to talk about things like this with his mother, but it felt even more embarrassing with his father.
"I don't—."
"One of the things I regretted was not proposing to your mother first," Cade cut Kyran off before he could try to deny it.
Kyran abruptly stopped. It was no secret to him how his parents got married. As a matter of fact, it was one of the butt of jokes over a family dinner.
Because his father was too fixated on the fact that Rin was Nolan— his sworn brother's— twin sister, he did not want to see her as anything except a dear friend.
In the end, when they could not find a suitable 'husband' for Rin to be with because of her destiny as the Spirit Child, she proposed to Cade.
Cade was too shocked to speak and could only manage a nod.
Of course, they did not speak of Nolan when this was shared with them. Kyran also thought his father saw his mother as kin because they grew up together instead of the reason that she was his sworn brother's twin sister.
But then, before Kyran could hope he could learn how to turn invisible to avoid getting embarrassed in the future, he stopped short and frowned.
Why are they talking about proposing all of a sudden? Yes, Cyneah was very important to him, but she barely passed the legal age.
Alright. That was not the point here.
Why are they getting ahead of themselves? It was not like Kyran wanted to look for Cyneah because he wanted to propose to her.
"I don't want you to have any regrets because you have reservations about admitting how you truly felt," Cade went on, seemingly oblivious to the internal turmoil inside Kyran's head.
"No, I—."
"Once you leave, no one knows how long you will be gone," Cade continued.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAll of a sudden, their talk shifted to a more relatable flow.
"The same goes for her. I'm sure you understand what I meant."
What Cade said was correct. It was one of the reasons Kyran wanted to leave as soon as possible.
"By the time you find her, she might be older than you. Can you bear it?"
"It's not about bearing anything. I only want to find her. It doesn't matter how ling it would take. I'll take her back."
Cade nodded, "Alright. So, are you meeting with the Sovereign of Automa with Nolan?"
Kyran could not help but scratch his head inwardly. This could be the weirdest thing about having a powerful insight. There were moments when say things as if they were riddles or as if you were not reading on the same page.
"Yes. I haven't told Nolan though. I plan to contact him after I'm done with my errands."
"That is sensible. He might get overly excited and ask that guy to come here instead."
Kyran shook his head, "I don't want that. Even if Loar is not a bad person, the one I met is his essence. I don't know him that had ascended to Sovereignity."
"Yes," Cade agreed. "Although I did not sense any ill-intent from him, someone who attained a certain level could easily control such emotions."
"Wait," Kyran looked at him incredulously, "You met with him?"
Cade smiled slightly before replying, "I did. Or to be precise, I did not have a choice."
He then explained that the Sovereign of Automa had been waiting outside the Human plane all those times.
When the battle in the Human plane ended abruptly, and Cade almost suffered from overexerting his capability to close the rift, Nolan, who badly wanted to enter the plane to look at their situation, requested those Sovereigns lurking in the shadows to show themselves and state their business or else he would wreak havoc.
Instead of answering Nolan, the Sovereign of Automa said he would 'fix' Nolan's friend to show their sincerity.
Before Nolan could react to anything, a life-like dragon appeared with two humans in white robes standing on its head.
Then the one on the left waved its hand, and several human-like Automatons appeared and descended into the Human plane. Before they entered the plane, they turned invisible and scattered all over the battlefield, healing and assisting the wounded.
Cade had been one of those that was 'assisted' by the Sovereign of Automa's automaton. Thus, he was forced to come out as a 'representative' of the Human plane.
